Famine on Ruuria:
The Sith invasion was not entirely a thing of violence. Puppet governments had been established early on in the war on Belkadan, Sernpidal, and Ruuria to attempt to trap the Republic fleet in hostile territory. Unfortunately, some indigenous peoples got more than they bargained for when they decided to become hosts to the Sith. The Ruurians have always led a strange, but relatively simple agricultural existence on their world, many preferring to remain in the hive-like catacombs and caves just beneath the surface of the planet. Unfortunately, many of the youth’s experiments and usage of the dark side has triggered a premature third stage of development. Many worker larvae have gone into their cocoons early and emerged as Chroma-wing fliers, a stage of development where the Ruurian is only interested in eating, flying, and mating. As a result many colonies’ harvests have lost half or more of their production. Millions have been predicted to die in the famine, and tens of thousands of rogue Chroma-wing flier Ruurian “vagrants” have been forced out of the hive clusters. Republic-endorsed private companies and the Jedi have sent aid thus far to attempt to curb the worst of the famine, officially backed and in collaboration with the Sith, but a major debate about the Sith Empire’s ability to govern a multitude of cultures and societies has come into question. The Sith has openly welcomed aid, but some, especially the Jedi, have suspected it is secretly trying to stifle it, especially in colonies traditionally more Republic sympathetic and rebellious.

The Rakata: Around 30,000 years ago, the Rakatan Infinite Empire spanned a vast amount of the known galaxy. The Rakata left behind a number of ruins and artifacts, some containing technology far more advanced than current technology today; some postulate it was they who first gave the galaxy hyperspace travel. Some who have analyzed the star maps since Revan’s rediscovery of them have speculated that they do hint at other locations, possibly locales where other Star Forges are hidden, or possibly even more powerful Rakata technology.

The Sith’ari: On a remote world rumored to be near Dromund Kaas, it is believed that a being experimented on there broke lose. Some believe that this creature is the Sith’ari, the “supreme being.” Numerous agents of the Empire have attempted to track this creature down, and Republic Intelligence is not yet even aware of its existence. The Jedi have felt disturbances, strange psychic emanations more wild and powerful than most any Sith encountered heretofore, but they know no more. Tracking the creature and either destroying it or recapturing it are of paramount interest to the factions involved.

Alderaanian Civil War: War on Alderaan continues. The Republic-Sith coalition fleet has taken up orbit over the planet, pushing away the mysterious Ap'Taji almost as quickly as they came. A semblance of order has been restored, but plenty of fighting still abounds. The Republic has been arming House Organa, and the Sith have likewise been lending arms to House Thul. Order has been maintained for the most part in Aldera, as well as a few other strategic locations monitored by Republic or Sith forces directly, but many skirmishes and even a few all-out battles have erupted around Alderaan, with Thul having already succeeded in seizing several strategic locations from Organa, including numerous factory-cities that produce Alderaan's food, and several large plants used originally for making heavy load-bearing machinery, now being refitted by Thul to make war machines, such as hovertanks and walkers.
