...I got to thinking that with the amount of newer people/people who were here ages ago then left for ages then came back more recently/etc. it might not be such a bad idea for a post to be made that lists the major happenings that have occurred over the past few years. Things that affected the mansion/the city/the country/the world in such a way that every character who has been alive for the past few years in the chat's world would be aware of, but newer players might not be.

It wouldn't have to be involved and detailed. I'm just talking, say, making a list of things like the Statue of Liberty getting blown up (and if anything was put up on the site afterward), France/Spain getting asteroid-ed (and what status they're at now, if there's been any change)...you know, major things like that. Not so much "So-and-so had three intense bouts of personal drama which, while personal-life-changing and very interesting/traumatic/well-done/etc., did not have a major impact on the mansion or life at large."

Wouldn't be that hard, would it? Just major things that people should know, that might affect plans/backstories/thoughts they're having in the future. That way people wouldn't have to rummage logs til the cows come home, or search through board posts that might have been deleted years ago. One-stop major history and plot points shopping, as it were.

I'm looking at you, adminnish types. ^_^ Though anyone who wants to contribute, hey, what the hell. As long as it gets thought about and/or done, if anybody feels the idea has merit.

*Blinks* And the board posts about each major plot doesn't tell you this?

Where's the board post about the Statue of Liberty? Where's the board post about the asteroid? Yes, there are posts about current major plots. I mean the older ones.

I thought I went through the board pretty thoroughly, but maybe I missed something. But that's my point: People might not be so inclined to go back through posts from four years ago. If it can take fifteen minutes and have it at-hand... *shrug*

That's not a bad idea, I totally forgot about both the Statue of Liberty thing and Paris being turned into a crater.

Well, I've been here over a year, and this is the first I've ever even heard of the asteroids or of the Statue of Liberty. So It must not of had that big of an effect...

Actually, it had quite an effect. But it happened 3 or 4 years ago, so it's not quite as...in-one's-face, maybe?...as it had been. The people who blew up the Statue were a mutant rock band, ReVolt, who ended up being at the mansion then for quite awhile. They did it under the influence of Dreamstalker, it was eventually discovered, but in the meantime it was one of the original catalysts of the major anti-mutant furor, and if I remember rightly, even the founding of the AMTF. So the event and the fallout and all the spin-off RPs were a pretty big deal for a pretty long while.

And the asteroid? That was Doc Ock's handiwork, I think, but frankly can't remember offhand. Took out damn near all of France and part of Spain, so it was a pretty big deal too...even though people didn't play with/off it much, perhaps, since it didn't happen on this side of the ocean.

This is why I was interested in having a sort of summary list. Even if something doesn't directly affect what's happening right now, there are things that went on that people should be aware of...because without what happened before, there are a lot of things that wouldn't be happening now. *shrug* But Remy said that he was already putting together something like that for the website, so I reckon it'll be put up soon.

With the asteroid, the thing was that was T's work, which puts that entire set up in something of a retcon limbo much like everything else he tried to introduce into the chat. O_o

As for events that everyone knows about, that will require a bit of research into the comics as well as the chat.

The appearance of Galactus in the middle of New York
Magneto's EMP blast that knocked out Earth's power for a few days
The High Evolutionary turning off all mutant powers for half a week
and a couple of alien invasions spring to the forefront of my memory from the comics.
