Physical Location : The "Northern Lands", in the north-western corner of the world map. The overall land is also referred to as Nerealis.

Description : A large land with a notable mountain range filled with riches and ancient technology awaiting rediscovery, Nerealis stands as a highly advanced technological nation with a firm military presence directly related to their religious beliefs. It holds a number of cities of differing size and importance. Its climate is about extremes, with a warm summer (though nothing tropical), and cold winters which it is renowned for. The area has plenty of forests, as well as a somewhat mountainous terrain overall, though the differing ages of these mountains render them entirely hospitable.

Military and Security : The entire country is littered with automated, self-sufficient attack mechanisms, to say nothing of the sheer number of vehicles they have built thanks to their technological advances. Their specialty, however, is airships, of which they have a myriad of models. The military is divided in two organizations, the normal military, and the elite, special troops of paladins called the Holy Order of Angelus. Despite being pledged to the holy light, these paladins use technology to increase their efficiency, including powered armors (dual layered) and in some cases firearms, though the paladins usually insist on melee combat and relegate infantry to the normal military. Given all this, though, the country's army is also quite strong in magic, having a large number of mages of all types.

Political Structure : Formerly under the sole control of the king, Nerealis has undergone changes recently, now being led by a council. The king sits as an equal among them for decision-making, while he retains somewhat special status outside of the council.

Locations of Interest :
Neo Granastia : Following the destruction of the Nerealian capital (the aptly-named "Nerealis" city), Neo Granastia, already the country's economical center, took over as the capital city. Neo Granastia was built upon the ruins of the previous Granastia, devastated in a war; as such, it was rebuilt using all the latest technological advances, making it a league above many older towns that were merely given adaptations as technology flourished. Built on a large island at the mouth of the largest river in the country, Neo Granastia was constructed around a sword of epic proportions; the blade can be seen from any point throughout the country from its sheer size. The entire city has a very vertical feel to it, as it uses said sword for support and thus maximizes its usage of the island's surface. The city holds the country's shops in a number of malls; its most successful inn is known as the Starlight Inn, providing good food and rooms at a decent price. What was originally a secondary castle of the rulers, the Nonheim family, has now become the main castle of the country, where decisionmaking happens and where the king lives when he's not traveling. Finally, like most cities in Nerealis, Neo Granastia has a large airport.

Hafendal : A port city, once a smaller town, which covers the other end of the large river going through the country, Hafendal is the closer port to go to from anywhere on Zelyn and is therefore usually the first stop of travelers. Being a popular location, it therefore has a number of shops, and an airport to go to other locations on the continent.

Mirage : Otherwise a largely unnoticeable small town, Mirage, located in a somewhat mountainous yet fertile area, houses one of the biggest orphanages in the country, which due to a somewhat recent conflict had seen its share of orphans. There are far less children there now. The city also has a graveyard, like many other small towns in the country.

Mines : Nerealis' mountain ranges, as well as its soil in general, are incredibly rich in a number of ores, especially the elusive Energy Gems, stones containing massive amounts of energy. If cut by a master, their energy can be technically infinite. However, in their greed Nerealians dug too deep, and thus the mines can be dangerous-- for monsters live in some of them.

Great Temple of Angelus : One of many temples throughout the country. Like the others, it was built to represent their belief in the holy light. Unlike the others, this specific one is also devoted to Wlhelm Angelus Nonheim I, the country's founder and a mighty hero wielding the powers of light. Aspiring knights have to go through severe hardships to reach this temple, and once there, must face their final challenge to be allowed to become a paladin.

Holy Order of Angelus Base : Despite its name, it is not restricted only to the Holy Order. The largest military base in the country, with all the expected gear present. A veritable fortress.

Taalden : Originally another country of the Northern Lands, it was annexed to Nerealis without fighting in recent years. The area and its sole village are far less technologically advanced than the rest of Nerealis, and far more in-touch with nature than the rest of Nerealis; this is due to Taalden being a village of Elementalists, who learn to fully control elements to their whims. Among them, each generation at a certain age can undergo a rite of passage and be accepted as the Elemental Master of a given element.

New Origin : Formerly where the old Nerealian capital stood, this water-filled crater was recently the center of a massive battle that could've ended all creation. A Big Bang was in the process of beginning there but was stopped in its tracks by valiant heroes. All that remains is now a massive orb of continuous creation and destruction, both all that can be and nothing at all at the same time, in constant flux. It is the chaos that creates Gods.

Known History : Nerealis' known history starts on the Zelyn mainland, many centuries ago, in a small village. In that village, legends were spoken of a holy land in the north, and through many generations, interest in this land became greater and greater-- as such, they eventually all set out to search for this land, led by Wilhelm Nonheim I, otherwise known as Angelus. The search led them to the suspiciously empty main area of the Northern Lands. Bearing what they thought to be a giant cross, later found to be a giant sword-- they considered it to be a sign that they had found the holy land, and settled in, since no one was there.

Years flying by saw them figuring out that this land was previously inhabited by an incredibly advanced civilization, from the ruins left behind, the reason for their departure remaining unknown to this day. They therefore investigated these ruins and started studying this lost technology, learning from it. On the flip side, they began building temples to honor their beliefs and legends based on how their stories were now apparently true, cementing religious belief among their people. This became the building ground for the Holy Order of Angelus, fittingly led by now-king Wilhelm Angelus Nonheim I.

Nerealians had some minor conflicts throughout the years, both within their own country and with other, neighboring countries. As time went by their technological levels reached extreme levels, yet their feudal mindset remained, still depending on a king. By the time of Andrei Nonheim II's prime, Nerealis was now attempting to cool down its warlike image, initiating talks with a large number of countries. Eventually, in the younger days of the current king, Wilhelm Gabriel Nonheim IV, Nerealis' last war thus far happened with one of their neighbors, and this led to the full annexion of the entirety of the Northern Land countries into Nerealis. No further conflicts have been seen since.

Unknown History : Nerealis' full history is for the large part unknown to the majority. Only a few extremely old individuals, a few millenias old, could hope to even know tidbits about it. As such, if anyone wants to know about it, contact me (Wedge).

Country's People : Nerealian(s)

People's Racial Features : Nerealians are a race of humans defined physically by their pale skin and abnormally bright eye colors, as if they were glowing (though in reality, they're not). Their growth to adulthood is the same as normal humans', but from there they spend longer in their prime, and have a life expectancy of over a hundred years.

People's Religion : The people of Nerealis firmly believe in the "holy light". Their belief focusses on a single God having created the world, and now being aided in maintaining it by a number of Angels he created. Their belief includes a number of smaller legends and prophecies.

People's Affinities and Behavior : Nerealians in general feel an innate need to improve upon themselves and the world around them, while being noticeably tame in their attitude. This has led the country to have a large number of both scientists and soldiers, depending on the path they chose for this improvement.

Important People :
Wilhelm Gabriel Nonheim IV, the current king.
Andrei Nonheim II, the previous king. Deceased.
Wilhelm Angelus Nonheim I, the first king.
