 What´s where in the mansion.

Alright... soon as my scanner works I´ll be scanning these pages in. But just wanted to give a quick overview, since we´re always goin "what´s where?"

Before I get to the mansion itself, note that the grounds are HUGE, have a lot of land with a lost of forest, and to get from the mansion to the boat house is quite a hike. Also, the gardens are a distance, but about half that of the lake. And the drive to the mansion from Graymalkin Lane is of a decent length as well.

There are two floors above ground, and three basement levels. The *´d floors are for X-Team use only, and specially authorized non-X-Team personnel. When I say Left or Right, it assumes you´re standing in front of the mansion and looking at it.

Attic, which I think Storm still has?
Second Floor
Ground Floor
Basement
Sub-Basement A*
Sub-Basement B*

Second Floor:
Women´s Dormitories are in the left wing, with a study hall at one end. The connecting branch contains automated laundry services, which students have to get their OWN clothes to. Bath and dressing rooms are in the connector branch as well, as is a Galley and small set of stairs to the attic. In the center block is Xavier´s Bedroom, some reading areas, and stairs the staircase throughout the house. The right connecting block and right wing pretty much mirror the women´s, but it´s the Men´s dorms.

Ground Floor: Left wing: Parlor room (*shrug*) and a formal dining room. In the connector is the kitchen. Center contains the stairs going up, the conventional high speed elevator, public restroom, hidden panel of robotic defense, public telephone, formal sitting room, and outside is the patio, which goes to the pool, which has both high and low dives. The right connector gontains the Gallery and an anteroom. Int he right wings are the Day Room and Professor Xavier´s Office, both of which are accessible by the Library.

Basement:
Left wing: Book Storage, Ready Room, Foruniture Storage, and Wine Cellar. In the left connector is the Oil Heater. Center block contains Major laundry room and a workshop, as well as stairs to the ground floor. The right connector contains the Water Heater, and the Right wing holds the Computer system main memory, and above grade power backups.

First Sub Basment: standard mansion shape no longer applies, but this contains another smaller Women´s Dorm and a Men´s dorm. Also contians the Physics Lab, Chemical/BioChemical/BioElectriconic Lab, as well as the Gymnasium, indoor pool, sauna/whirlpool, and the lockers and showers. In a slightly seperate branch is the Operating theater, automated surgery, and supplies/pharmacy. At the opposite end are the high speed personal transport to aircraft, which in emergencies can get team members the .62 mile distance to the launch pad and blackbird, in 20 seconds.

Oh yeah, and one for McCoy: seems that all undergraduate students are required to spend a total of 72 hours per semester interning in the Med Lab, which counts as 23% of that final grade.

SubBasement B:

War Room: contains all sorts of shit. Intelligence monitoring from NORAD Central Command, SHIELD Intelligence, nightly news, FAA Flight patterns, personnel files for Engaldsn MI6, former Soveit Union´s KGB info, if it´s out there it´s most likely here. And you CANNOT trace the security leaks back to the mansion, b/c of Shi´ar design, augmented by Forge.

The other, slightly larger, half of this level is taken up by the Danger Room. There´s a ready room, the control room area which has the master controls and a one way viewport, and the debriefing rooom. Oh, and obviously, the DR itself.

-----

One thing I´m not certain on is the exactly placement of the main Cerebro. It´s designed for psi talented, but those who aren´t can sort of manage if they´re properly trained.. I think it´s in a sectioned off part of the War Room. Non-authorized use of Cerebro is strictly prohibited, and you´ll probably scramble your brain if you try.

The Nerve Center is the mansion´s most secured room, and any unauthorized entry WILL result in expulsion. Keep in mind that most characters probably will not even know much about it, as usually senior officers are the only ones headin´ in there. This one I´m not even sure if it´s part of the mansion... I think it´s below the other leves.

Oh yes, forgot one thing. There are transport tubes in a few places through the mansion, should team members need to get to the lower levels with great speed.
 Post Script.

Security doors are contructed of Adamantium melded steel, and have bio molecular locking mechanisms that only respond to Xavier and senior staff, ´less you´ve been cued in too. Electromechanical scurity devides also regulate entry to restricted areas, as well as localized Force Fields.

Random students cannot simply "wander into" the war room or danger room, or even "wander into" that floor, assuming you actually find the access, the computer will stop you.

While Xavier doesn´t subscribe to the theory himself, Dr. Moira MacTaggert´s argues that continued exposure to reality simulation may dull one´s senses to danger rather than sharpen it. In deference to her expertise on combat related stress and post-trauma orientation, Holo-specific Danger Room activity is restricted to 13 hours a week.

Doors made of adamantium? Not likely. Considering how rare the metal is. A strong type of metal yes, maybe even secondary adamantium, but not true adamantium.

No no no... you´ve all got it wrong. There is no such thing as adamantium so how can the doors be made of it. See the real story of the doors is as mysterious and twisted a tail as they come.

Long ago when legends were young and people were too people got together and decided that things would be alot easier if they developed a system of currency. It all started out very simple, people would use such things as stones, fish bones, cat heads, and unborn baby fetuses.

So Johnny Appleseed looked at the world and saw that there was just something missing, and his "alone time" just wasnt cutting it anymore. So he set out on a little adventure of his own.

In closing, I´m real scared... i mean 1 was great, 2 was funny, but a 3rd Austin Powers? How much longer before its just not any good!?!

Just to add, if the chat is moving toward the more current X-stuff, which I´m pretty sure it is (considering most of the X-Men are either the new ones that just recently came in, or are now sporting the new uniforms), Then there would also be Cerebra, which is located in McCoy´s lab.

To add to the security measures of the mansion, the main gate is outfitted with Stark International Anti-Acceleration Field Generators to prevent ramming.

And the doors of the subbasesments are adamantium-melded steel.

Just so you guys know, recently in the comics, they expanded the Mansion quite abit to accomidate all the new students rushing in. So, it's much larger now, with expanded dorm wings, a cafeteria, alot more class rooms, a memorial garden (though this isn't needed for us, cause Jean isn't dead), and a few other things. I just thought it may make more sense for the chat to more toward using that mansion-type, since there's obviously alot more characters that just the average twelve to fifteen that usually live there.

Here's some pics of the new mansion:

Actually, just FYI, the current Mansion doesn't match the comic one, yet. Though, I'll be fixing that in an upcoming RP, so be warned. >:)

The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: X-Men 2004 has a complete layout of the new mansion, shows off the redesigned danger room, War-Room, and Sage's Stablehouse.

If/when I can get to a scanner, I'll scan in the pages and post them here so you guys can get a better look at it.

Also, on an unrelated note, the handbook has updated profiles for all of the X-Men that are currently in the comics, which would Beast, Bishop, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Gambit, Havok, Iceman, Juggernaut, Marvel Girl (Rachel Summers/Grey), Nightcrawler, Polaris, Professor X, Shadowcat, Rogue, Sage, Storm, and Wolverine. So, if you're curious about what's happened recently, it's a good read.

Hurray for boredom. Somebody who's good at making maps should us some official layouts of the mansion and the grounds and such. Seeing as everyone probably has a different idea about how things are laid out. And that way, you can even assign people rooms and silly things like that.

Also, this is the original layout. The newest version of the mansion would probably be better suited for the chat, seeing as it's built to hold lots of students, instead of just a few X-Men. But yeah...whoever, if anyone happens to work on it. I may be do it if I get up the patience.

Actually, Josh and I are developing our own layouts for this version of the mansion. I just haven't had a chance to draw them out what with the job and all. I will as soon as I can. Hopefully this assignment isn't too much longer. I'm about to go nuts.
