It has been two years since the resurgence of the Eggman Empire – or more importantly, the disappearance of Princess Sally during her quest to find the missing pieces of the Sword of Acorns. Sonic, now an aged hero and adventurer, tirelessly searches for Sally without any clear clues to where she is located throughout time and space. Without Sonic and Sally to provide clear leadership for the Freedom Fighters, new heroes have risen in their place. Their disappearance has also inspired new political and social changes throughout Mobius, including that of the resurgence of the Eggman Empire and other unseen threats. As Mobius knows, the world turns into a new age with new problems and people to solve or worsen them.
