These rules refer to chat and roleplaying (hereafter abbreviated as “RPing”) conduct. In this chat IC (“In Character”) and OOC (“Out of Character”) are distinct—please have some internally consistent means of distinguishing between the two with IC handles. An RP refers to a discrete instance of RPing, an exchange among two or more characters, made of several units called “posts” (the individual textual exchanges between characters). No single RP lasts longer than 24 hours, and posts between RPing characters that occur more than 4 hours apart are considered separate RPs. Admins refers to administrators, and mods to moderators.
- This is a Star Wars chat. Goblins, fairies, and elves are not permitted. There is a wide variance in the canon of Star Wars as to what is allowable, but certain things are blatantly impossible in this universe (such as time travel, pyromancy, etc.). Please consult the admins/mods if you are new to the setting.
- This is freeform. Posts should be given within a reasonable amount of time of each other (typically under five minutes, but players may use their own discretion). There are no task resolution systems, or “common sense” ways of determining how an RP outcome should be determined. Please try to come to an agreement with the player you are RPing with, or consult an admin or mod to settle a dispute about what’s real, possible, or consistent in the world of Star Wars.
- Self-registration is a privilege. Please use the self-registration system wisely. Do not attempt to register a canon character (such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, etc., especially since this setting takes place long before they would be alive). This action is logged and may result in the registering person’s self-registration privileges to be revoked. If you want approval for a canon character, please consult the admins.
- Since registration is done by individual chatters, profiles are especially important. The basic information that a profile should convey is as follows: name, physical description, personality traits, faction allegiance (or lack thereof), profession, how good they are generally in their profession, Force sensitivity (yes/no), Force powers (if any). Force information may be omitted from the profile and shared with admins or other users privately, if preferred.
- The outcome of an RP must be decided before the outcome-determining post takes place if the outcome significantly impacts one or both characters. Hence, consent to kill, capture, or be killed or captured must be given in open chat OOC before the outcome-determining post. Once given, this consent cannot be reneged for this particular RP. This however, does not settle the question of who has determined the superior outcome (won the fight, sliced the database, or disabled the planetary shield); if agreement cannot be reached on this point, please consult an admin or mod. Additionally, admins or mods must be contacted if the outcome significantly impacts the story, setting, or characters that might not be in that particular RP.
- RPs may be paused for convenience and changed to a later time, but the pause duration cannot be more than 1 week if one or more players do not consent. Thus, if you pause your character, be prepared to leave them in limbo for a week, but after that you may play normally. Admins and mods may override this, and set longer or shorter durations.
