 Slaughter in Downtown

A massacre late last night in downtown Neo Vallera left countless dead and no wounded. Witnesses who fled the scene reported that two individuals alone were responsible for the attack, a man and a woman. The woman was dressed in black, while the man wore a long, dark trenchcoat. No one witness was able to identify the attackers' faces, but several reported that the man possessed a pair of grey, feathery wings protruding from his back. Downtown is currently cordoned off and restricted to only police, investigators, and relatives of the deceased for identification purposes. Neo Valleran police forces have reported more than three hundred dead at this time, but this number is expected to rise as they continue to dig through the carnage.

Special News Report - HoloNet News

*A "special news report" hologram is broadcast across the HoloNet and relayed through hyperspace by a network of satellites to HoloNet transceivers on New Republic controlled planets. The bluish-white image of a Chalactan female news anchor sitting behind a desk flickers occasionally due to solar flares and other interference, as she looks directly into the holocam droid hovering in a news room on Coruscant and begins to speak.*
As of this hour, New Republic authorities have been dispatched to a remote sector near Hutt Space, after the disappearance of a CR90 transport carrying three New Republic ambassadors and two Jedi Knights. The names of the ambassadors and crew have not been released, but the Jedi Academy on Yavin 4 has confirmed that Jedi Knights Gavin Lurid and V'al Torlin were onboard the ship. A terrorist faction consisting mainly of Quarren extremists is claiming responsibility, although provided no additional information regarding the incident. It is unclear at this time whether the Quarren extremists are responsible for a similar occurrence in the Vallera system, involving the disappearance of a CC-9600 frigate earlier in the month. New Republic officials are concerned about the increase of hostilities in the Outer Rim due to the current border disputes and terrorist activity, and have been monitoring the situation closely. More on this story during our regular broadcast...
*The HoloNet transmission ends.*

*A news report is broadcast across the HoloNet and relayed through hyperspace to thousands upon thousands of HoloNet transceivers scattered across the galaxy. The image of an Iridonian male and a Chalactan female news anchor consisting of a ghostly bluish hue immediately follows the network logo, as the male looks directly at the holocam droid in front of him and prepares to deliver the main news report.*
Are we on? *He glances over to a technician in the news room on Coruscant.* Uh, how's my horns? Is there enough polish on them?
Oh! We're on? *The Iridonian briefly nods, then directs his attention to the holocam once more and clears his throat.*
There have been new developments in a story the galaxy has been following closely over the past week. Amidst the chaos unfolding in the Outer Rim, the New Republic ambassadors and Jedi Knights are reportedly alive and being held for ransom by a terrorist organization known as the V-Initivative. Jedi Knights Gavin Lurid and V'al Torlin were escorting three New Republic ambassadors on a diplomatic mission in the region when their CR90 transport was ambushed and boarded by members of the V-Initiative, including Quarren exiles. The ransom for the ambassadors and Jedi Knights is set at 45 000 credits each, but there is no word on whether the New Republic or the Jedi will negotiate.
*He turns slightly in his chair and faces the Chalactan female, indicating for her to proceed with the next story. She smiles faintly, before continuing with the news report.*
In related news, The New Republic has issued alerts for V-Initiative operative and Quarren exile, Larrik. He is reported to be coordinating his terrorist activities from the Meridian Sector and considered to be extremely dangerous.
*The HoloNet transmission ends once the entire news report is finished.*

*A somber scene is presented as the bright fanfare rolls to a close. Everyone's face is composed, but behind the iron mask forged by years of newscasting, of "Seeing it all," as they would put it, they are the people they represent. They are frightened. A Devaronian looks up to the camera as he introduces himself, making eye-contact with his audience.*

I am Voran Baque. Last night, a terrible shuttle crash enveloped the Republic Quarter of the peaceful city of Neo Vallera. As of late, our metropolis has assume the role of a business hub...and last night, all the world felt the shockwave. Authorities are still investigating if it was a fateful accident... or a terrorist attack. Regardless of the answer, however, among the rising death toll is our esteemed Senator... Raith Maher.

The reaction throughout the sector, even throughout the galaxy is one of sympathy and anticipation. Could this attack be caused by the rising threat of terrorism? The attacks have grown closer and more frequent. As of yet, no group has claimed to be responsable for such a dastardly attack.

The New Republic is tight-lipped about what they intend to do regarding such an event. Perhaps it is too early to tell.

*An elaborately dressed Quarren appears on HoloNet transceivers throughout the galaxy, standing in front of a large V-Initiative flag. His tentacles writhe in a subtle manner, and he clasps his large hands together behind his back, before finally speaking with the assistance of a translator droid.*
[This is a message to the government and peoples of the New Republic. The V-Initiavite claims responsibility for the attack on the New Republic government towers located on Vallera. Under my leadership, the V-Initiative will continue striking at unsuspected targets until the New Republic is thoroughly crippled. For too long, species like the our kind have tolerated the injustices brought upon us by the New Republic, and other governments of the past.
*Larrik pauses for a moment, half turning to face a reinforced door that slides open off camera. Two Quarren guardsmen drag the Jedi Knight, V'al Torlin in view of the holocam droid, and place her kneeling on the floor. She has been restrained with stun cuffs around her wrists and ankles, while a blindfold covers her eyes. As she is set in position, Larrik retrieves a holdout blaster pistol from a holster around his waist and places the barrel against Torlin's forehead. Without hesitating, he presses the trigger, discharging a single crimson blaster bolt to instantly kill her in cold blood. If Quarren could smirk, he certainly would... but he just turns and faces the camera when the dead Jedi drops to the floor beside him. He also raises the pistol in his right hand and waves it in front of the droid's camera lens.*
[One prisoner will be executed every standard hour, on the hour, until the New Republic pays the V-Initivative for their release. Consider the credits as a small token of compensation for the injustices suffered by our species. If the V-Initiative does not receive payment by the end of the time limit, another target will be selected for attack. You have been warned.]
*The transmission abruptly terminates.*

*From the moment the holofeed lights to the faces of the reporters, its clear the message is a good one. The fanfare seems brighter than usual, but still somber.*

Today, and unknown operative of the New Republic has negotiated for the release of all the prisoners of the recent terrorist actions. There are a few losses, and the kin of those souls have been notified.

The person responsable for their release remains nameless.

((This is in response to the last Bounty posted by Thulek Var))

*What appears to be a human male dressed in dark, loose hanging garb appears before the holocam. His features are hard to discern by the low-hanging cowl. His voice is calm, but menacing.*

This notice is to three parties.

The first: Those whom would decide that money is worth more than their lives. If you accept Larrik's bounty on me, you will condemn yourself to the pain and torment bound to follow during your attempt. But should you attempt to collect on my associates, I swear by all, you will find the punishment offered by the first to be a grand mercy.

The second: To the Quarren Exiles. By the executions of your leader, by the murders by his gun, by the millions vaporized by his ship, you are so guilty, too. Set down your arms, turn away now, and you will be spared. Continue, and your deaths are assured. Both of your person, and of your cause.

The third: Larrik. By your actions, your dishonor, your devious and dastardly ways you have been set you on a course which has but one outcome. I have put terrorists assunder before. You may either surrender now to stand trial for your crimes under Valleran law, or you will one day soon wished you had faced the justice of those you have wrongly slain! For mine will be far crueler.

All of you have been warned. This is your first and your last... from here forward you will pay in souls for what you take.

Deh'aggorach ven aktan vora'tan, ektah.

*The image fades quickly.*

*In response to the HoloNet transmission relayed by Durath val'Khan, the leader of the Quarren exiles stands before a holocam droid once again. A symbol of the V-Initiative is directly behind him, along with two Quarren standing in as guards to either side of the aquatic humanoid. He raises a large clawed hand, pointing his index finger at the camera lens, and narrowing his lavender eyes.*
[The V-Initiaive is not, and will never be intimidated by a wet Bantha monger like Durath val'Khan, or his cronies. You have chosen to fight in a war you cannot win. I will personally see to it that every last wretched piece of fodder you consider an associate, dies an excruciatingly painful death.]
*Each of the tentacles underneath his chin writhe individually, before he lowers his right arm and takes a step forward.*
[The audacity of a single being will bring death and ruination upon the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy. Any Jedi brought to the V-Initiative, dead or alive, will result in a reward of 17 000 credits. You have brought this on yourself, Durath val'Krath. As for the prisoners released into your custody... the Jedi Knight you were expecting is still in captivity onboard my ship. The Imperial remnant has asked for the Jedi to be handed over, as part of our "terms of agreement". You, along with the New Republic, have lost this day.]
*End transmission.*
