Hi people,

I will use this thread to answer questions and guide new people to read up on to get an overview of what is what in the chat. If you have any questions you feel will be useful for all to see, then please either ask in this thread or ask me inchat/on AIM.

--------------
SETTING
--------------

What are the Ne'Kressis?

The Nekressis are the arch rival of the chat, performing the role of the main antagonist. They are an alien race, from another galaxy that have invaded and made great progress. They are arachnid, yet are hairless, and exist solely within an hive-like state. They possess immunity to targetted effects of the force and cannot be sensed within it, along with their technology which is far more advanced than the rest of the galaxy. The Nekressis have many followers, from simple folk who just believe them to be the new upcoming rulers, to the Eclipse Order - a religious sect who believe them to be the oncoming messiahs and gods. They consider every other race beneath them, as 'inferior' with a particular contempt for force-users who are known as 'impure'. The colour of their exoskeleton (Though some like the Beteris with wings are more obvious) determines the clan which they are from, wheres the clans form the Nekressis Imperium to which are governed by a council of thirteen known as The Ruling Council.

Who controls the NeKressis?

The Nekressis are run by the administration or by certain key individuals. Do not attempt to register Nekressis characters, although this does not stop you from registering characters sympathetic to the Nekressis cause. (This being total domination of the galaxy)

Where are the Vong?

The Nekressis plotline was started long before the Vong storyline did. True fact. The Vong do not exist in this timeline and any literature from the New Jedi Order series of books does not apply. Aspects of technology however will be considered on a case by case basis.

Whats going on?

A great many things. For a full history, please go to: http://pjj.cc/swrpg/jbb/?pid=3997. To see a current galactic situation, the galactic map looks: http://holonet.shadowofdeceit.com, with the green indicated Nekressis aligned held territory.

In summary, the Nekressis have cut the galaxy in half, dividing the galactic governments of the New Republic and Imperial Remnant. The New Republic recently reconquered Corellia from the Nekressis, it's first major victory, along with help from the Imperial Remnant. Imperials and Rebels?!?!?! I hear you cry! Yes, the New Republic and Imperial Remnant are allied together in this setting. The political landscape pretty much pits most characters against the nexus that is the Nekressis and its pawns.

Also recently, one of the Nekressis clans split off to spark a civil war and has arrived with a fleet at Coruscant to 'propose' an alliance to the New Republic. How this plays out is still to be decided.

Meanwhile, the Eclipse Order are launching counterattacks across the borders on behalf of their masters, and are hard at work in various terrorist plots.

The setting is roughly 23/24 years after ANH

What can I do?

You can be a pilot. You can be a mechanic. You can be an Imperial or a New Republic...an? You can fight the Ne'Kressis menace. You can die to the Ne'Kressis menace. You can be a senator. You can be president. Join the military. Join a cult. You can be a Jedi, though be warned that being a Jedi in this time frame is likely going to be VERY bad for your health. Everyone hates Jedi. There are standing bounties on Jedi.

Oh! You can be a bounty hunter. You can RP small-scale. You can RP large-scale. You can, really, do whatever you like. Except play Ne'Kressis. That's fairly off-limits.

The moral of the story, though, is that the sky is the limit.

Will there be planned RP events?

And how! What differentiates SoD from every other Star Wars chat is that the plot isn't just background noise to private roleplays. There are no farce wars here; it is entirely likely that the reality of the setting will strike your character hard and fast.

SoD has prided itself on large-scale events, from the retaking of Corellia to the invasion and eventual destruction of Yavin IV. There will be more of these events, maybe as often as every other week. It depends on you, the chatter, and your interest level. Don't worry about not having a character that's not right for the planned event. GMs will do special registration for event characters (and will even let you keep your character if you survive!).

Will there be a central RP location?

Yes. Mos Eisely and the surround space of Tattooine will be the main focus area for roleplay within the chat. However, roleplay may happen across the galaxy such as Coruscant, Corellia or even the Nekressis home galaxy itself.

FACTION SPECIFIC
-----------------

What's the State of the New Republic?

The New Republic unlike other chats is one of the most active factions in the game. It is beset upon all sides from enemies within and out. It has tight control of the Core Systems and is active war footing, with an emergency Inner War Council setup for authority within the senate. The New Republic has also been responsible for many of the key technological advancements and tactics to prove successful verses the Nekressis. Such key technological achievements include: Cluster missiles, The Camelot Cruiser class, The V Wing Interceptors and the Jed-Eye. An important note is that Bothawui is nolonger part of the New Republic and has defected to the Nekressis Imperium.

Whose leading the New Republic?

The President of the New Republic is currently President Delaric, who is currently in an NPC state.
The current head of the Inner War Council is Kuat representative, Senator Drax Milamber and is run by V
Militaristic lead is Navy-General Shane Coltar ran by Mazzik

Where are the Jedi Located and what is their status?

The Jedi Order are currently located at a fairly box-standard stronghold upon Coruscant. They have additional projects in the pipeline for a mobile base on a vessel and within the Outer Rim, like Tatooine and Ryloth. The Order is seriously reduced, to a fraction of it's strength. The loss at Yavin IV crippled the Order and even the standard galactic citizens are taunted by the rich rewards offered by the Nekressis for Jedi handover. They are heavily aligned to the New Republic. Be warned: Being a Jedi is a risky proposition in this setting and simply 'being lucky' can have you end up hunted by the Eclipse, eager to present a gift of an 'impure' to their masters.

Whose leading the Jedi Order?

Rihani Ambrai is the current de-facto leader of the Jedi Order (ran by Azhrei), after the death of Luke Skywalker during the Battle of Yavin.

What are the Eclipse and their status?

The Eclipse Order are a network/organization that worship the Nekressis as their 'saviours' or Gods. They believe frankly that the alien overlords are the best thing to happen to the galaxy since sliced bread. They are zealous and zany and their army swells through propaganda to state the inevitable Nekressis victory.
They possess temples throughout the Outer and Inner Rim, and play havoc through terrorist attacks upon both New Republic and Imperial Remnant alike.

They recently stole one of the most powerful battleships in the galaxy - a Camelot-class cruiser with cargo of V-Wing Interceptors.

The current leaders of the Eclipse include Zhalimar (Ran by V) and Teniel Adyrnn. ran by D.

What's the State of the Imperial Remnant(Empire)?

The Imperial Remnant recently repaired Yaga Minor and sent their main complete battle fleet to assist the New Republic at Corellia. They are currently probing Nekressis territory for vital intelligence and helping to assist the crippled NRI in decryption of Directorate codes. The 'Empire' or Imperial Remnant are focussed on Bastion, yet they maintain a consul on Coruscant.

Whose Leading the Imperial Remnant(Empire)?

Currently, the Empire/Imperial Remnant is led by a group of Moff's and no key individual. Perhaps one will rise up to make his voice heard.

What about the Aurora?

The Aurora Coalition was purged by the Nekressis with a splinter group of Aurora Prime forming to help combat the Nekressis in former Aurora space near Hutt Space. For all intents and purposes, the Aurora Prime are now part of the New Republic yet operate as a resistance within Nekressis held territory. Players may feel free to create characters with background of the horrific Nekressis purge of the Coalition and its territory.

NEKRESSIS BACKGROUND
----------------------

What are the Nekressis clans?

The main clans of the Nekressis are as follows:
Eki'shnak (Blue tint) - Noble class - 2(3)
Shek'dai (Black tint) - Hunter class - 0
Har'shook (Brown tint) - Warrior class - 2
Be'teris (Winged, evolution) - Warrior class - 1
U'aiou (Yellow tint) - Librarian class - 1
G'keti (Orange tint) - Medical class - 2
Je'krakto (Red tint) - Intelligence/Recon class - 2
Rhy'sahri (Green tint) - Engineer class - 2

The number is how many seats the clan represents on the Ruling Council. The Ekishnak used to possess 3, until recently when one of their number was assassinated by the Shek'dai. It is interesting to note that the clans that participated with the Shek'dai in the Shek'dai war possess only one seat, where the Shek'dai possessed none.

There are dozens of minor clans within the Nekressis, but unless they evolve to a state that leads them unable to be ignored or to defeat a current main clan, they will always be subservant to the rest.
