Humans: The majority of the world still consist of the everyday average human. With no augmented abilities to speak of, homo sapien is feared to be the dying race with the sudden appearance of metahumans. Like any other species, homo sapiens has an ingrained need to propagate and continue to exist. The rise of Meta births from two human parents represents a potentially serious threat to the continuation of homo sapiens as a species, at least in the long run.
Metahumans: First appearing after the end of the Mayan Calendar on December 21st, 2012. Metahumans are people with extraodinary abilities and powers. Often referred to as mutants, this new race of humankind seems to be growing expotentially with every year and is believed to be the evolutionary next step in humanity. However out of this knowledge has grown a deep-seated fear that the Metahumans will eventually overpower the human race and possibility even irradicate them.
Metas are feared among much of the general populace. With the rise of public support for the Registration Act, much of the country has become segregated. At the moment, however, the process is voluntary, and much of the data does help in various studies regarding the effects of Meta presence on many aspects of society. Those choosing to register and not hide their abilities becoming part of a community largely discriminated against. The powers of Metahumans are vast and differ from person to person.
POWERS
The extraordinary abilities that began appearing after December 12, 2012 are extremely varied. Feel free to throw your own ideas our way!
As always, if any power becomes too popular, it'll be capped. Also any power deemed too powerful will not be allowed. Be creative.
We'll be more than happy to throw random ideas at you or offer suggestions on applications you do send in to us. Keep in mind that this isn't a "superheroes" room, so while there will be factions working to do good, any programs designed to help metahumans control their abilities would still be in their infancy.
