Somnium is the world the chat is set in, the Civilized Lands are the main setting inside the world.

*Note: This is a really crappy quick sketched map that's a place holder until something better is done.

Lands and locations of Age of Somnium

Civilized Lands - The main setting of the chat, and considered the richest of the landmasses around the world.

- Mir Aerathian - Manor-City of the Elven Royalty. Capital of the Elven Nation, walled and guarded by the elite Elven City Guard.

- Aerathian Forest/City - Named after a great ruler of the Elven nation, the forests are spelled to defend the Elven city of Aerathian. Invaders and trespassers will become disoriented and lost and unable to advance further towards the Elven city. Forests are defended and patrolled by the Elven Rangers.

- Dagger's Tip - An outlying settlement of the various races. Often seen as isolationists, the villagers of the settlement just want to live in peace, but they offer some fishing hauls and farming surplus to Mirus in exchange for protection from the Mirus outlying outposts to help defend against raiders and pirates.

- Balfonheim Port - The major port city of the Civilized Lands, Balfonheim was named after a family of merchants who initially established the port town which quickly grew into a major city that imports exotic wares and foods, making the city an important and well guarded place of trade and commerce. Balfonheim has a merchant fleet that is well armed for dealing with pirate forces, though the fleet is not massive, and most of the commerce is contracted out to privateers.

- Rocksford - A farmining community that serves as the main source of food for Mirus and the outposts. Guarded by the Mirus army to protect against Gnome raids and anything that might come up from the Dwarven mines.

- Mirus - Considered to be the greatest city in the Civilized Lands, if not the whole world. Built in a combined effort of the three great races. Using Dwarven stone and skill, with elven design and human numbers to help in the work, the city was built in the exact center of the Mirus Mountain Range, which formed at the end of the War of the Dead. Once serving as the seat of the alliance between all the major races, eventually the alliance fell and the races grew apart, but the humans took sole control of Mirus, while not knowing all of the secrets of the great city. While Mirus has no farmable lands or lands for livestock, it brings in all it's food from the surrounding lands of the human kingdom and from imports from Balfonheim Port.

- Cuil River - Known as the River of Life that flows forth from the Mirus Mountains and past the Magus Tower. The river is vibrant and full of life. Fish flow along the river, and the lands that the river pass through are fertile and full of flora and fauna.

- South Pass - The main town in the southern lands of the human kingdom. South Pass serves as a waypoint for all travellers that are moving through the Civilized lands. The Commander of the Southland armies of Mirus also is stationed at South Pass, as the town is located at the main crossroads of the human kingdom. South Pass also has some farmland to help feed the outposts of the kingdom. South Pass is a large town that has many different sorts of people, especially for those who don't wish to directly deal with Mirus. Dawrves, Elves, Humans, and many other races live and mingle here, though the Mirus Kingdom rules here.

- Magus Tower - Home to the Mage Council and the vast wealth and knowledge of magic that the council has masses over the many long years. The tower is centered in a forest that covers the lands near the mouth of the Cucil River. The tower is protected from intruder by powerful magics and also contains a gateway to the airship that the council uses to travel the world.

- Stone Teeth Mountains - The large mountain range that is home to the drawven kingdom. Deep inside the ancient mountains, the vast underground kingdom of the dwarves mines the mountains for metals and jewels and other precious minerals. The dwarves produce weapons and armor for sale on the market to the other kingdoms, being the foremost arms dealers in the world.

- Land's End - A desolate land where the Gnome tribes have taken root. The land is stormy and gray, with sparse vegetation and small game that the gnomes live on.

- Southern Tail - To the very south of the Stone Teeth Mountains there is a path around the mountains that is seldom travelled. The path leads from Land's End to the Blasted Lands.

- Blasted Lands - A harsh and dry span of desert. Home to the Trolls, the lands are inhospitable, and have very little food and water to offer, plus the intense heat and sandstorms can easily kill a person who is stranded in the desert. The trolls often raid the Orcs and southern settlements of the human kingdom for supplies.

- Grog - The central Troll settlement where the warchiefs lead their people. Not much more than a collection of huts and tents made from hides.

- Bloodhaven - The capital of the Orc Nation. Bloodhaven is a city crafted from the bones of large ancient beasts and from stone, Bloodhaven is set in the center of the ring of mountains known as the Mountains of Despair.

- Mountains of Despair - A ring of mountains that shield the Orc nation from outside forces. The mountains are known for their rock slides and lethal beasts that live there.

- Fisherman's Peak - A fishing village that is the farthest human settlement from Mirus. Known to bring in the most expensive fish for the market, it's saftey is a prime concern for many fish merchants who hire private guard forces to protect the village from Troll and Orc raids. The village is often left alone due to how close Orcs and Trolls would have to pass near the forests of the Magus Tower, making them wary to try.

- Tirith Tol Engrin - A metal island fortress built at the end of the War of the Dead to serve as a lookout to the Dead Lands, to watch for the undead. However, over the years the resources needed to keep the fortress manned and the troops fed became too much of a drain that the island was abandoned and eventually fell to ruin. Covered in rust and now in a state of disrepair, the island is thought to be haunted and avoided by many, though some adventurers like to brave the island, to seek out lost treasures.

Ring Islands - A series of islands arranged in a circle that are connected by a vast array of bridges to allow travel between the islands.

- Nippon - The capital of the Ring Islands. Nippon's armed forces are some of the toughest fighters in the world, while not as large as the armies of Mirus, they are fierce. Nippon also has the largest navy in the world. Nippon is also home to many martial arts orders, often having warrior monks training and honing their skills.

Dead Lands - A desertet land mass where nothing but the dead reign. Once the staging grounds of the dead forces during the war of the dead, now an abandoned land where the waters are poisoned, the plants are stunted and strangled. The clouds hang overhead and always gray, with changes in weather from cold rain to cold winds.

- Fields of the Dead - Once a sight of a great battle in the war of the dead. The battle was turning against the dead, but eventually all the mounting deaths fueled the undead and raised the slain soldiers as new foot soldiers and repulsed the army of light from the land. Now the fields are dead with constant lightning storms overhead, many markers litter the ground to mark the final resting place of many of the great warriors from that war. Many mass graves cover this area as well.

- River Styx - Known as the River of Death. The waters are gray and dark, and drinking from it can make one sick and even cause one to die. The river runs the length of the land, darkening and killing life that surrounds the river.
