One of the principal realms of the Continent, the city is a marked experiment between progress and the old ways. Magic is seen as another form of science and in between its Industrial Revolution, sparked by the war in particular, Fairy Godmothers and old superstitions still make their way among the people.

A large part of its current make-up today is owed to the influences from both Oz: Pioneer in the field of Industrial Science as well as from Stadt Des Drachen: A place in the Dark Kingdom where science runs amok. Nevertheless, the people themselves are generally happy, reasonably content and take pride in their progress, looking forward to the future while not forgetting the past.

Guilds generally are the fast-track to a respectable profession, and education in any chosen field is encouraged as not everyone can be a scientist or a mage. Some choose to join the Legion and end up as Army Officers or Navy. Some choose to join the Song of Fayth and end up as Clerics or Doctors. Whatever the Guild chosen, what usually follows is a four year program as an apprentice before being allowed to take on apprentices themselves. This leads to a cordial relationship with newcomers and allows them to pass on their knowledge for others to obtain.

The city itself is supplied via its trading as well as its center as a place of knowledge. Scholars in particular use the city as a medium between Oz's fanatic regime and Stadt Des Drachen's forbidding reputation. Naturally, this leads to a people skilled in bargaining and knowledgeable about most subjects in their chosen field and beyond. Beyond the city, farmlands and ancient ruins provide opportunities for field trips as well as provide sustenance.

The appearance of the Fairy Godmother in Somnium is a matter of mild interest mainly for Historians and those whose interest lies in the past. Her devotion to the former queen suggests that somewhere in Ella's line, a Fae Ancestor can be found though nothing as of yet supports this theory.

Its ruling class are actually mostly merit-based. Generals, Merchants, Scientists and Prominent Mages with very few Blue-Blooded nobility. This is a reflection of the city views once more. Prominent families include the Constanze, Delinarde, Von Dunkel, Tremain and Warren.

More to follow....
