After the battle of Coruscant, the Senate District was wiped out in the resulting explosion of the Imperial Star Destroyer that plowed into the district thanks to a skilled timed operation of taking down the shields in that district and leaving a gap long enough for the ship to pass through before the rest of the system adjusted. The destruction killed millions, and left a large debris cloud that is being combated by the weather control systems of coruscant. While the rest of the planet is decently off, the districts closer to the Senate District are suffering a winter from the dust cloud blocking out the sun. Reflective mirrors and heating systems are working overtime in that section with rescue teams to try and help anyone they can.
Until such time as the Senate is rebuilt, the surviving Senate members have relocated to Corellia and established a temporary Senate on that planet.
