Hey all, well I managed to put together a rough...VERY ROUGH...canon cheat sheet to compare Port Charles to Buffy/Angel. If I have forgotten anything or put something incorrectly, please tell me. I am a fan of both shows but I am in no way an expert. Thanks.

Port Charles:

- Vampires can walk in the sun provided with a special kind of water manufactured by Caleb Morley
- Vampires are ruled by one vampire Prince, Caleb Morley, and all were sired from him and his chylder
- Cannot have children as vampires
- However, some vampires knowledge of a magical healing spring that heals humans, kills slayers, and turns vampires mortal. In order for a vampire to become mortal again, they must have fed on the blood of living, breathing human
- Garlic, crosses, holy water, holy objects do not affect vampires
- Stake through the heart (silver or wood) kills vampires. They do not ash, they disappear. Silver bullets can also kill them if it hits their heart. Chopping their heads off, also effective.
- Older vampires can disappear and appear at will
- Vampires do not turn into bats
- In order to create new vampires, a sire must drain a potential almost to the point of death. Then the sire offers their own blood to the potential to drink from. If they do, they are reborn as vampires. If not, they die.
- Older vampires can change their appearance to appear as anyone
- When they find their soulmate, a vampire’s heart begins to beat in time with them, thus alerting them to the one they are to be with for all eternity
- Caleb Morley possesses a ring that not only grants wishes, but also keeps the wearer safe from all other vampires. The ring’s wishes come at a price however, with horrible consequences, no matter what the wish. The only one who can control the ring’s power is Caleb Morley.
- The ring can only be given to another person. It cannot be taken by force. However, the wearer could possibly be manipulated into giving it willingly
- Vampires retaining a soul depends on the vampire’s personality before embrace, how the embrace was done, and other factors
- Vampires have trouble having sex with mortals without killing them. It doesn’t sate them. Vampires can have sex with slayers and as a side effect, it temporarily curbs their cravings. Most vampires stick to vampires for the most passionate love making
- Vampires cannot drink slayer blood, nor werewolf blood. It makes them sick.
- Vampires cannot attack members of their own family to feed on them
- Some vampires can work a special mojo through their music to entrance mortals.
- If a vampire eats or drinks food, they become very sick a few hours later and have to throw up whatever they ingested
- Vampires can only get drunk by feeding from someone who is drunk.
- Vampires prefer to sleep in a bed, like normal humans
- Older vampires and slayers can use telekenetic energy to throw people and objects
- Slayers can be male or female.
- Slayers cannot stand the music of The Stephen Clay Experience, The Experience with Stephen Clay, The Experience with Caleb Morley, or generally any songs that Caleb/Stephen sings
- Slayers can sense vampires. However, the manufactured water masks a vampire to them, as well as vampiric symptoms i.e. the need to feed.
- Slayers are slightly stronger than the average human
- Slayers, if they fall into the spring, need angel blood to recover
- Slayer clans usually run along bloodlines, genetics dictate who is a slayer
- Angels do exist. They can manifest on Earth sometimes as well.
- Angels can also disappear and reappear at will.
- Angels can pause time, in small spots, for brief moments
- Angels can be called back to Heaven at any time
- The boss of the angels is a man called Ed. He is also father to a slayer named Rafe

Buffy/Angel

- Vampires cannot walk in the sun. They start to burn and then combust if they do
- Vampires must feed on blood to survive, either human or animal
- Vampires are essentially dead. No breathing, no heartbeat, no reproduction
- Vampires can be killed by a stake to the chest or by removal of the head
- Vampires are affected by holy objects such as crosses and holy water. It usually burns them
- Some vampires sleep in crypts or coffins, some do sleep in normal bedrooms
- A vampire’s face changes to the demon within whenever they are about to feed or fight or just generally get pissed off
- Vampires can feed from the slayer. Apparently, it ain’t half bad
- Vampires can’t fly but they can leap tall buildings with a single bound
- Vampires are relatively single minded killing machines
- Vampires do not have soul unless they are cursed with one. So far, only two have this: Angel and Spike
- Vampires can get drunk by drinking alcohol
- Vampires are made when one vampire drains a human to the point of death. Usually, they have the common courtesy to bury them though
- Currency in the dark underbelly of the demon world is...kittens.
- All slayers are female
- Slayers have the same strength or stronger than vampires
- Slayers have faster healer than normal humans
- It used to be that into ever generation was born a Chosen One. However, in the season finale of Buffy, all the potential slayers were activated
- Demons do exist. However, in this room, we will not be approving any as of yet.
- Witches exist. But they usually need some kind of spell book or magic book in order to be able to cast unless they have memorized the spell
- Coming back from a mortal death usually results in a zombie. Coming back from a mystical death has its consequences as well and has to be done by a witch.

Again, this is by no means the full list of the different ins and outs of the two shows. If I forgot something, please reply here and put it, I will add it to the list and delete your post for less clutter. Or contact me on email or IM and I will add it. Thanks.

I found a really great Buffyverse FAQ here and have copied/pasted it for all to see.

What strengths and weaknesses do vampires have?

Answer:

Strengths

Vampires do not need food (as in meat, potatoes and vegetables) in order to live, although many vampires have been shown eating...probably just to fit in with the humans. Also, they can taste food as Spike has mentioned on various occasions, most notably in Triangle, when he raves about the onion petal at the Bronze.

Vampires do not need to breathe air in order to stay alive. However, like food, vampires do breathe and can do things that require breathing, like talking or smoking. If a vampire is deprived of air for enough time, they will pass out from 'suffucation', but there has never been an incidence of a vampire dying from lack of air. Also, when a vampire breathes in air, *something* happens to it that makes it unusable for CPR, which is why Angel could not save Buffy in Prophecy Girl.

Vampires can get drunk, and presumably by the same principle, be poisoned via drink. Granted, the poisoned thing isn't really a strength, but I *have* to put the ability to get drunk under strengths.

Vampires can see well in the dark, according to Angel in Choices.

Vampires have a heightened sense of smell.

Vampires can sense other vampires and demons as being non-human (perhaps through the heightened sense of smell).

Demons that can read thoughts, can not read the thoughts of vampires - as shown in Earshot.

Vampires can taste poisons, drugs and disease in the blood of their victims.

Weaknesses

Vampires must be invited into private residences. They cannot enter the house without an invitation.

Vampires cannot reproduce sexually, like humans can. (Prophecies can provide exceptions).

Garlic seems to have at least a warding off effect on vampires. We've rarely seen it used in the series, but since Buffy had some stockpiled in Welcome to the Hellmouth - it probably has some negative effect on vampires.

Holy wafers also have a negative effect on vampires, more than likely. Like garlic, it hasn't been used on the series, but it has been shown in the chest of weapons. Chances are that it is not a very strong effect.

Consecrated ground can burn vampires, as seen in When She Was Bad, when the vampires are digging up the Master's bones.

Crosses ward off vampires and if they touch the skin of a vampire, the skin will smolder and burn, as shown in Angel and The Harsh Light of Day.

Holy water will cause a vampires skin to smolder and temporarily scar, and if it is ingested, it will cause the vampire to die, as evidenced by Helpless.

Although vampires may evenutally die if they do not get blood, according to Spike in Pangs they'll just look like

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Living skeletons, mate. Like famine pictures from those dusty countries, only not half as funny.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was also mentioned in a flashback during Becoming, Part 1 that vampires are stronger when they drink human blood rather than rat blood.

Any wood through the heart will kill a vampire, regardless of the size of the piece of wood (a pencil will work). However, if a non wooden substance is put through the heart, the vampire will not die (as shown in Into the Woods).

Vampires cannot expose their skin to direct sunlight. If they do, their skin will start to smolder and smoke and within seconds (unless the vampire is a regular on one of the series) the vampire will die.

Fire will have the same effect on a vampire that direct sunlight does.

Beheading will kill a vampire.

Vampires can eventually die from weakness, as Drusilla was going to during the first half of season 2.

There is a ritual that can be done that drains the life from one vampire and transfers it to his/her sire. Drusilla and Spike attempted to do this ritual on Angel in What's My Line, Part 2.

There is a poison called "Killer of the Dead," which was shown in Graduation Day, Part 1 to poison and kill a vampire.

Not really a strength or a weakness, but still of note

Vampires have no reflection, so they cannot be seen in mirrors.

Vampires can appear in pictures and videos.

Vampires have a body temperature the same as whatever the room temperature is, as seen in The Initiative.

Lore from other vampire mythology that does not apply in Buffyverse

Vampires can fly. In Buffyverse they cannot. The only exception being Dracula, perhaps, but it is unclear whether his flying was authentic or an illusion.

Vampires can die from silver bullets. This is not the case on Buffyverse.

Vampires will become weak if they drink from a dead animal/human. In Buffyverse, there seems to be no effect on the vampire based on whether or not the victim is dead already.

All people that are bitten by vampires become vampires themselves. In Buffyverse the victim must be drained *and* drink the blood of a vampire to become a vampire.

Vampires can read the thoughts of other vampires. This has not been shown to happen in Buffyverse on a regular basis. However, Angel has said that he has a "connection" with some of the vampires he made (the episode Somnambulist mentions this).
