The arena constructed in conjunction with the quidditch pitch and altered to specifications incited excitement, despite everything else. Resembling the Coliseum in terms of scale, the guests were varied and it almost felt like the World Cup on a smaller scale. Flags displaying the primary marks of Hogwarts, the Clocktower and the White Council flapped in the breeze, followed by matching banners for Queens Academy, Camp Halfblood and the Slayers.

A warm breeze blew, with a hint of sulfur and oil mingled and down below on the marked course, wizards and sons and daughters of the Forge God and at least one, actual mechanic examined the tools of the first challenge.

Chariots.

All lined up, all seemingly identical and with a faceless, mystical autopilot of sorts in the form of a dummy. Up in the announcers booth, a pair of familiar figures would be seated as they organized themselves.

The big, bushy-stache'd wizard chortled as he looked over the arena, mentally rubbing his hands with glee. The other, a green haired changeling with shades still yet, sipped from a different mug as what smelled like distilled caffeine filled the air. A British wizard looked at the black brew, gave a shudder of loathing and continued to adjust the loudspeaker.

"Ho-ho! Hello there everyone and welcome, to the Triwizard Tournament! Though just that in name alone, it still looks to be a wonderful turnout today! I see just about every kind of guest in the stands from the high to the low and the excitement is more thick than my collegues coffee!"

The changeling merely grinned, adjusting his shades as he spoke rapidly.

"Indeed it is, which is accomplished by a marvelous mix of beans I found that grown in Nevernever soil tends to-er, but perhaps another time. After all, we're currently broadcasting to just about every country now, aren't we? From Tokyo to Budapest, the magical world community has expressed intense interest in this event, as for an unprecedented upheaval, we find ourselves with not one, but TWO non-magi among the seven champions! Intentional or no, it's certainly garnered a lot of eyes upon Hogwarts as of now."

It certainly felt like Hogwarts was open house right now. Famous Wizarding families and officials, demigods graduated and living among the mundane, motes of shimmering light that could only be Fae, incredibly handsome and beautiful people too good to be real-all these and more, came to watch. Of course, there were restrictions.

First, the grounds, the pitch and the Great Hall were the only open areas. Officially to prevent further classroom disruption, with pamphlets provided for those wishing to know more. Second, the security of the various factions aided well in keeping the crowd confined. The main lawns were rife with Hogsmeade shopkeepers taking advantage and setting up tent-shops and stalls, turning the event into a carnival. An especially auspicious event concerning candy that turned the eater into a canary went over well, the perpetrators racking up a profit alongside their bookie status.

Every champion would be called into a special tent, adjucent to the place all of them would come out of for this task...
