Russell Matstaff 3:12pm, November 22, 2005 [Edit] [Delete] | Just in response to the cap on registering non-mutants, I sort of came up with an organization of magic users called IMUA(International Magic Users Association). I figured if you want to reg a character but are having some issues finding an acceptable type of character, or just wanted to try something different, you could create one with the IMUA. Here's a little bit of background on the group:
IMUA-International Magic User's Association. This group has long since been a large presence among the governments of each continent for the past thousand years. A small group of magic users from all walks of life decided to combine efforts into a group that would use magic to aide countries and governments who were both fighting for the right cause, and were offering the right amount of money. How it works is that a contract is written up between the requesting government and IMUA stating what they're trying to accomplish. Some research is done before the contract is accepted, and if the contract is accepted, then the requesting government pays a bit of money up front, while the rest is given after the contract is fulfilled. There have been times where IMUA has interfered in certain matters without writing up some formal document, just because they felt as though their presence was necessary. Around the 1500's, the IMUA shrouded itself and disappeared into secrecy for a number of reasons. The biggest reason was mainly because people began to fear and hate magic users instead of respecting them. While there were few who cherished the awesome power of a magic user, most people were ignorant to things which they cannot explain or not understand, which led to magic users being killed by hanging, stoning, or some other archaic fashion. The other reason is because too many rogue magic users had begun to appear ever since the creation of IMUA, causing chaos and giving magic users a bad name. To protect their own, IMUA hid their members and rid themselves of the rogue magic users. There was actually a great slaughter hundreds of years ago that was carried out by the IMUA regarding this issue. They wanted to keep their numbers small, strong and well organized, so they began killing off those with magical abilities who either didn't want to conform, or posed too much of a risk. At the present day, IMUA is probably one of the only groups left who practice magical abilities, and who have also integrated with almost every major government in the world, helping out where it is required. More recently, the IMUA have been contracted by the United States Government to help tackle the issues lying ahead with the Mutant Registration Act. Because normal humans couldn't possibly combat most mutants with their extraordinary powers, certain officials within the government understands that IMUA would be able to at least alleviate some of the issues regarding the mutant population. Unfortunately, the government gave no restriction on killing hostile mutants, so it is left to the discretion of IMUA members whether or not a mutant is being "hostile". This essentially makes each member of IMUA the judge, jury and executioner. The only rule they were given is not to publicly kill hostile mutants in hopes to keep some of the bad publicity off of the government and the Mutant Registration Act. Sadly enough, most members of the IMUA have been corrupted by power and/or money, and although the group still operates as it once did, the contracts they're picking up aren't for the right cause; it has become strictly a numbers game and how much influence they have over the world. Fortunately, there are a few members who still believe in the older ways of the group, namely fighting for what is good for the world instead of how much money is in the IMUA's pocket.
There is also a Ranking list for the members of the IMUA. They are as follows:
Grand Master Magic User(GMMU): This rank is only given to one person, and is essentially what would be considered the president of the company, except with more control. What the GMMU says, goes, and there is no arguing about it. He or she controls every aspect of the IMUA, while setting and maintaining the rules for everyone below him or her. He or she is second to none, and has proved himself or herself as the strongest and wisest of the magic users within the IMUA group.
Master Magic User(MMU): This rank is only given out by the GMMU, and is a limited rank. By limited, it means that there is only a certain amount of Masters allowed in the IMUA, and once this limit is hit, one cannot become a master until a master either dies or is exiled from the group. Masters are powerful magic users who have honed their skills and have become wise in their years. A Master is only second to the GMMU, and has control over everyone below them.
Elite Certified Magic User(ECMU): This rank is granted by a Master, and is given to a CMU who has proved themselves time and time again through missions and such. Only advanced magical users can attain this rank. After becoming an ECMU, the missions become much harder, and even life threatening at times. ECMU's continue to focus their area of expertise and learn stronger and more potent spells.
Certified Magic User(CMU): This rank means that the IMUA acknowledges you as a Magic User, and that you have passed the CMU Exam. The exam consists of a few tasks, which are based on morality, leadership, knowledge, cunning, and magical strength. After passing this exam, the user would now able start focusing on their area of magical expertise(Offensive, Defensive, Support, Elemental, Summoning, etc.). CMU's also begin to learn more advanced spells and magical knowledge. This rank also allows the user to participate in contracts with other magical users to earn their keep, so-to-speak. The missions start out as relatively easy at this rank, with nothing life threatening. A CMU is also paid a portion of how much the mission was worth after completing it, so their salary is entirely dependent on how many missions they complete and how well they do. If a CMU were to excel in a mission, he or she would be paid more for diligent work.
Apprentice: An apprentice is the very lowest form of a magic user. IMUA doesn't even believe they can be called magic users until they become CMU's. For right now, these students learn the basics of magic which includes low-level knowledge and cantrip spells. After their teacher believes them to be competent enough, they move onto taking the exam for becoming a CMU.
Just respond to this thread so that I know you're going to be submitting a character with the IMUA. The only exception is that there won't be a PC for the GMMU because I think that person would be too strong, unless one of the Admins would want to play that person. Even a Master would be pretty strong, but its up to the Admins to approve the reg form, so shoot for it if you want.

| Ugh. |
Ill Nino 3:18am, November 23, 2005 [Edit] [Delete] | There is no cap on NON-MUTANTS. There is a cap on MUTANTS. IE: I'm not registering any for anyone. You wanna play a human, go for it. You wanna play a Avenger, go for it. But mutants are off limits. |
| Errr...yeah. |
Russell Matstaff 1:07pm, November 23, 2005 [Edit] [Delete] | Sorry about that, meant to say mutants in regards to the cap, not Non-Mutants. |

Lumpy 4:59pm, December 04, 2005 [Edit] [Delete] | I may try for a certified, and work my way up, if that's okay with everyone. |
| No. |
Aardvark 3:44am, December 07, 2005 [Edit] [Delete] | No. No, no. No magic. This is not Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings or something. This is Marvel. Magik is allowed for Scarlet Witch and Illyana and the like. Magic is allowed for no one. NO. NO. NO. |
