This is a quick break down of the kinds of ships used by Mandalorians.

Transports: The Lictor-class dungeon ship, also known as an Imperial dungeon ship, was a versatile warship and mobile prison originally designed for use by the Mandalorian Neo-Crusader Fleet during the Mandalorian Wars. The design proved resilient enough that it was still in use nearly four thousand years after its conception.

Characteristics

A holding cell onboard a dungeon ship. The versions used by the Galactic Empire were equipped with universal energy cages, holding cells, drop bays, and sparring chambers where Dark Side Adepts could battle captive Jedi. They were designed to intimidate, and gained a reputation for never returning a captive who entered them. Guard droids were used to help prevent Jedi escapes.

In order to ensure that prisoners couldn't revolt and commandeer a vessel, their navicomps only were able to hold two sets of coordinates (the home base and the destination), and so could only go to those locations.

In addition to the MandalMotors design, there was also the scaled down Kiltirin-class, manufactured by Rendili StarDrive.

History

It was originally constructed by MandalMotors for use by the Mandalorians during the Mandalorian Wars, and may have been the basis for the Kandosii-type dreadnaughts used in that conflict. At least one Lictor saw action at the Battle of Vanquo.

The Lictor-class dungeon ship the Revelator was dispatched to accompany Inquisitor Valin Draco on a mission to the Cularin system, not long after the end of the Clone Wars.

During the aftermath of the Imperial Civil War in 10 ABY, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 were transported on an Imperial dungeon ship to Byss, the secret throne world of the "reborn" Emperor Palpatine. By that time, a dungeon ship could be purchased for 7.8 million

Assualt Ships: The Jehavey'ir-type assault ship was utilized by the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders during the Mandalorian Wars.

Characteristics

Assault ship stern. Similar in appearance to contemporary Mandalorian Kyramud-type battleships, as they were both based on Basilisk technology, the assault ships were propelled by five engines and were armed with five medium double turbolasers, three heavy ion cannons and six super-heavy concussion missile launchers.

Based on comments by Rear Admiral Saul Karath, the Jehavey'ir-type was also used as a troop transport.

History

Ships of this kind participated in the Battle of Vanquo, and later on, in the bombing of Serroco during the Battle of Serroco. They helped take the flagship Courageous after a lengthy chase.

Carries: Mandalorian carriers were used by the True Mandalorians to transport Meteor-class Q-Carriers during the Mandalorian Civil War.

Characteristics

This vessel had several hangars of various sizes lining the sides, where Q-Carriers could disembark for each mission. At least eight dropships could fit inside the carrier. The vessel were armed with several twin gun turrets, mounted along the sides of the ship.

A briefing room was located inside the ship, where military units would be briefed before each drop. The carrier had enough living space to support at least three companies.

Starfighters: The Gladiator assault fighter was a one man starfighter used by Mandalore Fenn Shysa's Mandalorian Protectors near the end of his reign.

Characteristics

It was said to resemble a Rattatakian short sword thrust through the hilt of a Tlönian escutcheon.

The Gladiator had no nav computer. They would travel in packs of four with a Pursuer-class enforcement ship, which would slave the Gladiator's systems for hyperspace travel.

It was more maneuverable than an E-wing escort starfighter, and armed with J3F laser cannons and an ArMek SW-12c ion cannon

Corvetes: The Crusader-class corvette was a warship in use during the Galactic Civil War. It was produced by Mandal Hypernautics and named after the ancient Mandalorian Crusaders.

Characteristics

A Crusader-class corvette. Made to counter starfighters and bombers, the Crusader-class corvette carried as many weapons as it could without compromising its space-worthiness. It was also faster than any other similar ship of its time. Together, these made the Crusader an extremely pricey vessel.

Crusaders were also known to utilize an advanced point-defense weapon system that allowed the ships to actually shoot down enemy missiles or torpedoes before they damaged friendly ships. This made the corvettes a valuable support addition to a fleet.

They were possibly based on the Kandosii-type dreadnaught of earlier centuries.

History

Ships of this class were part of the naval forces built up by the crimelord Tyber Zann in his crusade to gain galactic influence. They would be used as a component of his relatively sizable fleet. Two Crusaders later served in Natasi Daala's Maw Irregular Fleet.

Battle Ships: The Keldabe-class battleship was one of several different warship classes utilized by Tyber Zann's faction and others in the Galactic Civil War. At least one vessel of this class was employed by the Mandalorians during the Galactic Civil War.

Characteristics

Like the Crusader-class corvette, it was a Mandal Hypernautics design. It was named for Mandalore's capital, Keldabe.

Rear view of a Keldabe-class battleship.Ships of the class were able to compete with the Galactic Empire's Imperial-class Star Destroyers. Keldabes were armed with turbolasers, ion cannons, and a special mass driver weapon capable of firing directly through enemy shields. The mass drivers were located in between the two engine systems and at the front of the ship.

An interesting facet of the ship's design was that they were capable of actually leeching energy from enemy vessels and shields to power its own weapon systems. Whether this was a product of the ship's original construction or whether Tyber Zann added his own modifications in is unknown.

Overall, they were approximately a third more powerful than the Consortium's Aggressor-class destroyers, but this also led them to be much more expensive.

History

The Consortium obtained the Keldabe after its pirates extorted plans from Mandal Hypernautics. Zann, although annoyed by the pirate's disobeying of his orders to leave the shipyards alone, nonetheless added the Keldabe to his fleet, after executing the offending pirate. Keldabes were used in many Consortium operations, such as the Second Battle of Kuat
