The Political climate for Cloud City is that it is on neither side in the war. The Tibanna gas it exports is sold to either side. Neither the Republic or the Imperium control Bespin, nor is there any official presence by either side there.

[Delete] | I'm slightly confused. The Star Wars Wikia says that it was liberated just before the Battle of Endor, but if I recall correctly the task force at Bakura is asked to swing by before returning to the fleet. |
