This morning, off the northern coast Of Aussie Land, in the Great Barrier Reef, Steve Irwin, 44, widely famous TV Presenter and zoo curator was fatally stung by a sting ray. He leaves behind a "hot" American wife and, at least, 2 children...and, of course, a huge number of adoring fans.

Another case of how fleeting and fragile our lives can be no matter how famous one may be. *shrug*

sadly,

Gary

Nobody saw that coming...

Steve was a really passionate man that loved life and adventure and he lived his life on the edge. Unfortunately, as many of us already knew firsthand, living dangerously on the edge invites injury & death. Roll the dice often enough and you'll roll snake eyes eventually. That edge can bite you pretty damn hard.

RIP Steve. I hope your family is OK

Can you believe that one?

True, true, he lived life fully and on the edge.

I liked the guy...he was entertaining (he cracked me up, with, "crikey") and educational. A real character. :)

Steve was seen on camera pulling the barb from his chest (heart) which does the most damage, just before he died. Do you think he knew that would be the final blow or maybe it was just an act of panic?

I believe panic. :-(

now I read in the news that Discovery Channel is setting up a fund: The Steve Irwin Crocodile Hunter Fund affectionately (sp) known as "The Crikey Fund".

More on this when I find who/what this fund will serve.

It's sad news. His zealous personality was incredible. I guess none of us will escape death (nice thought, huh? LOL) and dying doing something you love is probably better than dying from some painful disease.

I feel bad for his wife & kids.
