White Council Declares War. Statue of Secrecy Violated.

The moving picture of two figures talking to Oprah dominate the front page as the following story is revealed.

Magical societies are an open aspect of our world, with many differing ways of life and magecraft. But after today, quite frankly perhaps we may wish to question this as we find our neighbors making a mockery of our way of life and strip our defenses bare. Appearing on the Muggle news known as Oprah, Melody Singer- The purported Muse and Harry Dresden, the White Council Warden came out in public and flatly admitted to the presence of magic.

Lucius Malfoy, Philanthropist of Ministry Britain had this to say. "We are a people of traditions and history. To so blatantly trample over them like this is demeaning to those of our world."

Certainly, both figures have a reputation for blatantly violating the veil of secrecy our forefathers have painfully kept up for our protection. Even among the vaunted White Council, Mr. Dresden has a reputation as a maverick and was deemed a high enough threat for a twenty-four seven potential Executioner to follow him everywhere.

Melody Singer on the other hand, was easier to track. Her fame in the Muggle world is due to that as a musician and dancer- An ironic coincidence, considering her claims to the Mantle of a Greek Muse. If that is the case. one wonders if her skill is truly due to what talent she has, or if perhaps she draws upon something extra. And in Berlin, in perhaps the most disturbing bit of news, Melody Singer has garnered a nascent cult and from the muggle news, is not above forcefully proving what power she has. Whether she will use it in the manner the Greek pantheon is well known for, is a question many are asking now.

But perhaps the most dire thing of import to be taken from all this, is Dresden's public broadcast in which he threatens the Minister of Magic AND our neighbors in the Clocktower. Is this a sign of a new, power-hungry regime? Is Dresden in cahoots with Singer? What will be the response of our Ministry to this new threat?

For an in-depth look at Dresden's connections to dark magic, see page 84.

For a closer look at Melody Singer's contacts in her rise to power, see page 56.

Chaos at the World Cup! Twenty-six dead!

The dominating headline showcased a black and white picture of the writhing symbol in the sky.

Apparently even the biggest gathering of our people was deemed too delicious a target by radicals, who managed to pierce the layers of security at the World Cup. But the most disturbing thing about it all is the gross incompetence by those purporting to be our allies, who indeed was responsible for the majority.

Instead, to the disappointed outcries of the families of the dead, the B.P.R.D. Foundation failed the Wizarding world, and by extension the rest of us with their lax approach. A price now paid by the blood of the fallen. But it seems this was only the tip of the iceberg, as this reporter soon discovered!

Among the figures on the scene was the Churches own Father Lucifer Anghelscu; A bloody name denoting their most rabid lapdog. Entering the fog that had obscured any witnesses, he emerged bloody and alone out of the men that accompanied him. Whether rumors of whether or not it didn't belong to his allies, has yet to be put to rest.

Compounding the tragedy, our own Bartemius Crouch senior, head of the Aurors since the retirement of Riddle discovered his own son at the scene. His wand, the definite one that casted the smug, new mark in the sky like a calling card. But even that was not held sacred.

Completely dismissing the dead and fallen, a prankster rendered it pink and was attempted to be excused by an ignorant bimbo. Certainly not a wizard of any kind, or even educated in our ways. Between the price paid by their lack of vigilance, the violent on our shores and the complete disregard of life by allies, this reporter wonders if we wouldn't be better off in isolation, after due payment is rendered.

Auror Office in Disarray! Ministry Crackdown Assured

After the appalling dismal display of ineptitude from abroad and home, the Ministry has finally rolled its sleeves and cracked down hard on our problems, starting with the surprisingly slip-shod Aurors office, upon which we pin most of our protection and hopes. On the night of the Qudditch World Cup, those hopes were dashed brutally with the terrorist attack by unknown assailants. These assailants have since identified themselves as the Death Eaters, sending a letter to the Daily Prophet office this morning declaring their intent and credit for the deed. The letter, seen in its entirety here.

To the Wizarding Nations as a whole, greetings from those who have conquered Death.

We are the Death Eaters. We are your neighbors, your friends and your family. We are the shadows who will cling to them no longer, unable to stomach the sight of a world where our birthright is denied by all. You say we need allies, that the protection of our enemies who have always meant us harm will save us. They could not save anyone, not from our actions nor can they find us now.

Though you have taken our sleeper agent in your custody, we are confident in his freedom soon. You cannot stop us. You can find us. We have defeated the final enemy to be vanquished.

And none of you are it.

Though they didn’t mention the agent in question, its an open secret that Bartemius Crouch jr. was arrested by his own father and his whereabouts, currently unknown. In response, his father just a few days after a closed session trial stood down from his position as the Auror Office head. With the suave, political acumen that our Minister has been known for, Cornelius Fudge soon sworn in his new replacement. Former retired Auror, Tom Marvolo Riddle as the new head. When asked for a comment, Riddle had this to say.

“Injustice, no matter where has always been personally appalling. Our duty is to right that, however we can and with your help, we can.” Following these words of hope, this reporter heard another ask the fate of Crouch jr. Riddle fielded this question well in turn, saying merely that for security reasons, the Aurors will retain him until sure he has not been magically compromised and asks for everyone’s goodwill, as the thought of a wizard from such a good family going dark is a tragedy for all.

The following picture shows an underground tomb. The seal is broken, bits and pieces revealing Goblin clean-up crews as a headline dominates the front page of the Daily Prophet.

Ministry of Czech baffled!

In yet another droll display of incompetence, Prague once more becomes a hotbed of intrigue following the break-in at the Tomb of Eden. A renowned Burial ground for noted magi, the tomb in question belonged to no less than one of their national heroes, one Solomon ibn Gabirol. At the time, their minister was in the company of Veela twins and had to be roused by his Aurors long after the deed had been allegedly done. One wonders if had they focused less on champagne prices and more on security, if they could have avoided this altogether.

Were there any treasure buried with the remains of this man? What secrets could be hidden from us? Prague has a history of them, in recent times since the Dementor rebellion and the subsequent appearance of Voldemort, all in the same city. However, in keeping with their usual methods of sweeping problems under the rug, their spokesperson had this to say.

'We're not telling you vultures a damned thing, so keep out before I hex you.'

A picture of Hogwarts dominates the front page, under the following headline.

Hogwarts Infiltrated! Triwizard Tournament Degraded.

To no one’s surprise, Albus ‘bumbling’ Dumbledore has yet again, mismanaged an event that should have gone smoothly. For those who remember the prior events of the past few years, from the Outsider attack to the Basilisk petrification sprees, this is no true surprise. Considering himself a law unto himself, Dumbledore has not toed the line so much as flaunted before it, doing whatever he wishes at the cost of the rest of the Wizarding World.

Though the Triwizard Tournament had traditionally been the purview of our own establishment and the Mage’s Association alongside the White Council, Dumbledore without power or authority has opted to play diplomatic powerhouse outside of Ministry Control. One wonders just how far the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot intends to abuse his authority, wrapped up as Hogwarts Headmaster and under the guise of his Supreme Mugwump responsibilities.

Among the parties he’s taken under the mantle of Hogwarts, are the Slayer Nation. A collective of girls bred to kill vampires, with their champion coasting on training provided by an outside instructor in a shaky loophole, the failed and deluded B.P.R.D. foundation who had already failed us when needed most, and Camp Half-Blood who has as much to do with the Triwizard Tournament as a Muggle, despite the shady entry of their chosen champion, who seems a fainting shut-in incapable of anything more.

Add in this years appointment of Defense to an Executioner of infamous reputation and Dumbledore takes on a darker shade. Is this Dumbledore’s attempt at an army? Is the so-called ‘leader of light’ attempting undercover deals with the Church and new elements to form his own, independent faction? If so, then perhaps drastic measures need be taken before it grows worse.

Murder at Hogwarts!

The shocking headline looms over the front page picture, that of Auror Tom Riddle at a press conference. Below, the article reads out.

Once again, Dumbledore's senility is put on display as others pay the price for his ineptitude. In what should have been a magical night for many of our sons and daughters of Hogwarts instead turned to ashes as 'Fumbledore' once more failed his charges.

With the Yule Ball opened to the general public, a number of homunculi infiltrated the dance floor, each one with a runic trigger to explode. While we are aware such creations are the purview of the Clocktower, no official statement has been provided despite their presence at Hogwarts now. Meanwhile, upstairs in full view of witnesses, Executor Anghelscu of the Burial Agency killed a man and then left swiftly after. Is this further evidence of Dumbledore's questionable choices?
