| People of Tatooine, you have been placed under Peacekeeper Protection. |
Scorpius 9:15pm, February 10, 2010 [Edit] [Delete] | *A message is broadcast throughout the system from a now Peacekeeper controlled comm station in Mos Eisley.*
People of Tatooine: I am Scorpius.
Earlier today the Peacekeeper Command Carrier Zarabin was destroyed by the Borg; in response we have been forced to evacuate our refugees onto the planet of Tatooine. We appreciate your cooperation during this time. The Peacekeeper will is strong; we will survive.
Peacekeeper detachments have landed in every single one of your major cities, outside of Bestine and the Outer Rim Republic's colonies. For now, our central force will be based out of Mos Eisley.
Our intention was initially to regroup and wait for the nearest Command Carrier to retrieve us. This may take several of your 'weeks.' However, circumstances have changed. Shortly after we landed we were approached by the Skrellnik Clan of the Hutts. They presented the legal land ownership rights to this system, and due to the recent Borg incursions, have hired us to safeguard the settlements on their planet, on their behalf.
Rest assured, citizens of Tatooine, you are most fortunate; thanks to the Skrellnik Clan of the Hutts, you are now under Peacekeeper Protection. More instructions will follow. |

MEPD Spokesperson 2:43am, February 11, 2010 [Edit] [Delete] | The Mos Eisley Police Department is grateful for the assistance and looks forward to continuing cooperation with the Peacekeeper forces. |

Grand Admiral Kivat Bathunter 7:42pm, February 12, 2010 [Edit] [Delete] | The Outer Rim Republic rejects the Peacekeeper's claim as protectors of this system. They are nothing but warmongering conquerors who wish nothing but absolute rule over all who inhabit this planet. The Hutts who have long abandoned any real status or decision making here are now simply going to sell your land and lives away to these barbarians. We stand ready to defend the real interests of Tatooine, along with all who would stand with us. |

Major Durjaya 2:38am, February 13, 2010 [Edit] [Delete] | *Look at me I'm dead but I'm putting a posting!* *His face appears in an official way. A live transmission. An interesting transmission with no signs of alterations or even being a fake.*
...I apologize for the delay in this response.
The Kukai Foundation respects the Peacekeepers need to find safe haven after a disturbing defeat by the Borg.
Further more. Would like to invite the peacekeepers to establish a permanent operation at coordinates in the canyon area and would be happy to supply resources and possible medical assistance to enable you to survive this dangerously hot and hostile environment.
I also believe, if the other factions do not like it I would advise they keep their distance from the peacekeeper because I truly believe they will not attack you unless you attack them.
Kukai Foundation out.
*The transmission ends.* |

The New Republic protests the Hutts idea of using the peacekeepers for, ironically, peacekeeping. The Hutts claims are becoming tenuous at best, considering since Jabba the Hutt there has been little to no attempt at control. Of course the Republic must recognize that Tatooine does still belong to the hutts as no faction has ever made any claim of purchasing the planet or possibly even the territory on which they base any of their settlements.
However the introduction of another faction in an already hostile and often strained environment, especially one with such rumored reputations as the Peacekeepers will only severe to increase tensions and hostilities, in turn leading to possible destruction of infrastructure and population, reducing what little profit is to be had on the planet in the beginning and possibly even further alienating the Hutt's from their perspective citizens.
We believe a more appropriate approach would be for existing factions to begin paying lease for their settlements and further offering their services as peacekeepers, serving to keep the planet and thus their own settlements intact, or even consider the possibility of selling the planet. The hutts could make a tidy profit and get rid of this increasing growing weight around their necks and instead focus attention and new found wealth in more sucessful regions of their empire.
For now we side with the foundation, we offer any aid the Peacekeepers need for keeping their survivors in good health, and perhaps some sort of agreement can be arranged with the peacekeepers. |

Grand Admiral Kivat Bathunter 10:19pm, February 14, 2010 [Edit] [Delete] | The Outer Rim Republic will not pay any kind of amount to the Peacekeepers for use of land already in our control. We will extend medical aid if needed to the refugees, but we continue to reject the ludicrous idea that they now "own" the land. |
| Federation Response |
Admiral Margaret Cartwright 1:02pm, February 18, 2010 [Edit] [Delete] | Much like the Outer Rim Republic, the United Federation sees the Tatoo system as a neutral world, with no central governing body. An anarchic state of traders without a centralized government proves hard to govern, as we are certain the Hutts will soon discover. We have kept ourselves on good relations with the people of Tatooine, in all forms, and have made alliances with the ORR and the Kukai Foundation. Therefore, our response is swift--we have no reason to believe the Hutt's claim to this planet is any more valid than the claim of anyone else. Tatooine is a boarder world. With the Hutts having hired a private army to help 'control' it, I can only say this--the United Federation of Planets has, and will continue, to stand with our allies on this matter. |
