f8a66 Aoife : Aoife had accompanied Azarnite twice in visits north to Seridia in paying their respects to Gray and his family. She’d come after the attempted ascension but the depth of its effects could still be felt in places, in its people, fourteen years later. It was awkward at times but she had her own ways of empathizing through some more personal experiences.

The tiefling pursed her lips and tensed a little at Abigor’s vocalized grief, rising to sit and then roll up to her feet and set about situating the giant pot of water over the robust flames in the makeshift fire pit.

Aza spoke more of Gray than she did Marlowe, albeit with a regretful anguish. It had been the finger-crossing hope of many of them to prevent his sacrifice in the end, and in many ways they had failed. That was the truth of it for the equintzi General anyway.

“Sounds like you’ve been managing okay when Aza mentions your letters. She’s always excited about the work you’re out doing,” Aoife tells Abigor with a shrug and an ‘oof’ as she plops back down on the dirty floor once more.

“I think she still looks for you sometimes,” she mumbles after a minute with a half guilty smile, blabber mouth. “I mean I don’t know completely for sure, but, y’know. I’m pretty sure. Man-! I bet you can’t wait to get a real bath huh?” changing the subject with zero warning she laughs a little, with only the intention of lightening the two men’s moods just a little.

ceac9 Karu : ((Adventure!))
a41ee Abigor: "Even if they're your specialty, the way Marlowe's body works is still unknown to you, Aoife. I don't think it's safe letting anyone but Aza really prod at whatevers attached itself to him." Things were going better than either Abi or Aoife could have hoped, he didn't want to take any chances by activating whatever attached itself to Marlowe and turning him back into a mindless zombie, or worse, a raging zombie.

Abigor didn't really care if Aoife said Aza would shit herself, but it was probably best to be a little more polite about her when talking to her lost lover. He agreed, they should relax.

While it did seem kind of convenient, this whole ordeal. Abigor was ready for things to potentially take a sudden turn for the worse. Even if he was trying to prove half-demons could function in polite society, that didn't mean he wouldn't break a few legs to anyone not being polite to an old friend.

However, Marlowe saying he would sacrifice himself, that didn't sit well with him. "Don't say that." He'd snap. "..Aza and I woulda stopped you from throwing your life away." Of course, it WAS very Marlowe of him to go right to giving his own life up. "You can't just come back after all these years and say you would've sacrificed yourself again." It WAS a sore spot, bringing up Gray, because Abigor saw it as a failure on his part, even after all these years.

"...Anyways..his family is doing alright. It's not easy but I've been doing my best to make sure no one's struggling."

0cad4 Marlowe: He thought back to the path that brought him here: something pulling him from the void and dropping him in the middle of nowhere; wandering around various villages before being chased out; all until Aoife and Abigor found him and brought him to the small abandoned cabin they were resting in for now. For now, he simply focused on the comforts that came from his friends with him; the first kind voices he'd heard in what felt like a lifetime.

76df7 Drayliss : *Drayliss was short. Only five-foot-five, a full fut shorter than her father, and four inches shorter than her older half-sister, Dyeera. She had a naturally pale complexion and opalescant eyes that reflected every color of the rainbow. She was thin, but strong, pointed ears that she inherited her her mother's partially elven heritage. Her hair was silver, a medium between her dad's white and her mom's blond. She was 26, but you wouldn't know it to look at her, her appareance that not changed very much since she was 12. She looked 14 or 15 at most. She was partial to flowing sun dresses and was wearing one in white and black today as she followed the trail. Odd attire for field work, but no one pressed the issue. Being a pricess and Daughter of a Legend granted a bit more leniency with her dress than some of her colleagues. She continued on following that peculiar aura, seeing ever detour and deviation the small party had made along the way.*
f2a92 Lily Silverthorn : (Marlowe! :D)
0cad4 Marlowe: He sat quietly, his attention shifting to Abigor and to Aoife and back. His face turned sullen when he heard of Gray's sacrifice. "He was a good mentor, and I suppose he was correct saying he saw a lot of myself in him. I'd have done the same if it would have ended the war." He closed his eyes. "I hope he's at peace."

After listening to Aoife, he nodded. "I think relaxing for a moment is in our best interest, especially mine. I've been so...discombobulated from my return. I've forgotten what it's like to be human after all this time. I should take some time to rest and regain my wits before we make our way to Aza and the others."

76df7 Drayliss : /m *A rift in space-time had opened here. It had been felt. Not by her, but by one more powerful and more experienced. One who was better attuned to such things. They sent her. She could take care of herself well enough and she was very skilled at investigation and following energy signatures.* *Her eyes, inherited from her father, could see auras and magical trails. She could tell how long ago and how powerful/dense an aura is. This was a very strange Aura, though. Its existence did not make sense to her. She did not waste time trying to puzzle it out, though. She would see what she was dealing with once she caught up with the being that generated the aura. That and those that met him here and travelled with him.* *Drayliss Moirier turned in the direction that the three went and began following their trail northward.*

f8a66 Aoife: Aoife nodded along at Abigor’s suggestion of just staying calm, breathing a little sigh herself to release the tension in her shoulders. “Plus I promised you a clean bed to sleep in,” she smiled up at Marlowe.

“Not like I gotta tell you but, you’re safe now.” Aoife leaned back and thumbed up at Abigor. “Human or void spooky! They’re kind of my specialty anyhow,” she rambled on, folding her arms into a pillow under her horned head. “Gods, Azarnite’s gonna shit hers- sorry… She’s gonna lose her mind though, for sure. In a good way!”

Aoife took a deep breath again and directed a very pointed stare at the ceiling. “Anyway I’m just sayin’ its okay to relax for a minute.”

So weird. This entire encounter was beginning to feel like bugs under her skin. It ‘hadn’t caused anyone problems necessarily but a paranoia crept like a shawl around her shoulders. Too convenient. It was all entirely too convenient. He was just some guy on a wanted poster, it wasn’t like he was the only deviant out there posted on a message board but something had almost seduced her into hunting this man down specifically.

Aoife remained stiff but her gaze darted back down to stare at Marlowe, her intense eyes betraying her easy going care of him, watching as the last of the discolored shadow left no trace on his face. The hairs on the back of her neck rose and she heaved a last sigh, crossing one leg over the other and bouncing it gently in suppressed anxiety. The tip of her fleshy tail risked a flitting dance from side to side of the growing fire.

Suspicions rose silently in her head but there were too many forces at power in the deepest recesses of the world’s history to pinpoint any one. “If we head out around twilight we can miss a bunch of the bigger morning crowds on the way."

a41ee Abigor: Everyone? Abi frowned when Marlowe had said that, but it wasn't his fault, he wouldn't have known. "...Sorry, Gray didn't, he sacrificed himself to stop Bandus." It was something that Abigor always beat himself up over even though no one blamed him, he still felt like he should have been stronger so that Gray didn't have to pull such a stunt. And thinking about it always put him in a sour mood, but at least Marlowe was back.

But that lead to an entirely new potential problem, one that wasn't really his concern to worry about unless it got out of hand. "Well for now, keep a cool head alright? You're here now, whatever energy's attached itself to you, it hasn't caused anyone else problems. Hopefully things stay that way until we can get you to Sualavii, then Aza and her experts can figure out what's going on with you, right?"

As experienced as Abi was and as much of a go-getter as Aoife was, neither of them had the mystic knowledge to go poking at Marlowe's body to see what would happen. So far, neither of them 'caught' anything from being in contact with Marlowe, and if they did, their demon blood might have nullified it. They just had to reach Aza without any hiccups, hopefully Marlowe didn't unknowingly rile up anyone dangerous while taking up residence in the swamp.

0cad4 Marlowe: "Thank the gods everyone made it through that war," Marlowe said, his anxiety seeming to calm the more he learned what happened to those he knew. "I hope I can make it to see Aza again, as long as my appearance doesn't...upset her." He placed a hand over the side of his face where the shadows seemed to spawn. As Aoife joined them, Marlowe nodded kindly to her.

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Miss Aoife," he said. "And yes, I suppose I'm still with you guys. I was trapped in the void for what felt like an eternity...I have no idea how my body changed in that time. My body naturally absorbs the energies around it, usually magical or life energy where I am. To be trapped in that world of shadow, I have no idea what exactly I absorbed."

f8a66 Aoife: ”I found a kettle! This thing’s like for a giant’s tea party, sheesh.” she announced proudly, hoisting the giant metal contraption with a spout on it up, water sloshing heavily and yanking her into the room in momentum. “Oof- This should be plenty to drink and rinse off if you want,” she added, setting the thing down on the floor to await the fire.

It was hard not to stare at the newcomer, a long lost legend for all intents and purposes. Azarnite had found it hard, the topic had turned her into a different person entirely on more than one occasion, but Aoife had managed to squeeze out pieces from her over the years, in the quieter moments, and the tiefling had come to idolize the idea of Marlowe that he’d left behind. Abigor had been always eager to talk about their adventures and it was the kind of life Aoife dreamed of when she was younger. It tickled her imagination and now he was back after all this time and- “Gosh, it’s just really great to meet you Marlowe,” she spilled, wringing her gloved hands anxiously again. “Sounds like you’ve had it… pretty damn rough, though. You’re still with us, yeah?”

Hard not to stare but easy as hells to empathize. She wanted to ask so many questions and her excitement sort of bubbled at the surface causing her to fidget while Abigor got the fire burning. Somehow she managed to keep control of herself for the time being. Abigor had to have the same questions plus a million more- so instead she hesitantly found a seat, dropping into a criss-cross on the floor across from the human’s left.

0cad4 Marlowe: ((it lives! Just waiting on Aoife to get back from her dinner))
f2a92 Lily Silverthorn : (Life!)
0cad4 Marlowe: ((Okay))
a41ee Abigor: While it was great that Aoife had gotten Marlowe to calm himself down, Abigor decided to help him further prove this was not a dream he tugged on Marlowe's cheek. "See? Not a dream."

Abigor began grabbing materials to make a fire as he gave a brief recap to Marlowe.

"We won the war and as far as I know, Bandus is probably dead. Or stuck somewhere where he can't be a problem to anyone. At the very least he's not a god like he wanted to be." Abigor quickly got a fire pit ready and in no time he had a fire ready for them to either keep warm or cook Marlowe a nice meal.

Abigor wasn't really sure when to break the news to Marlowe that he had been in the void for 14 years, Aoife might have gotten older but she aged a lot slower at a certain point, just like Abigor. "After that, things have been uneventful. I've managed to..kind of..domesticate Ashton. Aza has been mostly chugging along, I'm sure she'll be much happier when she sees you." He hoped, maybe she would be angry that he's been gone for so long? But it wasn't his fault, she would understand right?

"..Alessa's vanished though, she disappeared three years ago so her kids and her grandkids have been taking over for her..I've been trying to find out what might have happened to her, just so I could have some kind of answer." That was the most trouble that occurred in his life, trying to solve a mystery that for all he knew Alessa didn't want solved, but it wasn't the kind of thing Abigor could just ignore.

37faa Celine Whitewolf: The moon hung high in the sky, a silver guardian surrounded by a million stars, as she moved silently through the forest. Each step stirred memories—of when she first walked these woods as a child, full of courage and wonder.

She remembered the brave girl who once arrived at the old inn, determined to free those wrongly enslaved by a succubus-dragon beast. How that girl had looked beyond cruelty, seeing not monsters but individuals—lost souls who deserved a second chance. She had set them free, one by one, granting them the right to simply be.

There was a time when she herself had been broken—drowning in the misery of failure. She had failed her brothers. Failed herself. She had tasted despair, and yet, somehow, love found her in the darkness. She survived trial after trial, a youth forged in fire.

She had walked through countless worlds, met companions who changed her, and bid farewell to those who drifted away as time flowed differently in every realm. In the end, she came back—older, wiser, and with purpose carved deep into her soul.

She was a protector now. A guardian.

The children who were lost, she welcomed as her own. To any who needed help, she would always be waiting—at the White Wolf Sanctuary.

Tonight, like every night, she moved through the forest in the form of a great white wolf—her fur shimmering beneath moonlight, her size equal to that of a dire wolf. She found this form less intimidating than the demon-wolf she could become... and not quite so vulnerable as the smaller one. A silver moon was marked on her right thigh, glowing faintly with quiet magic.

Her eyes scanned the trees, attuned to every whisper and shift in the underbrush. She listened for the cries of the lost, the footsteps of those with cruel intentions. These woods twisted easily, confusing the hearts of men—but not hers. She knew them too well.

By day, she tended the children. The garden. The small, sacred rhythms of life. There were times when the weight of it all felt heavy—when loneliness crept in like mist—but she reminded herself: she was never truly alone. The children came and went, but they left echoes behind. Her family was never too far to reach.

Still… sometimes she wondered: would she always be like this?

Once, she was called the heart of the trio. It amused her now. At times, it still felt like a piece of her heart was missing.
