 Crip Crypt "stupid eBay contest"

Last night, for anyone who wasn't in Crip Crypt, we came up with the idea of having a contest to see who could make the most money off of the stupidest eBay auction they can think of. Several people said they want to play, and this email is to see if anyone else wants in on this. I have come up with a few rules I thought might work for this. Nothing is written in stone so we can finalize the rules and the way it will work in the next few days, and that will also give people time to think of a good auction (try and be very creative).

1). Start the auctions on the same day and let them run for 7 days.
2). No dutch auctions, just 1 item only.
3). Probably shouldn't use the Buy It Now option, just stright auctions.
4). One entry auction per person for this contest.
5). We can't bid on anyones auctions, especially our own :o).
6). No shills, let's keep it real, because I'm keeping it real.
7). All auctions gotta be pretty stupid, goofy, or just wacky.

That's it, any feedback?

Does the item sold have to be from one person, or could it be from a couple? I don't have a specific idea yet, but the possibilities boggle the mind.

I'm not sure what you mean BoB. Are you asking if you can auction the same thing someone else is auctioning, or do you mean have several peoples stuff in one auction like a team?

I meant items from more than one person bundled as one item for auction. I'm not sure exactly what I had in mind, just exploring possibilities. (Actually, I do know, but rather than embarass someone I haven't talked to about this I'll dummy up for now).

Erica, in gambling casinos, since people don't like to gamble at an empty table, the House will have one or two employees (shills) gamble at the empty table to attract others. The shills are playing with the House's chips. The shills are often potential dealers learning the business. Usually attractive young women at the Blackjack tables and guys at the crap tables. It isn't cheating, just promoting business. When engaged in conversation, they will usually admit what they are doing.

BoB I don't know, I guess that would have to be agreed on by everyone who joins in the contest, I'm not the boss. If you have more then one person on your team why not pick one item? But then again I guess the total value of several pieces of junk isn't still isn't worth more then junk so I guess I woun't mind what you did. Anyone else have any opinion.

Erica a shill in an auction is someone (either the person who started the auction or one of their friends) bidding on an auction to get the price up even though they have no intention of buying the item.

I see no problem in BoB's request.

Revising an old post here.

Is anyone interested in doing this?

I think it'll be fun.

If we do it, what prize do we offer the winner?

Ed :)
