| The IC Cantina. |
Sir Mike Of Decoyness 5:50pm, March 21, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | Alright, time to ramble. Has anyone noticed the decline of the characters inside the Cantina (bar) IC? I have and I believe we need to start bringing our chars back there. With the current ´group RP´ strategy, when other members of the group aren´t on, you pretty much don´t RP. Back in the day (yes, flashback) most chars knew a lot of other characters and it made for good RP. I think the decline of people in the bar is due to the people wanting to play hero or attacking randomly. Listen now, because I´m going to start cracking down on this. Play your char as a real person would act. A bounty hunter/assassin usually wouldn´t give a damn if a fight broke out. He wouldn´t try to help the good guys. I´m not saying none would. Just give people room to RP and run with plots, don´t jump 5 vs 1 on the bad guy. Also, the random attacks, don´t do it without permission from the other RPers. It gets annoying, it disrupts RP, it has no depth and it´s pointless. As Jek would say ´This is not a text based quake´, like he´s suggested in the past, when you play, you tell a story, the story of your character. Define them and their personalities don´t just jump into any action availible. I seriously believe if we lose a common place for characters to go IC, RP will wither and die. Alright, I´m done rambling. Post your opinion to this if you wish and be heard. |

Impersonating Kit 7:43pm, March 21, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | ok...yeah, gotta agree with Mike. I can only speak for myself but I have definately avoided the cantina as such, mainly because of people who feel they have a right to interfere with RP for no reason. Usually screwing up an actual storyline/plot that has had a lot of time and effort put into it just for their own kicks. I put a lot of thought into what I do and I´m not about to have that messed with just cause someone is ´bored´. But I acknowledge that there needs to be more interaction, so I will make an effort. But I strongly advise anyone to really think twice before they jump into anything. Forcing another char to interact with yours isnt the way to get things going.
Why is this thing still saying I´m impersonating myself? *L*

| My reasons I usually stay outta the tina |
Rando OOC 8:27am, March 22, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | I know that we can´t all be goodguys, but I don´t Like RPin a goodguy walkin into a room full of baddies, it shortens a characters lifespan considerably, as it stands now, everyone and their dog has a Darkside Char and they seem to all flock to the tina. Therefore sending my chars there for a drink seems like an un-nessesary risk |

Sir Mike Of Decoyness 8:34am, March 22, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | Though most of the darkies RP outside the cantina or avoid conflict. Even when they are in mass, there´s usually an equal number of non-force sensitive good guys to even it out. |
| Darkies |
Darklady1 7:06pm, March 22, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | Ok, I personally play at least a few shady chars. However, as mike pointed out earlier, most of those chars don´t randomly pick fights with others in the ´tina. Mostly, they try to avoid conflict. A friend also pointed out to me the other day that RP is not all about fighting and I think this would be a good thing for all of us to remember. I have talked to people who don´t play in the ´tina only because they think they don´t know enough about weapons and ships to hold their own. Sadly, these beliefs really cut down on the number of IC folk, since they think their chars will be forced to fight (and will end up dying for lack of experience/knowledge). In summary, I guess I am saying that too much fighting/not enough interacting of other sorts between ALL chars is killing RP as fast as anything else.

``Jed`` 8:12pm, March 24, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | I totally agree..it was hard using Jason in the tina...and it´s still hard rpin in the tina..cuz everything is about fighting, there is barely any rp....most people look for the quick kilsl rather than setting up plots or keeping a sim going...also not everyone knows about all this technology and what not...and it really affects the way they go about rpin their char amongst others when tensions are a lil high or rising |
| I agree |
Luke Skywalker 6:03pm, March 25, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | I agree completely with Mike on the in character roleplaying situation. The roleplay is made by the characters who occupy it. If we do not continue to have a wide variety of characters who are willing to play then the chat will die.
I know from experience because this is what killed the previous star wars chatrooms in the past. We have a good thing here, lets keep it strong and alive for all to enjoy....
May the force be with you........Always!!!!! |
| Hard To Keep It Going |
Mandy Yuy 2:55pm, March 31, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | I think it´ll be hard to keep this chat going if all everyone wants to do is kill each other. I see it alot..dark jedis after light jedis(which gets old), vampires after slayers and council people whatever they are(that´s supposed to happen but apocalyspses etc are way old), and just people who are insane that like to kill others. You´re not gonna have a good chat or keep it going if everyone is trying to kill each other cause it will get boring and newcomers will hate it if all everyone wants to do is kill someones characters.(which most people do want to do) |
| Back again for another ramble idea. |
Mandy Yuy 3:05pm, March 31, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | I think people are getting tired of Roleplaying because roleplaying seems to be unfair to many. The killing thing I said earlier is still a big factor but it´s just no fun anymore because no one is nice to anyone in the Tina except the people they already know. No one in this Tina likes to give people chances to get to know them etc. If someone accidently modes or not accidently modes everyone just assumes they´re someone you don´t talk to or someone you don´t like. Everyone acts like they´re a bad person, for just moding once. Everyone needs to pull their heads out of their asses and start treating the other people in this chat nice. That´s another factor. Some people don´t like to RP anymore cause everyone who roleplays here is a jerk someway or another. People don´t give other people who come to RP here chances at even trying to RP. Newcomers will be rusy but you help them get better. Not criticize. And you help everyone, even if OOC,to better understand what to do here. I know from experience that I get sick of Rping her sometimes because there is always someone always trying to kill you or someone who just plain hates you when they used to be your friend and now they never talk to you anymore. And it hurts that person, whoever it is, who is ignored. Many people come here to get away from how bad there lives suck IRL. I know I do sometimes. But when I come here, it´s usually worse than my RL because so many people here don´t care how others feel. If you´re gonna try to keep this chat up, good luck cause you´re gonna need all the luck and help you can get. |
| Funny... |
Sir Mike Of Decoyness 12:42am, April 01, 2002 [Edit] [Delete] | The chat seems to go on, with or without you. Hell, every first time moder I´ve seen has been given advice. It´s the people who cartwheel away from pointblank shots, or backflip away from pointblank stabs constantly get bitched at. |
