Labs) Founder and Head: Dr. Akihito Mamoru, MD PhD Goals: GUARD Labs is the leading research group in the field of metahumans, their origins and abilities. They are the best equipped to deal with the medical treatment for metahumans. Research is being always being conducted to understand the science behind all aspects of metahuman abilities. Research Trials: There are many advertisements in the media calling for medical research study volunteers, preferably metahumans but not always. Research trials/studies range from single visits to long term in-patient and out-patient programs. All participants are well compensated by monetary payment or otherwise for their time and assistance. These also give metahumans a chance to learn more about their abilities and how to control them in a private setting. All patient information is kept STRICTLY anonymous from the public using patient ID numbers for everything after the initial application. GUARD Labs is supported by private, federal, and military funding (all three are domestic and international). Off-Site GUARD Facilities: These labs are scattered across the nation, with a few being in Tampa, FL. The facility and research being conducted can range from public, to private/restricted, or even military/classified. One-time visit and short-term research studies programs are often performed off-site. Main Facility: The area is set up like a fusion between a military base and a research/hospital medical center. There are several buildings on the premises including the following: Main entrance & Visitor's center, the hospital, several medical research buildings, on-site living facilities, and military barracks. The visitors center, hospital, and some medical research labs are lower security where the public are often allowed access if they are patients or visitors. Other research labs and buildings are more secure with military guards and security measures, and depending on the area can range from moderate to high levels of security measures. These areas are often fenced in with several guards on duty allowing only authorized GUARD transport vehicles though the gates. Research Trials of all kinds are performed at the main facility, the security levels depending on the research being performed.
