Tonight, a large explosion occured at the Anchorhead Power Planet. The explosion spewed radioactive elements into the createing a large cloud of fallout that spewed forth, riding planet currents south. So far estimates put the range of damage in a 30kilometer swath to the south and south east. As of now there are no conclusive reports on what occured though analysts are suggesting a reactor meltdown, though a blast wave expanded outward from the plant, destroying much of the city of anchorhead, the Militias battlements turned the area into a superheated wind tunnel. There are no words on survivors from ground zero or inside the city, although we've just received word that Tragolite Teams have been mobilized to search for survivors in the city and the surrounding areas. Any Planetary forces that have the resources to help are being asked by General KEzie to assist in the rescue operation.

Officers are telling us that the southern areas are some of the most hard hit areas, the fallout has made some of the heavily saturated areas even more deadly than ground zero. The Tragolites Are voicing thier intention on taking command of the area until relieved by Planetary forces.

*The news room is solemnly quiet as a special bulliten breaks into normal broadcasting. The main anchor, Steve Burgundy wears a sad face*

We've received news from Tragolite Forces in Anchorhead tonight, but to recap tonights events. Anchorheads Reactor suffered a major meltdown earlier this afternoon, an as of now, unexplaned shockwave added to the highly radioactive cloud, decimating the city. We have footage from the blast, sent to us from an evacuee*The video is amatuerish, very shaky, but it shows a shining cloud coming from the reactor as the vehicle he's in drive quickly away from the city, its followed by a blinding light, causing the cameraman to drop the camera. The feed is cut just as he begins to scream"I'm blind!"* Horrible.

Officials have released initial numbers on Survivors. *He gives the papers he's just been handed a look and shakes his head*This is horrible. I can't belive it. They're declaring survivors as people who are still alive, including those who may still die in the next week. 43. 43 people survived this catastrophe.*he looks back up at the camera.* My reports say that even some that made it to the rally point to the north have succumbed to the effects of the deadly radiation or to wounds. This just in. Our Tragolite troops have rescued two infants from the city. they are optimistic on thier chances. At least some good news has come from this. More now from Captain Rick Cutter, directly from Anchorhead. We're just getting audio feed as the Anchorhead area is extremely unsafe and Tragolites are doing thier best to ward off folks in the deserts. Captain Cutter, you're on. *the screen changes to show some footage released by Tragolite Troops from the city and the Rally point up north. The specialists from W&H are in one segment, assisting in scrubbing down survivors"Thank you Steve, its a grim site here in Anchorhead, I'm at a complete loss of words, how does something like this happen? All my men and I are asking this tonight. We've finished our search for survivors, its been nerve wracking on all of our minds. But we are receiving people from the south in thepath of the fallout, most of them are in good condition and are being moved to a dustoff point in Mos Espa. Our next step is to investigate this catastrophe and see what happened. The main question on our minds and many others is why a shockwave accompanied this meltdown. A normal meltdown releases toxic fumes full of radioactive particles which fall to the ground in a condition known as fallout. Normally we would not see an explosive shockwave. I'm sorry but I have matter to attend to Steve, I will have officers keeping in touch with the Bestine News, we will keep the citizens of Bestine updated." the feed stops and the camera is back to Mr. Burgundy.

Of course, donations are to be sent to the staging area of Mos Espa, located outside the spaceport. The task of cleaning up the area and burying radioactive elements will take many months and the effects of the Radiation may last for a thousand years. We have been in conatct with several other Tatooine news stations and a few intergalactic news services, keeping each other posted with new events coming up, but we seem to be leading with on the ground information. Ladies and Gentlemen, I bid you goodnight and keep those departed in your thoughts tonight.

Today, the U.S.S. Beecher arrived from the United Federation of Planets. This comes off the heels of an announcement from the Federation that they plan on assisting the cleanup and removal of the radiated area in any way they can. Captain Sarah Zaribiov of the Beecher seemed to be optimistic that the lives of The 43 could be saved, and that the radiation could be contained. The Beecher is expected to begin transporting down medical teams and supplies in the next few hours.

On a more somber note, the destruction of Anchorhead is proving to be catastrophic on the local economy, in more ways than one. We're recieving reports that attacks by Sand People following the attack have increased dramatically. This is a developing story and we will update you as the news comes in.
