Things have calmed down since the passing of the Outsiders, falling back into a semblance of normalcy, at least as normal as the Hidden World allows. Neighborhoods are rebuilt, wounds heal, and life returns to normal in New York City. Such things are not meant to last.
Uncharacteristically large swarms of insects - gnats, flies, and all manner of small, stinging pests - have been spotted with increasing regularity throughout the city, particularly at night. Entomologists have confirmed that not all species are readily known; in fact at least thirty newly discovered species have been confirmed so far within the swarms. Mundanes are convinced the insects' appearance is a byproduct of global warming, tropical species pushed further north in migration with the change in climate; the Hidden World suspects something else may be at work.
When reports of human victims with acute amnesia and anemia began filtering down through mundane hospitals it all but confirmed a darker force at work.
There are other worlds than these, but you may not like what you find beyond the Sargasso Sea.

Stunt: Deafening Resonance - Once per session I can pay a Fate Point to produce an extremely loud buzzing sound, causing everyone within hearing range (both enemies and allies) to suffer a Minor Consequence (Temporary Deafness). Targets that are hard of hearing or are already deaf are immune to this effect, and targets with sensitive senses suffer a Moderate Consequence (Temporary Deafness) instead.
