Control Panel
This is where players can change passwords and customize the chat.

Main Control Panel: Most of the links in blue underneath where a player logs in will be of a lot of help to them. Preference help is valuable however. Flag Help allows players to see what certain tags in the userlist mean. Chat preferences can only be changed by administrators but a curious person is welcomed to look at them. Settings, Options, Icons, Language can be viewed by anyone logged into the chat but can only be changed by administrators. Complete userlist is a list of registered handles. Profiles are similar to character websites. Logs are the old logs. DBlogs are searchable logs for the room. Admin Log is for admins only to see listings of administrator functions. CPanel log will show when characters were added, changed, deleted, passwords changed, etc. Board is a link to the message board. Poll is a link to the active poll for the room.

Edit Character Chain: Character chain allows players to chain together characters if they have set all their passwords the same. That way, if a player wants to play more than one character in the room at the same time, they can use a drop down menu to switch between them easily.

Edit Preferences: This allows players to tailor the chat to how they would like it. Advanced allows all the features of the chat such as bold, underline, italics. Simple removes these features. No MotD removes the banners and links from the top of the chat room. Bold, underline, italic, and alternate changes the way that the player’s text appears in the chat room. Reverse output changes the text so that the newest posts appear on the bottom of the screen instead of the top. The contact options field is for players to fill out their information. They can make the information public with the options listed below such as “Public...”. The boxes with “No...” remove those features from the chat room. NONE of these features will work however unless player clicks the “Reload” box found in the chat window (instructions below). Explanations of everything can be found at Preference Help

Edit Profile: All players are encouraged to have a profile that other players can view. If a player knows HTML, they can just plug it into the space provided after picking this option.

Edit Profile as HTML area: For those that do not know HTML, this editor provides an easy drag and drop interface to make profiles.

Change Password: Easy enough. Put in your old password. Put in your new password twice. Now it is changed.

Log Out: If you are on a public use computer, make sure that you log out.

The Main Chat Room Log-In
This is where players can see all their customization and actually log in to play

Nickname: This is the name for your character AS YOU REGISTERED it. Type it exactly how it was sent to you in the email after registration.

Image URL: This is the URL for the image you want to appear in the avatar bar on the right. Images must be hosted on a separate website, not on your home computer. The default size is 125x165 if you need to crop your images to that size. You can host images on the Project JJ Image Server

Color: This refers to a hexcode. DO NOT TYPE IN A COLOR LIKE “BLUE” OR “RED”. Hexcodes are comprised of letters from A-F and numbers 0-9. Hexcode sites can be found under our Helpful and Fun Links thread.

Link: If you have a personal website, you can put it here. However, most people use it for a funny quote or saying for their character. When a player rolls over a name in the room, it appears in the bottom of the browser for everyone to read.

Password: The password you have emailed to you for a character or the password you changed for your nickname. Passwords are linked to nicknames. If you have three passwords for three characters, you have to use the right password with the right handle to log in.

Icon: These are the locations for the setting. Players determine there their characters will be. Explanations for all the icons can be found under the setting link in the board or on the website. Icons are in a drop down menu not only before a player logs in but also after a player logs in. It is very important that characters have a setting icon so players know where they are.

Font: Some of us can’t read the small font that is the default for the room. This drop down menu allows players to pick a larger and different style font for their preference.

Adv and Sim: Again, like in the control panel. This sets the advanced and the simple functions for the room to change the style and what appears. Please read above for a refresher.

Reload: Will reload the previous settings for a character. All player needs to enter is Nickname and Password. All the rest of the information will be filled in. Also, any chat settings made in the Control Panel that are not default will occur with reload.

Cookie: It is very important to check this as it saves information for reload.

Auto: This will automatically log someone into the chat the next time they visit the page as whatever nickname they entered when they clicked auto.

Once You Are Logged In
Now we are getting down to the nitty gritty!

Blank box: This is where you enter the text that will appear within the chat room. Actions are done surrounded by asterisks, for instance, *She walked into Bliss, pushing the door open and slipping inside. Once inside, she made her way towards the counter* Dialogue is done simply by posting what they say. *She picked up a menu and scanned it over* I will just have a coke, please. *she put the menu back into the holder* Out of character speak is denoted with parenthesis such as ((Did you guys catch that episode of that show. Hilarious. *LMAO*)) Once you are done typing, you can either click post or just hit enter.

Drop down menu (Public): We have a whisper function in the chat, a private messaging system that no other players can see. If you want to send a private message to another player, select their nickname from the drop down menu, type into the text box, and hit enter. Please use this function sparingly. Thank you.

A, S, C: These boxes once more stand for Advanced, Simple, Color. All explained above.

Profiles: A link to the profiles of other players.

Messages: If you receive a private message, you can click on this to view it.If you have a message, a little red number will show how many you have (new/total)

Music: This should said Misc. At least, that is what it says when you hover. This is a link to the main Project JJ portal.

Exit: Will log you out.

Hexcode: This appears under the text box. It is whatever color you entered when you logged in. You can change it at any time, enter a new one.

Icon drop down box: Like when you log in, this drop down box allows you to change icons. If your character moves during game play, changes positions, this comes in handy.

B, I, U, T, O, R: These change the way your text appears to other chatters. Please refer to control panel instructions above.

Post: Posts whatever you have typed into the text box.

Undo: Undoes your previous post

Refresh: Refreshes the chat room

Userlist: Shows a complete list of registered characters.

Manual: Shows the main page that loads in the chat window when you first log in

Members: Link to the control panel in the room

Your star is: This tells you who you logged in as

Chain: This drop down menu is so you can switch between characters if you have used the character chain function explained above.

Box with refresh: This is to set the refresh rate for the chat.

ADDITIONAL COMMANDS
