Only admins can add treasures to this thread. This thread is one of the admin tools for spicing up the chat. Suggestions are welcomed, however.

This thread is for the posting of treasures for characters or groups of characters to seek, if they so choose. The most important requirement to seek these particular treasures is that an admin or mod needs to be available to represent the perils that lay in the seekers' path, the admin or mod serving in the rare, but sometimes fun dungeon master capacity for said treasure or special destination of power or enlightenment. (This is one of the reasons we have a healthy number of admins and mods.) The posts following will follow this easy to follow format.

Name of Treasure or Special Property:

What Treasure or Property Does, its parameters of influence:

Name of Place Treasure or Special Property can be found in:

Description of Place Treasure or Special Property can be found in:

Where on the planet this Place is (will specify if it is known already or needs to be discovered):

Generally, how much is actually known of the treasure or special property, what is marked down in scrolls or told in legend:

List of Perils on the way and whether they are known of or not ahead of time:

a.Peril One: (description here and whether there is forewarning of it or not)
b.Peril Two:
etc. for how ever many obstacles and perils there are.

Now, mods and admins can add little extra challenges and perils where they think it might add to the experience and will keep these obstacles within RP-able reason. The idea of these treasure hunts is for a nice short little bit of fun that lasts one to three days of RPing on average, a really great thing to do while bigger plans are awaiting this or that or are otherwise on hold. This is supposed to be for fun, not to frustrate, and admins/mods and players should keep that in mind as they RP. Admins/mods should be reasonable and players should be in the mood to be challenged and not quick to say a challenge is too difficult or impossible. Some of these treasures or properties will be pretty great and will require great effort and risk to obtain them.

Name of Treasure or Special Property:The Loch Staff

What Treasure or Property Does:Tap the staff on the ground or floor and just think any one of the following commands and it will be so. This is a level 4 magic power for the abilities it has.

a.Rain: Great turrents of rain will suddenly fall from the sky or ceiling (depending on if you are indoor or outdoors). We're talking heavy waterfall fierceness. This will last for 5 posts of the PC with the staff from the time he/she uses it.

b.Pool: Deep pools of water will suddenly appear under up to 10 targeted players, pools wide enough to prevent victims from last minute throwing themselves to the edges and deep enough for them to be submerged and then some. The pools are permanent unless physically filled in, bucketed or pumped out or boarded over by hand.(Great way to make a water resevoir in a less fertile area.) A person or creature must be standing over the spot the pool is made in, however. So, if you need a well in a spot, you'll need a volunteer who likes to swim. heh

c.Water Sphere: A sphere of water will appear around one targeted person or creature. The sphere will stay intact until the person or creature is pulled all the way free. Victims of the water sphere can reach out of it for things to grasp and pull themselves out. The water sphere has its own extreme gravity which holds it together and holds the victims in so that they much swim to the surface and reach for things to pull themselves out. If there is nothing they can reach, they must tread water until aid comes to them or they drown.

d.Water Ram: A great stream of water will shoot from where the staff is pointed after it is tapped on the ground and this is instruction is mentally given. So, tap and point. The water's force is enough to push back a person or creature up to 5X human strength and 3X human size and lasts for 3 posts from the time it is cast or until the weilder of the staff cuts it off by again tapping the staff on the ground.

**Each of these things can be done once a day and all water is of the fresh water variety and of the purest to drink.**

Name of Place Treasure can be found in:The Loch Cave of Mithrenburg

Description of Place Treasure can be found in: Deep in the mountains of the dwarves domain is a loch or lake said to be bottomless. It is located in a cavern as spacious as a grand city. with stalagtites along the ceiling of the cave, but no where for stalagmites to form below, accept around the perimeter of the lake. It is guarded by giant creatures that look like a cross between a bat and a lizard with really sharp teeth and claws. The Loch Staff is halfway embedded in stone on the only outcropping of rock in the whole of the loch, which outcropping has no foundation, yet stays fixed to its spot. To remove the staff, one needs to sprinkle powdered merfolk scales unto the staff and it will come free. In the lock are great serpentile creatures, loch monsters, cousins to the sea dwelling variety.

Where on the planet this Place is:A Loch deep within Mithrenburg mountains. Knowledge of this place can be learned from the following sources:
A scroll in the Wizard's Tower
Mr. Trendlekim
Hearsay from a Dwarf
The very unlikely hearsay of a merfolk, because it was one of theirs who first formed the staff.

Generally, how much is actually known of the treasure or special property, what is marked down in scrolls or told in legend:What is known and can be told of by the above listed sources is that there is a magic staff, forged by a mer-wizard and hidden in the kingdom of the dwarves when he was in hiding there and left in its current spot when the wizard was nearly killed by a loch monster in that very cavern loch. As he was dying he cursed the staff to sink into the stone and said that only the touch of his kind could reclaim it. It has been embedded there for a thousand years. The dwarves consider the loch a place of respect and reverence and will allow none to set foot near it, if they have anything to say about it. That is all that is known up front through the listed sources.

List of Perils on the way and whether they are known of or not ahead of time:

a.Peril One: Lizard Bats. There is said to be terrible creatures besides the loch monsters, but they are not known exactly what they are.
b.Peril Two:The loch monsters. See species descriptions for sea monsters to get an idea of what they are.
c.Peril Three:The dwarves who will take great affront to anyone going near the place.
d.Peril Four:Magical currents in the loch that will try to pull down anything that touches the waters, including boats. An alternate way to the stone outcropping, in the center of the loch with a half a mile at least of water all around it, must be found.
