"Welcome to Lower Bastion!" The chipper voice over the PA system seems a complete juxtaposition from the dark, grimy view out the windows of the train. "The largest underplate city on the planet!"
"The ONLY underplate city on the planet," a scruffy, raggedy old woman says in a ray, smokers voice. Her hair is matted into a single dread, and half of her teeth are missing as she smiles at you. "They tell you that so you think it's something to be proud of.
The voice over the PA continues to ramble off facts and tourist information as the train comes to a stop. The door slides open and you exit, leaving the perceived safety of the overground's train and stepping onto the squeaking boards of the Lower Bastion station. It feels like the floor could give out at any moment.
Above you, giant buildings rise into air, from the ground up to the underside of the massive plate that blocks the sky. This area hasn't seen sunlight in a century. The air is stale, moist, and motionless; with the plate above and the walls all around there is no place for a breeze here. Sometimes the fans kick on to cycle the air, but they're probably under repair again.
Everything down here seems filthy. The ground looks too dirty to want to put your shoes on it, the walls are all slightly sticky with substances you aren't sure you wish to ask about. Someone screams in the distance, as someone else laughs.
This is Lower Bastion; the home of the poor and the lowlifes.

The Hallow

The Hallow is the main club located near the center of Lower Bastion. Owned and operated by the Grey family, it contains numerous rooms that can be rented, a bar for the thirsty, a small casino for the lucky, a boxing ring in the back for practice and the occasional betting fight, and several areas under construction.
Grey's Hallow (as it is often referred to) is much cleaner than most of the lower city, as it is owned by Alistair Grey, a wealthy mobster who lives in the upper city. His son, Killian Grey, lives in the suite at the top floor of the club. Below that are 2 other floors divided into 4 suites, then several floors of apartments. Below the apartments are daily/weekly rental rooms, then the casino floor. The ground floor is the bar, club room, and restaurant. Basement floor contains the boxing ring, and several private rooms.
Fighting is strictly prohibited in any floor above ground. If you have a conflict, take it to the ring. There is also a pit, if the ring is too official for you.
