Earth-76: A totally original universe made into existence by the convergence of Earth-616(Marvel's primary universe) and Earth-One(DC's primary universe,) in Pre-History. Unlike other Crossover Universes, this universe grew and formed together, fusing Marvel and DC characters’ histories and stories together. This universe will take on a slightly more free-form approach where players will be able to develop characters’ histories a bit more, drawing from several sources of material and incorporating characters they may of otherwise never known.

While player freedom is prevalent in this Universe, we will lay out a basic history of what has happened on Earth-76 to give players a better understanding of the setting. Of course, mentioning every event in relation to every character in both DC and Marvel universes would be extensive, so we will instead provide only a brief history of key events including the formations of some Supergroups. Also of note is the fact that we are moving some of the dates up a bit to create a more modern feel to the room.

Earth-76 History(1935 - Present)

1936: Scientists in the United States and Germany independently discover the X-Gene

1939: World War II begins; Germany is backed by the villainous Red Skull and Vandal Savage, among others

1940: The United States begins research into creating an army of super-soldiers

1941: Steve Rogers is injected with the super-soldier serum and becomes the hero Captain America

1945: WWII ends with the fall of the Third Reich shortly after Captain America is lost in the frigid waters of the North Atlantic

In the years following the Great War, there are a number of heroes and villains to take up the mask and cape in the spirit of those who acted during the conflict. These heroes were typically normal people who sought to better their world through vigilantism. Few were notable in deed, but tales of their heroics served to inspire future generations.

1955: Earth’s governments make First Contact with extra-terrestrials in the form of an Appelaxian scout searching for a planet to be used as a “testing ground.” The arrival of the Shi’ar and their subsequent alliance with humanity diverts the efforts of the Appelaxian for the time being.

1962: Future mutant leader and activist Charles Xavier is born.

1965: The United States increases its activities in Vietnam, leading the to Vietnam war.

Throughout the course of the war, the few hero groups that had been assembled broke apart as some chose to join the war effort while others opposed the governments initiative. The division of the nation left the country in an era without heroes.

1971: Kal-El, the Kryptonian who will become Superman, crash lands in Kansas and is taken in by the Kents.

1975: The United States ends its involvement in Vietnam. The heroes who return home are met with disdain, and those who continue to operate do so in the shadows.

1979: Bruce Wayne, heir to Wayne Enterprises, witnesses the shooting death of his parents at age 8.

1981: SHIELD, the organization created after First Contact, notices an increase in the occurrence of mutant related incidents.

1983: Legislation is proposed to force mutants to register with the government. Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr come to the fore as strong advocates in opposition to the law. The legislation does not pass.

1989: Superman emerges as a hero in Metropolis, bringing in a new era of cape-wearing adventurers.

1991: The Gulf War begins with Iraq invading neighboring Kuwait, as well as a number of other countries, utilizing alien technology.

1993: The Iraqi conflict comes to its inevitable end. A number of heroes and vigilantes are forged in the conflict, including Frank Castle, the Punisher. Captain America is recovered from the waters where he was thought lost.

1994: Batman begins operations in Gotham City. Reed Richards, Sue Storm-Richards, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm encounter the Green Martian J’onn J’onzz on the maiden journey of Richard’s extra-dimensional spacecraft. The four are saved in the face of technical failure, and discover upon returning to earth that they have developed a number of superhuman powers, forming the Fantastic Four. J’onzz returns to earth with the four, and becomes the hero Martian Manhunter.

1995: The Appelaxian arrive in the wake of their scout, some forty years earlier. They are defeated by the combined efforts of Superman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Martian Manhunter, and Thor. The aforementioned six go on to form the Justice League. The League maintains a constant changing rotation, growing in size with time.

1996: Xavier’s Institute for the Gifted is established in Westchester County, New York. Shortly after, the X-Men are formed.

2001: The United States is attacked, and the Justice League are divided on whether or not to become involved in the conflict. Captain America leaves his leadership role among the Justice League and resurrects the WWII era Avengers, forming the group with the help of fellow heroes the Flash, Scarlet Witch, Hourman, and a number of others. The Avengers intended to be a group more focused on national issues, as opposed to the more all-encompassing and non-political philosophy of the remaining members of the Justice League. Batman retires from group activity, returning to solo vigilantism.

2008: The world is nearly destroyed by an axis of villains led by Loki and Darkseid, but is thwarted by a combined effort of the worlds heroes. The lines between the groups is once more blurred, as members reunite.

2012: Eclipso, the so-called "Wrath of God," emerges from his prison within the Black Diamond and seizes control of a number of Earth's greatest heroes. In the end he is put down by a coalition of young heroes modeled in the image of their forebears. These teens subsequently step from the shadow of their mentors and form their own team.

2016: In the past five years, as the world economy has diminished and crumbled and tensions around the globe have mounted, criminal activity has seen a sharp increase with the emergence of several new villains. Whether this is simply a response to the hard times many citizens have fallen on, or if this is a result of a larger conspiracy has yet to be made clear.

The primary setting of the chat is New York City, but roleplay will undoubtedly take place across the Eastern seaboard and beyond. A map of New England follows, showing the lay of the land and the spread of Metropolis, Gotham, and New York City.

Also included is a map of the whole of the United States as it exists in the expanded Marvel/DC Universe.
