Shameimaru Aya 6:09am, January 16, 2012 [Edit] [Delete] | Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Night Fury News! With such a big ship, not everyone can be aware of what goes on, and with so many interesting folks aboard, everyone wants to be aware. Now, all you have to do is access your on ship console or datapad, and you can have access to the latest going ons on this massive vessel twenty four seven!
Front page story: Inspiring words from our captain
When I first arrive on the ship, I wasn't quite sure what the purpose was, who was important, and so on. But after a quick conversation with the captain, he gave me these inspiring words, now the only ones under the Hitchhiker's Guide entry for the Night Fury:
"...Fight. We're a power unto ourselves, but we can't be everywhere. We can't save everyone. You may not know who we are, what we stand for or why its so important...But you can bet whatever you have that should we fall, it won't stop at us. Every being, every person, every world in one form or another is under attack. Subtly or otherwise... If you can put the message out, a call to arms for all who know....Then I would appreciate it. That's what we're doing now."

Cirno would like to organize a en masse game of freeze tag. Those dumb enough to agree should show up at the lounge 6:30pm Tuesday
Lifestyle
Oh my this is going to be a busy section isn't it? I've only been here a day and the rumors are already being tossed into my brain at the rate of lunatic level danmaku patterns!
Our beloved captain and officer Tennyson were seen heading to the quarters for an 'officers only' meeting with a represenative of another faction, one Miss Bell. Some fun quotes from the session included (all from Mr. Tennyson): "This is gooooooood...", "Oh crap, it's spilling all over everywhere!", and last but not least "Damn, it went in!" While at first the reporter was unsure, when asked at a later time whether or not he was also served by miss Bell at that time, he answered in the affirmative. It seems the rumors of the captain's magnetism are not entirely unfounded!
Food
With the addition of Mystia's to the Night Fury's culinary menu, the crew is up in arms about where to go to get their eats. The majority are so far still maintaining loyalty eating miss Kurasawa's admittedly delectable cooking, more and more each day defect to the atmospheric sound and steadier menu choices of Mystia's. Only time will tell if this is merely moving towards equilibrium, if Rin will respond, or if this trend will continue!

We are hiring! Or rather, I'm hiring, which is kind of the issue! anyone with a drive for making sure we all know whats really going on at all times, simply contact my datapad messanger, screenname WindGoddess
Thanks for reading!

The Night Fury's own Magical Girl, the focus of many of this issue's stories!
Front page
I’m sure I’m not the only one who noticed something a little strange this morning. Namely, all of the clocks seemed to think my five minute nap took three days. At first I thought it was a glitch in the computers, but then it got weird. Because, apparently, this happened to people everywhere, according to my fellow guide writers. Somewhere, somehow, the multiverse up and took a vacation. How much will this affect your lives? In theory, not at all, save that everything on the calendar is now two days too far ahead, and I feel really bad for anyone who’s birthday was the 21st or 22nd.
Sports
The last duel in the holodeck was a bit of a doozy, and anyone looking to kill ten minutes to watch something both entertaining and educational about how two of our more combat ready crew members dish out the pain should look no further than the holodeck logs. The match was between Cirno and Rin Kurasawa, and while the ‘strongest’ got more solid hits in, miss Kurasawa tried to make every hit count, and the match ended in a technical draw. Definitely a good watch, and should make all of you who like to leave messes in either the cafeteria or the restaurant of the fairy’s best friend very grateful they both have patience. Or at least Cirno’s friend does
Another duel worth looking up would be the bout between Ben Tennyson (you all remember him from last issue right?) and one Danny Phantom, one of the lesser known supers aboard. The fight was quick, brutal, and also a draw, and very entertaining to watch.

Lifestyle
Just this ((insert link to Galen singing ‘three’s a lady’ here)) The captain's just full of surprises isn't he? In other news, there's a small rumor going about that the wonderful miss Jennifer Walters, server at Mystia's and recently assistant morale officer, has found someone in their love life. While this reporter hasn't found anything concrete just yet, I assure you you'll be the first to know if I Do~!
Food
Recently I sat down with both of the restaurant owners on this ship, and asked for a short bit on why you all should choose their delicious foods over the others
Rin: while Mystia's food is good, there's not a lot of variety. I try to mix it up and pull from every culture I can learn about for my dishes."
Mystia: “Rin’s place may be fairly big and well equipped, but its still the cafeteria. My place comes with all the trappings of a restaurant, from a full time wait-staff to non-radio based entertainment”
Both viable reasons to choose the one or the other, yes? We’ll see how this little rivalry continues to evolve
Classifieds
Rin Kurasawa: Looking for another full time cook in the cafeteria. Experience not necessary, but not sucking at cooking is
Shameimaru Aya: Still looking for any other news gatherers among you who wish to try their pen at journalism
Jeremiah Croshwaw: Lost- Pet frog. Last seen near the freezer

Good news, in fact, fantastic news! The scout mission teams have found the planets they set out to find. One for the noncombatants to settle on and another to serve as a fallback point. Now the families can be safe, and our fighters have a place to call a home to fight for if they wish. In the transmission I asked for a statement from each group leader, which was as followed
Group 1:
"I will be honest. When I started this mission, I was skeptical. Not with the goal but in my personal ability to complete it. And the first few places we visited ended up being disappointing, with nearly no results. We had a few close calls along the way. So far, this world has turned out to be ideal. Which, in and of itself is a little disturbing, as our track record with the Night Fury has been all along. But so far, so good, and the location is also hard for others to find."
Group 2: "I'll tell you what, this has been one crazy ride. Evie's been great, helping me with all the tech stuff that I've been a little rough around the edges on. We had a few close calls, and came across some truly bizarre creatures along the way, but we ended up on this largely unpopulated planet. Not the place we'll initially be staying, but a good fallback sort of 'safe haven' if the planet that Gloria and her crew found ever gets compromised, with some pretty powerful protectors. Not that I ever had any doubt that- OW!" He gets smacked by Evie at this point. "OK so maybe there were one or two times where I felt things were really bad, but we muddled through well enough. So, yep, that's about it."
So, yay! It should only take us a few more days to reach the first group’s planet, so make your preparations!
Front page 2:
To touch upon a less happy event that happened recently, a few crew members were lost when the NOL forces aboard the Night Fury were deceived by their leader, as you are all likely aware of by now. A small point of victory can be that one of the casualties, Cirno, would of simply respawned back at her homeland and should be safe (if likely annoyed). The NOL aboard have pledged their support to us, and you should all do the same to them
Sports:
The newest Holodeck duels had a somewhat amusing twist: the competitors used the virtual bodies of their fellow shipmates. The first was a match between Ben Tennyson using the form of Aang and Rin using the form of Anco. Neither were exactly experts on the powers, but in that regard they also used them in new ways that surprised both their opponents and the originals. In the end, Ben’s more varied power set won out, but it was a close and brutal fight the whole way. As always, the logs will be both entertaining and educational. The second bout was between Aang using Rin’s body (Which is moderately hilarious in hindsight of the next article. Copping a feel taken to quite a new level) and Anco using Ben’s. The fight was quicker but just as close, and ended in a draw

Lifestyle:
Ooooh my. Quite the little doozy here. Rin Kurasawa, the NF’s walking love bomb, has had no issues after the surprisingly to some clean break off with the summoner Lucy Heartfilia, who also seems in good spirits of late (no pun intended). More importantly though, Rin has quickly rebounded. And scored two points. Yes, yes I do mean two boyfriends. One, the adorkable and powerful avatar Aang (quite the player for his age, apparently), the other, the mature, power armor wearing, and slightly badass (oh, and admittedly good looking) Michael Corbett. Aang and Rin had a particularly nice date on the beach that a technician, after a small bit of friendly persuasion, was able to pull a few photos of if you want to see the happy new couple enjoying themselves. When asked how far this triangular relationship was triangular, Aang replied “I’m completely fine with mike”. Friend to all living creatures indeed. No comment yet from Mike on his openness on the subject
Food
Mystia’s no longer opens for breakfast due to scheduling reasons (i.e. the night sparrow is not a morning person). The cafeteria is /still/ open for dinner, and as a reminder here’s a small recipe from head chef Rin
Oriental Quick Lasagna
8 packets (or equivalent, 24 oz dry) of Instant Ramen *Note if you are not using instant ramen, you will need to add seasoned salt or extra sauce
4 packets (or 1/2 pound) thinly sliced meat (tomato and carrot sliced thin can be subbed for vegans)
Hoisin Sauce, or Teriyaki
2 TBSP oil (sesame is preferred but peanut, vegetable or olive will do)
6 oz of instant mashed potatoes, or one large potato, boiled and mashed
1) Soak all 8 packets of ramen in warm (NOT BOILING) water for 5-10 minutes, until they begin to swell and fall apart.
2) Grease a 9"x 13" bake pan.
3) Place 4 packets of ramen across the bottom of the pan, and sprinkle either the seasoning packets the instant ramen came with or other seasoning if you used straight noodles, over the top.
4) Layer 2 packets (1/4 pound) of meat (or sliced veges) over the top of the noodles
5) spread out 2 more of the packets of noodles over the top of the meat, and sprinkle with seasoning packets or other seasoning as above.
6) Layer 2 packets (1/4 pound) of meat (or sliced veges) over the top of the noodles.
7) Spread out 2 more of the packets of noodles over the top of the meat, and sprinkle with seasoning packets or other seasoning as above.
8) Mix the hoisin or teriyaki sauce with the potato flakes or mashed potato thoroughly, and spread over the top of the noodles. Drizzle additional oil over the top.
9) Preheat oven to 375, and bake for 25-35 minutes or until the potato mixture on top has become crispy-looking
Note: If you use too much liquid it will not all soak up and the noodles will not bind well, leaving you with a giant bowl of ramen rather than a casserole. You can use an additional potato and start with a layer of potato on the bottom as well, but be careful as it may burn as the potato soaks up the oil faster than the noodles.
