This is the private journal of Captian Ser-en-Sa of the Alliance army, third divison, 2nd regiment.

Day 6 of Fellsdane
Early yesterday our regiment linked up with the 5th regiment, we are heading for a outpost to the east that we have lost contact with. Personally I am worried...very worried.

Day 13 of Fellsdane
Disaster. Complete disaster. After a sevenday of marching we reached Althoin Hill. The Elven outpost seemed to be calm...btu was abandonded. No sign of battle marred it. Contrary to advice our orders were to set up camp. The night passed calmley and we formed up in the morning to move out. Then the mist rolled in. This was no natruel fog, no it moved with clear intent and purpose, coiling about our men and their faces. The horses stood, shivering with terror of the mist, and the unnaturell darkness that followed it. We could see, if dimly..then we saw them. The grotesque minions of the Old Ones, disgusting mutations, and perversions of the natruel order. How ever we knew we could defeat these creatures, for however great their numbers, we had wills of our own, and pride. We feared them not. But then came a horn...and it's clarion call sent shivers down our spines.
Then from the mist they came, in ebon ranks, deadly figures of jet and alabaster. They wore armor of shadow and carried lances and sheilds of some other-worldy metal. I saw they carried no swords, but I knew that their magic could summon them in an instant. It was at this moment, as their discilplined ranks marched towards us that we were defeated. Before the battle had even begun, we lost to our own fear of them, even with our greater numbers. We were annihilated. They fell upon us and shredded our ranks, our blood staining the ground, we fled, scattering across the feild and fen to escape, but their dogs and servants chased most down. Those who died were lucky. The wounded were either taken to be slaves, food or were devoured where they lay, guts torn from their still living bodies to be devoured by the dogs. We were permitted to live, so this tale we could tell...what then..I fear to know.

Day 30 Hammerfall. The private journal of Captain Ser-en-Sa

The priests tell us that human are the pinnacle of the gods creations. Elves, while graceful and long-lived, are soulless creatures. Dwarves are damned to the depths of the earth with the ancient creatures that forged them from stone. And so on and so on. They say the Malevioy are a test of humanities strength. I say they are a curse. The Grand Army has assembled, and prepares to march on the Malevioy in the next few days. The oracles warn against this action, saying that no mortal army can defeat these creatures, and I belive them. I saw those monsters fight! There is no way we can beat them...but the mages have a plan to banish them for all time. To Seal them away! I don't know if such a thing is possible.
