Thread for Admin abuse?
| Index | New Thread | Open | Stick | Delete | | Admin abuse? |
Marc 7:21am, December 12, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | Is it legal for an admin to call a chatter names, unprovoked? Or are there some top level rules preventing that?
Also, is there a way to make the chats post the encrypted IP of the person who posts on a message board, so that when an "impersonating" post is made, it can be determined who made it?

| Hmm |
Jezral 10:08pm, December 12, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | I'd say that for an admin to call users names is not exactly good behavior, but there's nothing specifically in the rules about it.
In other words, I don't mind if admins and users can't get along.
Some heated words and squabbling is normal.
Only if it turns into real abuse is it my bizness.
The board thingy is not in this version of the chat. Only the IP of people who edit posts are saved.

| Admin Abuse? |
Marc 1:18am, December 15, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | So who has final say in a chat room then? If I'm the chat master, and I tell someone they can't do something because that's not the way this room is run, and they fire back saying, "Your not Tino, you don't own PJJ." am I allowed to ban them? Or can they just run to you and have you make a rule that says that's not allowed?
To many chatters are complaining about the admins expecting to go to you and have you rule in their favor, that's not your job though, is it?

| Universe Control |
Jezral 1:41am, December 15, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | For the record:
The Chat Master created the chat for a reason, which mostly is to make a universe s/he likes and has control of.
Therefore, the Chat Master has final say in what is allowed, or not, in a chat. Also with regards to banning for not playing within the universe constraints.
The matters where I might, and I stress might, intervene is if a Chat Master/Administrator is allowing pornography in an unlocked/not-hidden chat, or the likes.
Cases where the Administration is in on the bad stuff, so to say.
But no, I won't lift a finger for people that can't get along with the mind of the Chat Master.
You created the universe and setting, so it's your call.

Marc 7:13am, December 16, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | Er...don't worry about it. I tried to pull the same trick myself. *shrugs*
I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't work.

| Clarity |
Marc 9:00am, January 03, 2003 [Edit] [Delete] | AS QUOTE FROM THE PJJ LEGAL NOTICE:
Complaints:
Complaints against administrators of the individual chats should be directed to me. This includes if an administrator wrongfully banned you from the chat, or if they are allowing the above rules to be broken. The individual chat administrators sets the additional rules for a chat, but if they allow their own rules to be broken then that too is valid reason for a complaint.
Complaints against moderators should first go to the administrators of the chat, but if this does not solve the problem then the complaints are welcome in my inbox. This is to ensure that an administrator who backs up the moderator regardless can be bypassed.
Complaints against other chatters should first go to either a moderator or an administrator of the chat, but (as with moderators) if this does not solve the problem then I will deal with it.
---END QUOTE---
I'm sorry to ask it Jez, I know your busy, but could we get some clarity here? It seems to me that what you've said you will do and what you've placed into the legal contrat contradict each other.
*sighs* I just want to know for sure, since they seem to be opposite and people are quoting both which one I as an admin can follow.
Oh, and just a word of advice, or a thought, really. Could you possibly place a link to the legal notices on the main chat list page thingy (I know it has a name, it's late, forgot what it was)? That way I don't have to come to the message board or chat registration form every time I wanna see it...if it's already there, I apologize profusly.
I'd also like to state, for the record, that I'm really getting tired of people who decide to argue every possible loophole in every rule, and then scream about going to Tino regarding it. It makes it so that if we don't spend all our time updating and editing our rules, and making them ironclad perfect, we get screwed over.
Please Tino, make an announcement declaring what's acceptable enough for you to deal with and what isn't, I'm really getting sick of this.

Marc 12:11am, January 05, 2003 [Edit] [Delete] | I know yer busy...but eh, anytime you want to clear this up is great.
I'm having to go into a chat and write new rules every five minutes because of a certain unamed RPer and she keeps threatening to go to you.
So yeah, I need some clarity here. When you get unbusy, or back from wherever it is...yeah...this is kinda important.
Also...do the toplevel rules say anywhere that you have to look at everyones posts? Or are you allowed to ignore and not RP with certain people if you so choose?

Snowy 6:57am, January 05, 2003 [Edit] [Delete] | jeeze louise. who'd run a roleplay chat? LOL. maybe you all drink too much of the ole bloodywyney, or spend too long stroking ya sabres. |

Marc 9:41am, January 05, 2003 [Edit] [Delete] | I run a roleplaying chat, as the name implies, not a free for all, thank you very much.

| Rewrite |
Jezral 6:18pm, January 05, 2003 [Edit] [Delete] | All these minor issues have gone far enough, so I'll rewrite the Rules to what I actually intended with them.
But I can already say that the concept of universe control will be strengthened.

| Something to let Jezral think over |
Anonymous 11:53am, January 07, 2003 [Edit] [Delete] | Jez- you quoted: "Only if it turns into real abuse is it my bizness."
Exactly how much -Abuse- would that be...
For chat masters to sit back and annoy chatters?
It does go both ways.
If it is Marc,Luke, or any other chat master? When is enough- enough?
Before the chat master runs around and posts things on boards, polls, and in the chat.
|
| Simple |
Jezral 1:42pm, January 07, 2003 [Edit] [Delete] | - If a Chat Master doesn't want a person there, s/he can ban them.
- If a chatter doesn't like a Chat Master, don't go to the chat.
