The Narrator 7:54pm, May 07, 2015 [Edit] [Delete] | In the world of Horror, there are many organizations, factions of great power that make up the major players. Using this format for listing each one.
Name: Self-explanatory
Canon: Where it comes from. If you made it up or if its an OC organization from a canon universe(ex: Merc group from Hellsing, Coven of Witches from Dresdenverse, etc) be sure to list it here.
Location: Wherever they are in the world. America, China, etc.
Main Population: Who they rule, if any. Mages, goblins, etc.
Short Bio: What they are and what they do. |

Name: The Men of Letters
Canon: Supernatural, canon-wielding to Scooby Doo.
Location: Worldwide. The primary chapters are located in America, Australia and Scotland.
Main Population: Hunters and scholars.
Short Bio: The Men of Letters was a global secret organization of scholars who research the supernatural. They undergo a period of teaching in areas of arcane knowledge and rituals and, if they pass, are initiated into the most secret knowledge. They saw hunters as a necessary evil in doing their work, but viewed their use of violence with contempt.
The most recent resurrection of the Men of Letters organization has changed their policy since on this. Led by Velma Dinkley, they take a more pro-active approach to their work, not only protecting their expanse of collective knowledge, but also training their initiates with the information they have.
Initiates are expected to have a working knowledge of most branches of magic, if unable to cast it themselves, as well as a deep and primary knowledge of hunting and banishing demons and outsiders in particular, as both in the past had been the main enemy that managed to wipe out their order.
Australia's chapter is primarily focused on wilderness survival tactics as well as weapons training, with America focusing on the investigative side of things and Scotland with magic, obscured by the local wizarding world boarding school to mask their presence and actions. |

Name: The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. AKA "The B.P.R.D."
Canon: Hellboy series.
Location: Safehouses Worldwide, with Headquarters located in New Jersey.
Main Population: An eclectic mix of all sorts.
Short Bio: The BPRD was founded in late 1944 by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm to combat various occult threats uncovered in operations against Nazi Germany. It initially had strong links to the USAAF and was based at a military airbase in New Mexico, but later relocated to a custom built facility in New Jersey. It maintains strong links to various branches of the United States Armed Forces to this day. Officially, it does not exist on the Government Records, save to the highest ranking authority cleared for it. Its closest counterpart would be the Hellsing organization in Great Britain, as both combat monster-aligned threats and both employ the services of a "Trashman".
Professor Bruttenholm is its current director. |

Name: The Hellsing Organization
Canon: Hellsing series.
Location: Great Britain.
Main Population: Primarily humans with at least two vampires on the payroll.
Short Bio: The Hellsing Organization more formally known as the Royal Order of Protestant Knights is an organization devoted to any and all supernatural threats that threaten the British Empire as a whole. Its headquarters are at the Hellsing Mansion located on the outskirts of London.
Founded by Doctor Abraham Van Hellsing around the 18th century, the organization is known for their modern anti-terrorist tactics upon supernatural threats, as well as the infamous "Trashman" who the current director wields as her main weapon against enemies.
They have a particularly dark reputation among the vampire courts and clans and often, just their name is enough to quell most unrest within their territory. |

Mr Heartland 9:06pm, May 07, 2015 [Edit] [Delete] |
Name: The Barians
Canon: Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL
Location: New York City, headquartered at The Bleeding Heart in Queens
Main Population: Mages
Short Bio: An empire built on the back of one man's aspiration, Barians are so named not for their loyalty to Mr. Heartland - their ringleader - but rather their loyalty to the drug he monopolizes to the mages of New York City. The Barians are a mage cartel, dealing not only in the distribution of Baria but also drugs for the mundane, and serve as the center of an underground dueling arena and gambling hall.
The group is small, but its roots run surprisingly deep; more than a few high profile mages hide their addictions well. The magic community frowns upon the distribution of Baria yet in the same breath they tolerate it for its usefulness in the ruthless world of arcane infighting. At the center of it all is The Bleeding Heart, a fount of information to those willing to pay, and to serve. Good and evil both are welcomed, so long as the ante is paid. For now, his neutrality allows Heartland to play his games unperturbed.
Attempts to steal the secrets of Baria production are met with unforgiving violence. Rumors abound of Mr. Heartland's attempts to expand his sphere of influence and distribute his drugs further into the city...

| The Court of Snow |
The Storyteller 12:36am, May 08, 2015 [Edit] [Delete] |
Name: The Court of Snow
Canon: Dresdenverse with a dash of True Blood
Location: Throughout the US, more prevalent in certain cities - Atlantic City, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Reno - any place with a reputation for debauchery and/or prostitution
Main Population: White Court Vampires, "Fangbangers", various Fae and Demons. Mainly those who depend on siphoning emotion, and lust in particular
Short Bio: The Court of Snow is open to any being who either has a need to draw on the emotions of mortals, or their willing - or not so willing - thralls who are dependent on the thrills gained from the feedings. Recently, the Court ran afoul of a Negrini, a Black Court Vampire 'visiting' from southern Africa. They've begun taking steps to end Negrini's 'visit' as soon as possible. Normally, however, they simply organize feeding dens for emotional drainers of all types, presided over by the White Court Vampires, who reap the rewards, both monetary and otherwise, from maintaining these dens. Normally these are secret, and kept hidden. Death of 'food' is highly frowned upon, and this is normally an organization who works within the tenets of remaining hidden from the mortal world. |

Name: Yggdmillennia Corporation
Location: Worldwide, particularly in Europe and Asia.
Canon: Fate series
Main Population: Magic-users of all kinds
Short Bio: Known as the Tree of a Thousand Realms, the Yggdmillennia Corporation started as a unique clan of magi that takes in other families rather than continue a single bloodline. Though they have a long history, they are not a family of Lords. They abandoned the common method of thickening the blood of thaumaturgical potential over generations while mastering the thaumaturgical system chosen by the first generation. They instead took in all magi families with even the smallest connections to them from all over the world.
It is at this point that their fate began to transcend that of those Lords they left behind at the Clock Tower.
At some point the Yggdmillennia clan decided to open their doors not only to families that married into their clan, who practiced the same kind of magecraft as they - through the use of circuits and family Crests, but to all magic users in the world. The wand wielding wizards from magic schools, independent contractors that were swayed from the White Council and hedge wizards and minor covens. So long as they took on the name "Yggdmillennia" as their last name they found a safe zone to practice and train in every and all kinds of magic, with a couple exceptions.
One of the families under the umbrella of the group now known as the Yggdmillennia Corporation is the renowned Ploteus family. Unlike many of the founding families within the clan, the Ploteus family could have been considered Lords, having a long, prestigious history and vast fortune. While at the beginning, the Clock Tower derrided their decision to "defile" their blood by marrying into commoners, they quickly rose in fame, power, wealth and prominence within the vast corporation, to the point where, while not the head of it, their influence can not be ignored.

Name: The Franchetti Family
Canon: The Darkness series.
Location: New York City.
Main Population: Mundanes clued in on the paranormal and supernatural. As well as anyone else who joins up with them, supernatural or otherwise.
Short Bio: The Franchetti Family is an Italian-American organized crime family located in New York City. Originally a strictly mundane crime family, it was flung onto the stage of the Hidden world after the Estacado's joined and the Darkness chose them as its hosts.
Eventually, after a violent coup Jackie Estacado using the power of the Darkness took control of the family and consolidated himself as a power, using the Darkness as his trump card. Its also enabled him to sign on the Unseelie Accords as a Freeholding Lord, sponsored by the Order of the Blackened Denarius, his counterpart in Chicago "Gentleman" Johnny Marcone and a legal representative of Wolfram & Hart's law firm.
This binds him to the letter of the Unseelie Accords, but at the same time grants him immunity in many ways, as the Darkness is sought and feared by many clued into its true nature. His family current specializes in brute muscle and security for many other cartels.
