St. Solanus is "off the beaten path, but close to everything." Our city has a desirable beach-style living that delights every native and newcomer. Our residents enjoy strolling among sandpipers along the 50-acre Ocean Cliff Beach Park, and businesses benefit from the City being home to the largest commercial deep-water harbor between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Businesses also see growth and prosperity from year round tourism. St. Solanus is home to many charitable fundraisers and events as well as a few celebrities seeking solace from the hectic Los Angeles lifestyle.

St. Solanus (pronounced "Sol-an-us") is a seaside community in Ventura County, California. St. Solanus is located 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles and 40 miles south of Santa Barbara. The City has a population of 10,500. Citizens can enjoy a range of activities such as a day at the beach to camping in one of the many cabins tucked away in the nearby Las Padres National Forest to a quiet romantic dinner in one of the city’s many restaurants. And don’t forget to spend some time in one of our many charming shops or boutiques.

The City of St. Solanus has seen much dramatic progress since it was founded by Geoffery Solanus during the California Gold Rush (1858). Residents consistently cite the high quality of life offered due to planned developmental communities such as Forest Oaks, Infinity Acres, and Leeman Estates, excellent public facilities such world reknown heart and cancer treatment units at the St. Solanus Hospital, and responsive City services as being primary reasons for choosing to live in the City. The private university founded by Elizabeth Bevel in 1903 continues to attract the best and the brightest from around the globe. A commitment to maintain high standards for a clean and attractive appearance of the City continues to be a major priority. The importance of preserving and enhancing existing amenities to ensure the long-term health and vitality of the community is recognized as well.

So, come enjoy a drink at Bliss Bar and Grill! You will find that St. Solanus has an ideal combination of bustling commerce, warm community spirit, and beautiful surroundings. As you will soon discover, St. Solanus is not just a Coastal Paradise…it is truly the Pearl of Ventura County's Gold Coast.

Okay, so I made a map. Its not to scale. Not in the least. But its just to give people a general layout idea for the town. But I hope this helps gives people a feel for the position of things in relation to other things. And these aren't city blocks naturally. They are small town blocks. If you want something added or think you can do better, please tell me. We always need suggestions.

Map

Please note that Blue Ridge Aslyum and The Seasons Casino and Resort Hotel are on the outskirts of town and therefore, do not appear on the map

LOCATIONS:

Angel Investigations: Office space of the Scoobies and Fang Gang, formerly the law offices of Charmaine Brooks, this is a three story house converted to office space. Private conference rooms upstairs, reception area, waiting area, and kitchen downstairs, plus basement with kitchen living space.

Apartment (any): Any apartment in town, doesn't matter what complex. Just a general icon for characters who can't afford big house living!

Beach: Any of the several beaches that St. Solanus has along the coast.

Beach House: Originally used for the Solanus beach house, this icon can be used for any residence on the beach.

Bliss (bar): The main bar in town. It is part bar, part lounge, part club, part cafe. It is the center of most of the activity in St. Solanus. (Think Recovery Room or Exilir or Capricorn or any other soap bar/lounge place. Think Applebee’s, Fridays, Chili’s)

Blue Ridge Aslyum: Outside of town, this is the local mental hospital and rehab center.

Cabin: Much like the beach house icon, this was originally for the Solanus cabin but now it can be used for any cabin outside of town in the mountains and forest.

Car: If your character is traveling some place while in a car. Can also be used for taxi, limo, any vehicle.

Club Duat: Egyptian inspired dance club owned by Gwen Thomas.

Docks: These are the docks that are down by the bay. Shipping comes through here. Operated by the mob. There are houses down here but its mostly warehouses.

Forest Oaks: Think of a really rich gated community. No house is under one million dollars. You have to make six figures to even be considered. No small houses, only mansions.

Ghetto: This includes Leeman Estates, a really run down planned community. Kind of like the projects. Mostly apartments and roach motels. Not exactly the high point of St. Solanus.

Graveyard: Just like it says. The local place for burying them bodies that seem to pile up.

Gym: Better Bodies Gym, the only place to work out in St. Solanus.

High School: Pretty easy there. Its the local high school. The St. Solanus Stingers. Black and Gold are the school colors.

Hospital: St. Solanus hospital. Contains the E.R., ICU, Children's Wing, Surgery, OutPatient Services, etc. Run of the mill teaching hospital built in 1978 by Viktor and Camille Solanus to replace the old Bevel University Medical Center.

Hotel: St. Solanus Hotel: One of the nicer hotels in town. It is affordable for tourists while still being a nice place to stay. There is pretty much this and the No-Tell Motel in the ghetto.

Infinity Acres: Middle class part of town. Mostly small to medium sized houses. More upscale apartment complexes. Good place to raise a family.

Las Vegas: Pretty much self-explanatory...Las Vegas. Bright lights, big city. Home to casinos, gambling, legalized prostitution and a whole lot of fun

Los Angeles: City of Angels...Los Angeles. About an hour’s drive away from St. Solanus.
Mall (El Con): El Con Mall. The only place in town to hang out and get some clothes. Get your food court on! Just a basic small mall with corner stores like JC Pennys, Sears, Dillards, etc. Want more selection? Going to have to drive to Los Angeles. :)

Office (any): Any office space within St. Solanus though its usually going to be in the business building of Solanus Towers.

Other: If a location is not listed or its a one time use location, use this icon.

Out of Town: A city outside of St. Solanus.

Outside (any): For anyplace outside one of these locations that isn't covered by another location within St. Solanus.

Park: Leo Castillo Memorial Park. Lots of bushes for people to hide in, benches for people to sit on, a gazebo for people to meet at, a lake to feed the duckies at.

Phone: On the Phone: Cellphone, payphone, home phone. Whatever works.

Police Station: St. Solanus Police Department (SSPD). Pretty small because crime really isn't that much of a problem........or so we like to keep telling ourselves.

Raven's Crest: Home of Stephen Clay, his wife Livvie Locke, and his band The Experience. Rumored to be haunted.

Royal Gardens: Royal Gardens Gentleman’s Club owned by Jonathan Montgomery and Blaine Gavilian. Burlesque and dancefloor on the first floor. Topless and full nude upstairs. Urban striptease classes in the morning.

Seasons Casino: The Seasons Hotel and Casino Resort owned by Zachery Slater. This is a little out of town.

Slayer Academy: Summers Slayer Academy is the business of Buffy Summers, where she trains new Slayers.

Solanus Estate: The Solanus Estate is comprised of the estate house and the tutor house. The estate house was once owned by Vincent Solanus and the tutor house is occupied by Eric Solanus. Also includes the acreage of the estate.

Starbucks Coffee: Delicious and expensive, stop by for a frap, cap, or just some conversation.

Studio: Can either be the Raven’s Crest recording studio for The Experience, Daneel’s photography studio, or out of character goofing around ala a tv studio.

Target: The big red bullseye. Similiar to a K-Mart, Ames, any other sort of all in one store.

University (Bevel): Bevel University: Named for one of the more charitable members of the Solanus family, Elizabeth Bevel, this is a small private university which boasts an incredible pre-med undergraduate program and medical school. Most other majors (undergraduate and graduate) offered.

Vega Ranch: Second oldest estate in St. Solanus next only to the Solanus estate. It was owned by cattle ranchers and wine makers The Vega Family. It is filled with secret passageways leading through the house and then down into town. The Vegas were a very secretive family so little is known about them.

Wolfram and Hart: All around evil law firm with offices now set up in St. Solanus. They represent the best evil that money can buy.

OTHER:

Dream: If your character is asleep and something is being played out that they are dreaming about.

Flasback: Replaying someone that happened in the past or something your character is thinking about in the past. Just any sort of flashback.

SPECIAL:

Next Generation: Sixteen/Thirty (2026/2036) years in the future, this icon is used to play out storylines with the children of present day St. Solanus citizens
Since there is some confusion, I will clarify this point. This is not just an icon, it's a whole room plot. Storylines take place when the kids/adults are fifteen years old and thirty years older than present day. This has been going on since we introduced the plot nearly two years ago. If you do not understand this or it is not clear, please AIM either Mike or Kelly and they will explain. :)

Repost: Used for reposting any roleplaying done over AIM or email or another chat when the room servers are down.

 What Bliss looks like

So I know a few people are not familiar with soaps and therefore don't know about the whole general cafe/bar place that every soap seems to have where people hang out. So I got some old screencaps from Port Charles to give you an idea. I am also going to try to find some screencaps from General Hospital of Kelly's and some screencaps from One Life of Rodi's. Bliss is a very similiar place to both of these. I hope this clears up any confusion. And since Bliss is a restaurant/bar there is no smoking inside.
