Warpstone or Wyrdstone as it is known as in Bretonnia and the Empire, is a deep black rock which seems to absorb the light around it in a green haze. It is highly prized by magic users thanks to its profound magical properties and by the Skaven, which use Warpstone as a hard currency.
But what is Warpstone? What gives it its unique properties and why is it such a prized item? Warpstone is the raw stuff of chaos, literally magic made solid. A small shard of Warpstone has enough raw energy in it to fuel a Wizards spells for a life time. Larger chunks can be used by the Skaven to create destructive war machines or by spell casters for ritualistic spell casting. Indeed the powers of Warpstone are vast and far reaching granting those brave enough to use it incredible power.. But at a dangerous risk.
Warpstone is a fickle thing, dangerous and potentially deadly if not properly taken care of. A piece of raw warpstone can explode violently into magical energy if it is struck or exposed to a flame. Constant exposure to or use of Warpstone can cause violent mutations to occur in the unwary. To this end it is frowned upon by the Colleges of Magic for its wizards to use Warpstone. Many ignore these warnings for their quest of greater power.
The Skaven, most well known for their use of warpstone, have learned to refine Warpstone for use in their bizarre devices. As such they are known to carry Warpstone fuel and other odd technological devices of Warpstone. This is not the Raw Warpstone therefore does not have the same benefits nor negatives of Warpstone, beyond being highly explosive. Please keep that in mind when playing Skaven that you can not use the warpstone of your equipment for spell casting.
In Chat Rules For Using Warpstone -
Channeling Warpstone: If your character chooses to use Warpstone to power a spell that character must first acquire a piece of warpstone. The character must be in physical contact with the warpstone when they cast the spell they intend to channel the magic of the warpstone with.
The Warpstone removes the difficulty of the spell being cast by 1 tier therefore a tier 4 spell becomes tier 3, a tier 3 spell becomes tier 2, etc, etc.
HOWEVER after using the Warpstone you must make a mandatory1d100 roll (chat command /dice 1d100). If you roll above a 40 please alert a Staff Member immediately as your character has just randomly received a mutation, irregardless of any magical protection you have. If no Staff Member is present roll a 1d1000 (chat command /dice 1d1000) and PM the result to Kael in the chat.
WARNING: Random mutations can KILL or fundimentally ALTER your character. You have been warned.
If you have any questions regarding this please feel free to ask a staff member, Thank you!
