If ever there were a place in which nightmares could call home, it would be the lands known informally among the outer realms as "The Dark Kingdom." Enclosed all about by mountains, the sequestered realm nevertheless has gained a black reputation both for its denizens as well as its ruler. Certainly, there are some good parts to it. For instance, the Dwarfs who call it home are honorable enough, and even now many kingdoms trade with the realms within it, despite misgivings for the Dark Kingdom stands as a forefront in regards to technology and certain eldritch arts. But it would be a brave merchant or adventurer indeed who would walk within its borders with impunity, as you never know who you might run into. Witches, trolls, undead and werewolves alike mix and mingle and that is simply the tip of the iceberg.

Bald Mountain: The only entrance to enter the Dark Kingdom is via the merchant path that leads under the shadow of Bald Mountain. And thus, as the barrier so to speak between it and the rest of the world, its prosperity is somewhat well known, and if you keep your head about yourself, profit is just as easy to make. If your intent is to quest, then caution is required here as spies from every single person of importance whose whims rule the kingdom station themselves here....

The Black Forest: With the exception of a few rural villages scattered here and there, the woods are largely untouched. Mostly because of two things....One being its reputation for being haunted, the second its current guardians. Dire Wolves, Winter Wolves, Worgs and werewolves all lead by the biggest, baddest one of them all. For these are the territories of the Big Bad Wolf of legend and under his rule, nothing marches through his woods without his consent. In response to his rule, rather then waste resources in fighting him and his ilk, the kingdoms chose another route and buy him off. Tributes in exchange for security, both in times of war as well as for the trade routes.

The Temple of the Wolf-Wind: Long ago, in the old days of the Dark Kingdom, the Black Forest was the chosen realm of a Black Dragon. A ruling tyrant who sought to carve out a piece of the pie that the Dark Kingdom represented. Under his control, entire villages were enslaved and erected a temple to him where human sacrifice, especially maidens were given over to his base hunger. At least, until out of the North the Big Bad Wolf came and engaged him in battle. The prize, the forest itself and after three days of primal battle and rage unleashed, the dragon fell and the Wolf reigned surpreme. Unfortunately, insofar as the people were concerned they had only exchanged one monster for another and as more monsters like the Wolf harkened to his call, it was clear something must be done. And so the temple of the dragon was converted to the worship of the wolf. Human sacrifice, to his hunger once a month in exchange for being left alone. A typical situation in the Dark Kingdom as a whole...

Lannister, Baratheon....In the Dark Kingdom, the families are well and whole. In a perpetual cycle of servitude and/or military expertise in service to Count Dracula's Iron Throne.

More to follow when I get more then the basics out, heh.
