Thread for Large Scale RPs Index | New Thread | Reply | Close | Stick | Delete  Large Scale RPs Conrad 9:41pm, March 21, 2011 [Edit] [Delete] Large scale roleplays can be an exciting series of events or they can be disruptive chaos which destroys the continuity of an area. A large scale roleplay is defined by how much interaction it will have with the environment of the chat and how much it would be noticed by all users of the chat. A minimal example of a large scale roleplay would be a city wide event that would be covered by “world wide” news. It has been known for an entire city to be in the process of being destroyed while at the same time and in the same city, two characters are shopping as if nothing out of this ordinary has happened. It's very easy for such a roleplay to spiral out of control and then fade into obscurity. It requires some planning and advance notice so that people can work it into their smaller/personal roleplays without it destroying a story that they might have been building for some time. If you wish to run a large roleplay, make a 'pitch' in this thread. Describe it without giving away too much detail, imagine you are describing a movie or book to someone to make them want to see/read it but not ruin the story. It must include what area is to be affected as well as some idea of the scale and potential effects. See the example below. If there are multiple 'pitches' then the Administrators will make a selection to be voted on by the community. Some changes may be suggested to make the roleplay 'fit' but every effort would be made to conserve as much of the original idea as possible. It may be that a series of large scale roleplays link an epic story line together and if you want to create an enduring story line you may want to run a series of large roleplays or even try and work with another person who has made a pitch to link the two ideas. Once the votes have been cast there will be a queue of roleplays created so that people are guaranteed to get the opportunity to run their roleplay. Once the chat members have voted on their preferred roleplay a separate thread will be created for it on the board. This thread must be updated with all relevant information relating to the roleplay so everyone can follow the story, though not every single interaction has to be updated. Anything of significance not posted on the boards could be ignored as if it had never happened, it is the responsibility of the participants and runner of the roleplay to maintain this thread. However, for the sake of clarity it may by summarised by an Administrator. A single large scale roleplay should not last more than three months but it could also be a one off event such as an apocalyptic explosion. If it looks like it will take less time or is not overwhelming then a second roleplay may be run simultaneously at Administrator's discretion. No more than two roleplays may ever be running at one time. Likewise, if it appears that a roleplay is proving very popular and requests are made for it to continue longer, it may be extended by a month at time after a chat vote. To prevent the problems listed above only an Administrator can approve a large scale roleplay. Example: For some time an insidious force has been building within the Fuedal sector, slowly gathering resources from both the Magical and Technological areas. Rumours abound of citizens going missing at night never to be seen again, strange unholy creatures lurking in the darkness ready to snatch the innocents away. Most of the stories are wild exaggerations but there are always two constant factors: 1. The victims are invariably young females. 2. They all disappear in the slum areas of the various towns and cities in the Fuedal area only. The evil is growing stronger by the day and the fear on the streets is almost palpable. A reward has been placed for the safe recovery of each missing citizen. And the gold on offer is greater with every new disappearance.
