HLV Ed 7:55pm, April 22, 2010 [Edit] [Delete] | Location name: Konoha
Physical location: In the thickest, deepest part of the forest on the northern side of the main continent, between the political boarders of Yolanda and Aquas City, away from any roads.
Description:
*Taken from the Naruto Wikia page.* "Konohagakure (Konohagakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden Among Tree Leaves"; also known as "Village Hidden in the Leaves" or "Hidden Leaf Village"), or Konoha for short, is one of the five great ninja villages. As such, it is one of five villages with a Kage as its leader, known as the Hokage. On a mountain overlooking the villages from the north exists the Hokage Monument. "
A giant wall surrounds the village, towering over most of the village's buildings and encompassing most of the village. There is only one large main gate which allows access in and out of the village. It should also be prudent to point out that even though Konoha's full name translation is "Village Hidden Among Tree Leaves", it's size is roughly that of an average city, including population.
The buildings themselves are constructed out of wood, concrete, and steel. The "style" of buildings could be described as colonial Japanese, though they appear to be fully up to date in regards to plumming and electric wiring.
Keeping with the name of the village, various collections of trees, parks, minature forests, and wooded training grounds dot the interior of the village itself. Many of these trees have grown to the point where they tower above the village walls.
Military and Security:
Konoha is primarily a ninja "village". It's main purpose is to train it's ninja. That said, not everyone who lives within Konoha is a ninja or part of it's military. About 35-40 percent of Konoha's total population is in fact a part of Konoha's ninja and military personal. This includes Medical Nin, teaching staff, Intelligence Squads (including but not limited to interrogation nin and the cryptology squad), ANBU, and various other types of Special Jonin who's skills might not necessarily be battle specific. As such, security within and around the village tends to be tight and around the clock.
Due to the events of the past year, the genjutsu which had once surrounded Konoha has been taken down. In it's place the village has erected a barrier jutsu that extends from the walls surrounding the ninja city and encases it in an energy dome. The barrier is intended to prevent anyone from being able to attack the city from the sky, as well as reinforcing the walls which surround Konoha. In addition to the barrier jutsu, a secondary jutsu has been put in place along with the barrier. The purpose of this added layer of defense is not to keep anyone out, but rather allow the defenders to know how many individuals are exiting and entering the village at all times and from where. The only location where the barrier is not in place is the main gate, though the sensor jutsu is in place there as well. The patrols and guards along the main gates have been increased. Finally, teams of "sensor type ninjas" keep watch over the village itself as well as the surrounding areas.
*Note on Konoha's security and military: when taking into consideration Konoha's military numbers, one must take into consideration that it would be impossible to RP EVERY SINGLE MEMBER of the village. This includes it's military personal. Thus we must remember that while an individual who plays a "Konoha character" might not be around, this does not mean that the village is unprotected. There are literally thousands of NPCs within the village who are ready for battle at a moment's notice. They could be training, eating, spending time with their family, on guard duity, whatever. Those NPCs are still there, and as such must be taken into consideration.*
Ninja ranks:
Hokage ( Literally means "Fire Shadow". They are the leader of Konoha and are generally the strongest individual within the village, although their ideology and renown plays a large part in their being chosen for the position. The current Hokage is Lady Tsunade.)
Jōnin Commander (Represents the regular forces in councils and likely helps in commanding them. Position is currently occupied by Shikaku Nara.)
Jonin (Highly-experienced shinobi with great individual skills who serve as military captains.)
Special Jonin (Ninja who have Jonin-level ability in a single area or skill, much like warrant officers. They are elite specialists within their area of expertise and are often assigned as subordinates to regular Jonin when their services are needed.)
Chunin (Ninja who are qualified to watch over and guide other ninja. They have reached a level of maturity that primarily consists of leadership skills and tactical prowess. In order to become a Chunin, one must pass a series of tests. Comparable to a Sargeant.)
Genin (Lowest level of ninja.)
Academy Students (Often children. Not all Konoha's children become a part of it's ninja academy, and not all who make it in graduate to become Genin. They learn and train to become ninja and in mastering the very basics of ninja lifestyle. In times of great emergency, they can be conscripted to temporarily become a part of the military force.)
The ANBU (( (Dark Side), short for Ansatsu Senjutsu Tokushu Butai (Special Assassination and Tactical Squad; English Version: ANBU Black Ops), take orders directly from the Kage, performing special high-level missions, such as assassinations and torture. The ANBU usually work in teams formed to the requirements of the mission, ensuring maximum success. The shinobi in the ANBU are hand-picked by the Kage; chosen for their individual capabilities and special skills. Age, gender, background, or previous rank bear no weight in this decision. They wear their mask even in their own village, for their identity as an ANBU agent is to be known only by the Kage and village elders.
There are apparently no true ranks within the ANBU, unlike within the regular forces. Team leadership and hierarchy seem to be based on merit and experience. The leaders of the teams are called squad leaders (Buntaichō), a position held in high regards.
Konohagakure also has the ANBU Torture and Interrogation Force, who interrogate prisoners and work to gather intelligence. ))
Medical Teams (( The Medical Teams (Iryō-han) are the back-up of the shinobi forces. They consist of medical-nin, working behind the scenes to heal the sick and injured shinobi and to make sure the organization is always in peak condition. Medical-nins are also similar to HM or Hospital Corpsman of the military in real life. They also do extensive research into new techniques, medicine, and into diseases and the human body. Although not seen very often, they are highly respected. Even to a jōnin, the advanced skills of these shinobi appear like magic.
Not all medical-nin are members of the Medical Teams, though. There are also medical-nin within the regular forces, who go along on standard missions to increase the success-rate. However, back in the village, it is the Medical Teams who run the hospital and treat the wounded. ))
Clans: *Note, the following is a list of the most prominent clans within Konoha. This is NOT a list of all the clans. If you want to create a character who comes from a small, obscure family within the village, you are free to do so*
Aburame clan
Akimichi clan
Hyuga clan
Inuzaka clan
Kurama clan
Nara clan
Sarutobi clan
Uchiha clan (Only three members of this clan are alive. Itachi and Sasuke have returned to Konoha and are part of it's population once more. Madara, however, is not.)
Yamanaka clan
Places of interest:
Forty-fourth Training Ground (Also known as the Forest of Death. Its primary function served as a testing ground for the survival and fighting skills of Genin trying to become a Chūnin. It was a very dangerous place, filled with hordes of flora and fauna; often gigantic, poisonous — or even more likely, both — hence its name.)
Hokage Monument (The Hokage Monument, or Hokage Mountain, is the most representative trait of Konohagakure. It is a mountain that has had the faces of all the Hokage carved into the stone. It is located at the northern end of the village and over looks the entire village. The mountain towers over the entire village, visable from just about any point within the village.)
Hokage's Residence (A large mansion occupied by the Hokage during their reign, and is located close to both the Ninja Academy and Hokage Monument. It is filled with many forbidden scrolls, in which lies the secrets to many jutsu.)
Ichiraku Ramen Bar (Literally translates to "First Comfort's Ramen". Popular ramen bar within Konoha. Serves the best ramen within the village, as well as tsukemen.)
Kikyo Castle (A japanese-style castle located somewhere in Konoha. It features two large shibi, shaped like shachihoko.)
Konoha Correctional Facility (A place where shinobi who have committed serious crimes work off their debt to society. The prison houses those that are murderers and criminal ninjas who have broken the law.)
Konoha Hospital (Serves the medical needs of ninja and other villagers in Konohagakure. Though the staff is skilled enough to treat most basic ailments, Tsunade and other more advanced medical-nin must step in to assist with severe injuries. Security for the hospital is apparently lax.)
Konoha Hot Springs (The public bath of Konohagakure, divided down the middle between the sexes. Ninja can use the baths as a training ground for basic chakra training. Using the the hot water as a form of motivation, the trainee is more focused in using their chakra to support themselves on the water.)
Konoha Library (Located within the Hokage Monument. Information on its ninja, past and current, is stored there, as well as other points of interest such as Akatsuki.)
The Memorial Stone (A monument in Konoha that lists all of their ninja that were killed in action.)
Nakano River (A river within Konoha)
Naka Shrine (A shrine in Konoha. In the main hall, beneath the seventh tatami mat from the far right, is a secret meeting place of the Uchiha clan. In there is a tablet containing the clan's secrets. The tablet can only be read with specific dōjutsu, with the Sharingan, Mangekyō Sharingan, and Rinnegan being able to read more than the other, respectively. Here the secrets of the Mangekyō Sharingan are written, as is the story of the Sage of the Six Paths and the Ten-Tailed Beast.)
The Ninja Academy (Konoha's training center for Academy Students before they become Genin. In order to be admitted to the academy, prospective students must meet the following requirements. 1. Love the village and hope to help preserve peace and prosperity. 2. Have a mind that will not yield, able to endure hard training and work. 3. Be healthy in mind and body. If the above conditions are met, admission to the Academy will be granted. For more information, see the following link. http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Ninja_Academy )
Third Training Ground (A training ground where Konoha shinobi honed their skills.)
Trivia:
* The second fanbook gives Konohagakure a population size of five out of five stars, a military strength of three out of five stars, and an economic strength of two out of five stars. It has the greatest population of all the five main shinobi villages.
* The hiragana (an) is painted on the entrance gates of the village (one hiragana on each door). This means hermitage or retreat. In Kanji, the character is 庵.
* Masashi Kishimoto stated, "Yes, there is [a model for Konoha]; it's my hometown."
* Konohagakure has three Akatsuki representatives, the most of any village: Madara Uchiha, Orochimaru, and Itachi Uchiha. Also, Kabuto Yakushi later allied himself with the organization as well. Also, in the card game, Zetsu is said to be from Konoha. *edited to reflect in room status of Sasuke Uchiha.*
* In the first Naruto book, The Tests of the Ninja, page 87, you will see a sketch of downtown Konoha. If you look closely, you may also see a billboard with a cartoon version of Masashi Kishimoto with a paintbrush.
*Edit*
As of December 2nd, Hatake Kakashi is no longer the hokage (leader) of Konoha. Lady Tsunade has returned to active duty as Hokage.

| Sunagakure |
HLV Ed 4:17am, January 02, 2011 [Edit] [Delete] | Location Name: Suna
Location: Southern end of the main continent, within the desert area. Exact location is amongst the mountains and canyons between the Nerealis Ruins and the Sikurajah North Village.
Description: (*The following description consists largely of injections made from the little information provided within the Naruto Wikia Page and the few times the village has appeared within the anime.*)" Sunagakure (Sunagakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in the Sand") was the hidden village of the Land of Wind. As one of the five great ninja villages, Sunagakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Kazekage. There have been five Kazekage, the most recent being Gaara. The ninja from this village seem to specialize in Wind Release techniques and the Puppet Technique.
Shinobi from Sunagakure believe that the accomplishment of a mission predominates the lives of the ninja trying to accomplish it.
The village itself seems to be located within a box canyon within the desert region of the main continent, much as it seems to have been within the Naruto world. Most of the buildings appear to be constructed of sandstone, with frequent sandstones sweeping through the streets.
History:(*The following history comes directly from the Naruto wikia page*)
Sunagakure was founded by the First Kazekage, who gathered the desert-dwelling shinobi under his control with his overwhelming power. At some point the village would come into possession of the One-Tailed Shukaku, and in the coming years the beast was sealed into three different hosts so that its abilities could be studied. The Third Kazekage was able to emulate Shukaku's abilities, earning recognition as the strongest Kazekage in history. Sasori left the village after the emptiness of lacking parental love finally reached a breaking point, but later returned, kidnapped, and murdered the Third, likely sparking the Third Great Shinobi World War with Sunagakure's attempts to find him.
Sometime in Sunagakure's history they created the Puppet Brigade in an attempt to create a jutsu that would give life to their puppets in order to increase their combat effectiveness. Research for such a technique was started and Chiyo eventually developed One's Own Life Reincarnation, but use of the jutsu came at too high a price at needing the user's life to complete the jutsu, thus the research was called off and the village continued to use normal puppets.
Sunagakure frequently fought with Konohagakure; Chiyo's attempts to poison enemies during the Second Great Shinobi World War were often counteracted by Tsunade. To compound this fact, following the Third Shinobi War, the Wind daimyo; began outsourcing missions to Konoha, leading to a lack of funding for Sunagakure. To make up for the loss of military power this created, the Fourth Kazekage had Chiyo seal Shukaku into its third host, his own son: Gaara. It was hoped that Gaara would become a weapon for the village, but the power of Shukaku was too unstable and overwhelming for Gaara and the idea was abandoned. As time passed, however, the Fourth came to appreciate Gaara's increasing control and returned to relying on him as a weapon.
Another village Sunagakure has frequently fought with, unsurprisingly due to their close proximity, is Iwagakure. This has left the two villages age old enemies with each side holding a grudge against the other, a fact which makes them highly unwilling allies.
Later, Sunagakure was approached by Orochimaru with a proposition for a joint invasion of Konoha. The Fourth Kazekage was killed and impersonated by Orochimaru to give the impression of support, and Sunagakure was falsely led to a devastating loss against Konoha's forces. Once Orochimaru's deceit was discovered Sunagakure re-allied itself with Konoha, gaining much from the peace and leading to new prosperity for the village. By Part II, Gaara would be made Fifth Kazekage to replace his father.
When Akatsuki came to Suna to abduct Gaara, Sasori set several exploding tag traps and killed several guards, as well as reactivating two of his sleeper agents Yura and Mukade, while Deidara nearly devastated the entire village were it not for Gaara's Sky Sand Protective Wall. Regardless, Gaara was captured, and the village was in dismay.
An urgent message was relayed to Konoha for assistance via messenger bird. After Gaara was rescued and revived by Chiyo (at the cost of her own life) he was safely returned to Suna and is currently still the Kazekage. He lost his tailed beast, but still retained the ability to manipulate sand.
Military, Population, and Security:
As a result of lack of funding from the Land of Wind, the military and economic strength of Suna is decreased when compared to other nations. While frequent patrols are conducted within the village to ensure safety, it seems that the village itself relies heavily upon it's natural location within the box canyon for protection. The entrance in and out of the village is heavily guarded and booby trapped. The last line of protection which the village has is it's current Kazekage, Gaara himself.
As a result of it's low economic standing, the population is also smaller then other Hidden Villages.
Ninja ranks:
Kazekage ( Literally means "Wind Shadow". They are the leader of Sunagakure and are generally the strongest individual within the village. The current Kazekage is Gaara of the Sand Waterfall.)
Jonin (Highly-experienced shinobi with great individual skills who serve as military captains.)

The leaders of the teams are called squad leaders (Buntaicho), a position held in high regards.

Random Trivia: (*Taken directly from the Naruto Wikia Page*)
* The second fanbook gives Sunagakure a population size of two out of five stars, a military strength of two out of five stars, and an economic strength of two out of five stars. This gives it the lowest overall score of all the five main shinobi villages.
* Despite the element of sand being seemingly unique to One-Tailed Shukaku and its jinchiriki, it seems that ninja from this village are capable of utilizing techniques affiliated with sand (such as Sand Clone).
* Two very famous and powerful ninjas from this village hold epithets: Gaara of the Sand Waterfall and Sasori of the Red Sand.
* Strangely enough, none of the characters from the Hidden Sand have stated last name in the series, even though it's the second most frequent village in Naruto.

| Iwagakure |
Ed 7:51pm, January 07, 2011 [Edit] [Delete] | Location Name: Iwa
Location: In the mountains on the Northwest side of the main continent. Specifically, it is located to the north-east of the military base and south-west of Fort Kalaman.
Description: (*The following is both taken from the Naruto wikia page*)
Iwagakure (Iwagakure no Sato; English TV "Hidden Stone Village"; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in the Rocks") was the hidden village of the Land of Earth. As one of the five great ninja villages, Iwagakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Tsuchikage. There have been three Tsuchikage, the most recent being Ōnoki. Iwagakure is well-known for the rock-hard attitude of its shinobi; as soon as the Tsuchikage gives an order, the Iwa-nin do so without hesitating, even if it means death. Iwagakure ninja seem to specialize in earth release techniques.
The rocky mountain ranges that surround the village and country provide a natural stronghold. The village profits from this advantageous position and is proud of its strong defenses. The village sits among a mountain range consisting of small narrow waterfalls, with the buildings being composed of rock and stone; shaped from large, elevated formations of rock into tower-like structures. Many of its buildings sit on cliffs connected by a network of bridges. The Tsuchikage's palace seems to be the tallest structure with a cone shaped roof.
History:(*The following history comes directly from the Naruto wikia page*)
Iwagakure was known to have attempted to destroy Konohagakure many times in the past. During the Third Great Shinobi World War, Iwagakure fought Konoha across Kusagakure. Despite the actions of Minato Namikaze, Iwagakure was winning the war and pushing Konoha back into the Land of Fire. When Konoha destroyed the Kannabi Bridge, they cut off Iwagakure's line of supply and turned the war in their favor. Some point in the past, another attempt to destroy Konoha was made. This time, Iwa used their infamous Kamizuru clan to guide them in the battlefield. Unfortunately, they were stopped by the rivaling bug-users of Konoha, the Aburame clan. Although Iwagakure has maintained a strong military strength in times of peace, Ōnoki has frequently employed Akatsuki to carry out missions. Deidara, after stealing the village's kinjutsu, defected from the village because his art wasn't appreciated by his village, including the Third himself. He became a terrorist bomber for hire and would later be forced to join Akatsuki. Nevertheless, Iwagakure ninja still hold him in high regard.
Due to their close proximity, Sunagakure and Iwagakure has had many battles over the years, resulting in a bitter emnity between the two villages and their ninja which they are slow to relinquish, even during the Fourth Shinobi World War, where they are allies. However, due to their location on this world one is left to wonder if the distance between them shall help relieve the tensions of the past.
Iwagakure has had two tailed beasts: the Four-Tailed Monkey and the Five-Tailed Dolphin Horse. The Five-Tails, sealed within Han, was captured by Akatsuki under unknown circumstances. The Four-Tails, sealed within Rōshi, was captured by Kisame Hoshigaki while he was exploring the world. While Akatsuki has claimed that the villages of its first two jinchūriki, which the anime indicates Han to have been one of, did not care and were glad to be rid of them, Ōnoki is embarrassed that Akatsuki could capture so many jinchūriki.
Military, Population, and Security:
Iwagakure, along with Kumogakure, has the strongest military presence of the Narutoverse ninja villages. It's population size is only rivaled by that of Konohagakure's. Unfortunately, it seems that Iwa's economic strength suffers the same drawback of all the other Great Ninja Villages in that it is comparatively weak when viewed next to it's population density and military strength.
Security wise, it seems that Iwagakure depends on it's location for it's main defense. Resting within the meeting spot for several mountains and valleys, reaching the village could prove to be difficult. Add into consideration that most of the buildings are located on the edges of cliffs and are only connected to one another via a network of bridges which can be destroyed should it be necessary.
Trivia:
* The second fanbook gives Iwagakure a population size of four out of five stars, a military strength of four out of five stars, and an economic strength of two out of five stars. Along with Kumogakure, it has the greatest military strength of the five main shinobi villages.
* On the cover of Chapter 489, several ninja from Iwagakure, Kirigakure, and Kumogakure are shown. The Iwagakure ninja seen are all wearing red and have black hair.
