The land around the volcano has been a barren wasteland for over eight centuries. The people that live there live a harsh life of sufferance and drudgery. The land is barely farmable and what does grow is meek, bland and lifeless. Throughout the province there are marsh lands, forrests and roaming planes of dirt. The marshes are cloaked in choaking fog, the forrests overgrown with hostile flora and fauna, and one can wonder for days without sight of water through the planes. Recently the inhabitants of Melabrauth have been whispering, something within the volcano stirs. Though it has been dormant for centuries they fear that it now awakens. Many are going so far as to leave the province and their homeland of generations. (This is the setting for a large scale RP. There will be more updates and posts as things happen IRP.)   Story Teller 12:36am, April 16, 2011 [Edit] [Delete] "Quit yer shoutin' boy, you'll upset the herd!" Grumbled the old shepard as he flicked one of the sheep with a length of willow branch. "But messer, The mountain, there be smoke comin out the top!" The old man slowly raised his head and shielded his eyes against the sun as he looked toward the top of the mountain that cast sorrow over this entire province. Sure enough, there was smoke begining to billow out the top of the mountain, something which hadn't happened in the memory of the entire settlers of Melabrauth. Elsewhere in the province the Rangers of the Black Morass were on the move. The ground had been rumbling and the arch druid had fallen into a wakeless sleep, both were signs of a troubled land about to break. "Tred lightly Brothers, the rapters are on the hunt today." The leader of the scouting party whispered as he nimbly climbed over a fallen tree. He was worried, the smoke he had seen eminating from the top of the mountain in the far distance was more than a little troubling. Even in their oldest tomes there were no records of the mountain doing such a thing in the past. They had reached the edge of the forrest and as they lurked in the shadows they stared in wonder at the black cloud spewing forth from the peak.   Story Teller 12:12am, April 17, 2011 [Edit] [Delete] In the darkness it stirs. The roof above its head ready to crack and burst. For too long had it been asleep and now the ones that forced its awakening had returned. The time was near. The lead ranger stalked out of the forrest edge his bow in hand. His kind were rarely seen to leave the Black Morass but the plume of smoke from the mountain top had dictated otherwise. As his fellow scouts also emerged they burst into a full run, their direction, the base of the mountain. It would take several hours to get there from here but they were bred for speed in the forrest so out here on the planes they were simply running free.   Story Teller 12:45am, April 17, 2011 [Edit] [Delete] And the ground about the province of Melabruath heaved as the mountain top exploded in a giant fireball. It could be seen from every direction, and from out of that firball came the blackness, the beast from within erupted forth and went spiralling through the sky, its wings unfurling. It shot forth and headed for the forrest which the team of scout rangers had emerged from. As it came close the Ranger looked overhead shading his eyes from the sight and the heat given forth from the creature as it crashed deep in the centre of the forrest. "I think it landed near The Grove." Whispered one of the scouts. "They can handle it, we have bigger problems." Replied the lead as he pointed towards the now spewing volcano, molten lava rolling down towards the settlements at the base.  Our adventurers enter Melabruath Ryushi Urioste 11:35am, April 18, 2011 [Edit] [Delete] While there wasn't many people in the neighboring provinces to Melabruath who would pay heed to the volcanic eruption other than as an item of news or curiosity, the event had been noted by a few. Some had witnessed the explosion on the horizon first hand whilst others had heard of it through word of mouth. One such group had soon gathered near the edges of Oak Village and discussions had moved in the direction of investigating the reasons for the eruption as well as offering aid to the peoples of the land where ever it might be needed. Setting out on horse back, six would head into the province that bordered Oak Village.....Ryushi Urioste, Emily Darkwolf, Tanek Xavier, Abigor, Raeon and Ekatrina....all making their way via horseback as the province had no rail system to link it with Oak Village. Having traveled for some time with night falling they would have eventually come to a village at the edge of these lands and decided to stay at a local inn. Each has their own reason for going and each would likely make their own journeys and adventures deeper into the province as a result of this mountain exploding....as for anyone else who may have tagged along with the group...who knows, there may have been a straggler who had kept themselves out of sight as they kept up with the small horse pack (referring to Blackfox in case she wants to keep with the group) and others may have chosen to come to the village with it being so close to the border of Oak Village and Melabruath.  Scouting ahead Ryushi Urioste 10:25pm, April 18, 2011 [Edit] [Delete] Leaving the others at the in. Ryushi Urioste will have gone deeper into the province to find out the current extent of the damage to the area as well as the potential dangers to the inhabitants. As well as surveying where potential aid might be needed, he would have carefully questioning evacuee's as to their intended destinations and put out feelers in terms of any potential leads he could follow to discover more about the events that occurred at the time of the volcanoes eruption. He intended to travel as much of the land as possible in a single day with the others in the village near the border of the province before returning to them to give his assessment and gather supplies as well as direct aid where it was needed. He also intended to convey any information to members of the party that wished to investigate the reasons for the eruption and take them with him as he endeavored to get to the bottom of this unnatural natural disaster. His next actions, of course, would all depend on the information he gathered. (Which I leave to the Story Teller to let me know so that I can use it when I have him return to the group)  Onwards! Ryushi Urioste 3:02am, April 26, 2011 [Edit] [Delete] With the information gathered, Ryushi returned to the village to inform them of the necessities the group would be needing to undertake in the region. Jaguar Cats had soon joined them due to a delivery he'd been entrusted to make before being given a new task by his teachers to gather ash from around the volcano. Having heard a tale of a winged beast crashing into the forest of Black Morras, Ryushi requested that Abigor investigate this story while he and Emily lended aid to the refugees near the mountain. The party would have split now. With Ryushi, Raeon, Emily and Jaguar heading to a village near the mountain where many refugees had gathered. Their aim being to lend healing where possible as well as allow further investigation of the erupting mountain itself and allow Jaguar to gather the ash he needed. Abigor, having found Ekatrina, decided to try and locate Black Morras, a task made much harder by the fact he was finding few people willing to co-operate with information of its where-abouts. To add to matters, members of the DBI arrived in the village which the group had initially stayed at. Setting up shop in the village square with the reason of investigating the volcano themselves....was this their true objective? Why would they investigate such a thing?? Unfortunately, GEEK's recent work and life commitments has meant that he won't be able to continue this plot as he'd hoped. Having a tendency to wander, as felines often do, shi's spent several weary months wandering around the Village that made for their temporary home near the volcano's base, shi has re-united with Ekaterina, whom was left to fend for herself by Abigor. After getting the girl fed and washed, and promising a broken nose for Abigor's abandonment of the child, They await the return of other members of their party. Tanek has inadvertently exposed hir secondary arms, and given hir name to the barkeep at the inn that makes for their temporary abode.   Conrad 11:07pm, August 01, 2012 [Edit] [Delete] Ok...as the RPer of Grenth (also the person who was running this) isn't going to be coming back, I'm going to take this over in order to get the plot finished so that we can get back to using the chat for open RP etc. Grenth is now to be called Vanali. This is the only Retcon for this RP. I've filled Tanek in on the rough plot for the RP so that he can help keep it going while I'm not able to bring Vanali in. It's all about investigated the Volcano, still, and trying to help the people of the land. Feel free to RP out your own little adventures while trying to help the people escape the ash and lava flows, etc. I'll be bringing Vanali into the chat as soon as the Registra has confirmed him and I'm physically able to get in for RP.
