| Age of Avalon: IMPORTANT Setting Information |

[Delete] | The Age of Avalon has come!
-As of 10:00am EST October 1st 2010, the chat setting has changed.
-This change is "temporary" in the sense that it can be undone through IC Events.
-This is a new Plotline affecting the entire chat, NOT a chat retcon.
IC Details:
You wake up, and the world is as it always has been. A world of kingdoms, villages, magic and mutants.
OOC Details:
The world is changed.
Drastically.
The chat's setting is for the time, fantasy/dark-ages. "Mutants" are seen in a variety of lights: Witches, Gods, Holy Men, Demons, etc.
-Xavier's School is now Xavier's Keep, a stronghold and safe haven for outcast mutants.
-Knights of the Cross (Rev. Price's church) are returned! Now with Arcane Magic used to contain and restrain mutant threats.
-Shield Knights: SHIELD is now Shield >.> Knights charged with defense of the realm- not a big stretch.
-Character Alterations! With regards to regged characters or established canon characters, alterations are now possible on a level of age, appearance, etc. Powers are NOT up for re-altering (adding/replacing) if you wish to scale down a characters hold over their powers that is fine.
-Awareness: With regards to a character being aware of the sudden shift in reality. The ONLY groups capable of realizing something is amiss are trans-dimensional characters, or those with exceptionally high strength telepathy. Even then, it would hold no knowledge over what exactly was wrong, merely that the world was not as it is supposed to be.
-World Alteration: Any character with reality manipulating abilities would be incapable of simply using their powers to reverse the change. The powers responsible for the change to the Age of Avalon trump their own.

[Delete] | The entire 477 Universe is affected. Alternate Universes are unaffected.
Interplanetary travel would be more complicated. The technology would no longer exist (though potentially replaced with more arcane methods). I'm open to suggestion on those fronts.
And yes, deceased characters can be brought back into the fold. Similar to what had been seen in Marvel's House of M. Some can be alive and well, and as though they had never died.

[Delete] | So how about technologies that have come from alternate universes through inter-dimensional travel? Would those be affected? Namely, I have a character abducted by extra-dimensional aliens. He is now residing on another planet in the 477 universe. Would his memory be wiped as well? And the spaceship fleet of his abductors, would those be affected at all, since they're from another universe? |

[Delete] | The results affect anyone that was within the universe at that time with regards to shifting their technologies to be "suited" to the universe.
With regards to memory it would be trans-dimensional. Anyone entering this universe from an alternate one would be of the impression it had always been this way, though potentially feeling/thinking something uncertain was out of place/out of order/not right. |

[Delete] | Technically it isn't a jump in time, merely in setting. I used Dark Ages to give the indication that it is more a "Dark Ages" style fantasy setting (generally). Sexism and Racism wouldn't be any more an issue then they are "today." The only shift in sentiments as far as progressive issues go is the attitude towards mutants, which is strongly to blame on the shift inexplicably causing the church under the thumb of one now very alive Justin Price to be in a state of power such as the Catholic Church had been during the Dark Ages.
A better description of the setting might be a more fantasy/mythology based one. Some areas/places might better resemble a Renaissance-esque style while others might better resemble a more Greco-Roman one, or Egypt might resemble more the days of the Pharohs, and Japan more its Feudal era. The sentiments are more modern (less racial tension) but the appearance, style, technology, and the like are all different. |

ANYWAY!
Thoughts on Morlocks: even as I had been pushing them, they are a resource for character background and a source for contention without world altering power. The change in the setting would likely have them as wild hermits, back woods witch folk, gypsies, and the like. Still highly disenfranchised but bands of them can be befriended.
Thoughts on Lochmaben institute: If there's an Xavier Keep, there's a renegade order that's broken away. Lochmaben center was named after one of lake where King Arthur got his Sword from the Lady of the Lake. That in mind, I could see the Lochmaben order as a heretic group of Xavier Keep, that intends to resurrect Xavier, set the Morlocks to rebellion, and generally cause a people's uprising. Which brings up a point: What sort of order are the X-men? Clerics? Knights? Something else? Whatever it is, I want to make heretics of them, but I'd like to have an idea of what sort of splinter group to make.

[Delete] | I love this plot idea. I'm going to have Kaiser a sort of noble, basically he would have made his rise to power by backstabbing people, owning taverns as well as several coups due to his 'serpent'(the Venom symbiote). Those that know of Kaiser probably wouldn't think very highly of him. Those that live in his small 'state' so to speak are likely to fear him because of the rumors of him having some sort of devilish serpent that does his bidding and eats children and the like. I'm going to go ahead and say he has a harem, because harems fucking rule. If anyone wants to be in his court go ahead and message me on AIM or my JRex handle and we can work something out.
As far as the Church goes I imagine they would dismiss the serpent notion due to his strong donations to the church and his facade of being a religious man to the public.

[Delete] | Also, I am going to be adding a 'Plot Note' to the bottom of my profile to update people on what my character is up to in this setting. It might be an effective way to communicate and give options/ideas to those who haven't decided what they want to do with their characters in limbo. |

[Delete] | Annotations to profiles are a good idea, but some of the profiles, mostly mine and Nikku's, are incredibly long. Some profiles are also, while of average length or even quite short, formatted so that a lot of scrolling is required to get to the end. On top of that, I know there are also profiles out there where the player doesn't exactly know how to separate sections very well.
Because of this, adding an annotation to the -bottom- of a profile could end up very cumbersome to anyone attempting to read it. I suggest that instead, we add the annotations to the -top- of the page for the sake of ease.

Since the X-men in any timeline are usually a source of "salvation" to those in need something akin to the Knights Hospitaller might be a good description? Culmination of Religious Order (willing to help ALL), Nobility and Safe-Haven for aide and education of the young ones. How's that sound? |

[Delete] | As for profile annotations I'd say that's up to each person whether they want to put the time into them or not. I don't really push the profiles on people cause I know sometimes a John Doe is just... John Doe.
I would recommend a same-spot for em though for people who are planning to do it.
Incidentally. If this ends up something people enjoy and want to continue past the plot, I may pop open a new or repurpose the Knight Academy spot to open up a chat based on this "shift" for just that. No answers now, just if you enjoy it let me know after the wrap up. |
