When filling out an application for a new character, there is a lot to keep in mind. Please read the entirety of this thread as it will make the application process much easier for you.

Canons
*There is a limit of two canon characters per person.
*Some canons are banned or capped at their current number. Please see the list below.
*Some canon-based OCs are also banned or capped at their current number. Again, see the list below.
*You can also check out the Cannon List post below to see who is already playing which canon. This can be helpful when deciding what to play yourself.
*When submitting an application for a canon character, be sure to make a note in the Misc Info section that it is canon and which canon it is from.

Character Secrets
*You MUST include all information about your character on your application! Saying "Classified" or "Secret" on your application will get it denied.
*You can, however, leave certain things off of your public profile to keep them secret. Anything not listed as necessary in the Profile Musts post below can be left out.
*Note that only the Chat Master can read the applications and she will not spread your secrets on to others, so whatever you put on your application will still be safe as far as roleplay surprises and metaknowledge are concerned.
*The reason for doing this is partly to protect you from accusations of pulling things out of nowhere. If you have it on your application and someone accuses you of it, the Chat Master can look up your application and back you up.

Magic, Ability, and Skill Levels
*There is a list of levels and definitions below. You MUST use these terms when describing your character's magic, skills, and other abilities.
*The purpose of this is to set a standard that is easy for everyone to understand. This way, everyone knows when they see you say your character is a "master" what exactly you mean by it and how their character's levels relate to yours.
*The levels "Legend" and "Godlike" are capped. However, new characters can work their way up to legend status through rp.
*When creating your character, keep in mind that while powerful characters may be useful in big battles, lower level characters have more reason to be played for things like quests to gain more experience or seeking out masters to train them. It is easier to find rp opportunities and reasons for relationship building for lower level characters than powerful ones for this reason.

Magic/Power Weaknesses:
*Every type of Magic or special Power that a character has must have a weakness, also known as a counter.
*Even though you are listing it publicly, metaknowledge is still not allowed and you will be protected from it.
*Just because a magic has a counter doesn't mean that counter will work against it automatically. In most cases, the opponent using the counter magic will have to be at the same or higher level than your character for it to work.
*Examples:
-Fire - Master (Weakness - Water)
-Shadow - Apprentice (Weakness - Light)
-Spell casting - Artisan (Weakness - being silenced)

Misc
*Note on Mixed Races: These are allowed, however, while every character is special to its creator, do keep in mind that mixing a ton of races just to be special ends up looking very tacky. If you do decide to mix races, make sure you keep some weaknesses too and not just add up all of the strengths.
*Note on Handles: Please do NOT put underscores, apostrophes, or special characters in your handle. The system does not like these things! If you must use these things, submit the app without them and add them in later yourself under preferences. (For example: Chir'da was submitted as "Chirda" and later changed under preferences)
*When deciding where to have a character originate or currently reside, the World Info thread is very useful if you are not already familiar with the locations of this world.

Apprentice - New to the use of magic/ability/skill. Character would not hold much skill in this branch.

Artisan - Able to utilize magic/ability/skill, but with some limitations yet as there is much to learn.

Master - Character has been practicing for a great number of years and is able to cast magic spells, use ability/skill, or what have you with little effort.

Legend - Characters at this level have mastered everything there is to know about the type of magic, ability, or skill which they utilize and there is nearly zero cost to them. (This level is capped and characters must work up towards this via RP)

Godlike - Characters possess a magic/ability/skill level that is on par with the gods and is unmatched by any beneath them. (This level is capped)

**NEW: Genius - Starting now, each character can now have ONE genius level skill. This is a skill that will be between master and legendary on the ranking scale. This is a skill that your character was born to do, and thus learns much easier. This only applies to SKILLS, not magic or abilities, given what it means.

The following list contains the items in which each profile is expected to contain. Lack of following with this will result in deletion of handles which are found guilty. Dun dun dun! Not that that really should be an issue as everyone has been really good about this. We just want to make everyone aware of what should be upon the profiles and maybe clear up a thing or two for some who might still be confused here and there. There will also be an additional bit for those who have had characters gain new abilities and items in the last year and so on. So, please be sure to check over your profiles to ensure that each of your characters' information contains for sure the following list:

- A name or alias
- Apparent age
- Race
- Height
- Weight
- Physical description
- Personality
- Currently resides
- Current occupation
- Character weaknesses or flaws
- All skills and their level
- All magic/power/abilities and their level along with that particular magic's weakness
- Quest/Event currency
- Quest/Event items

Additionally, a notation "**" needs to be added to skills, abilities, or items that have been acquired since registering the character. Furthermore, a note of how they came to possess this needs to be added beside the skill, ability, or item.

Example:

** Fire Magic - Apprentice - Weakness : Air Removal - Earned by completion of Blood Diamond Quest

If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask a staff member for any clarification.

Thank you!

Greetings, fellow chatters. We are finally releasing the lock on the off world characters. However, we are only going to allow twelve off world characters before it is locked once more, to continue to keep a greater number of on world characters. This is not necessarily going to be first come, first serve. If you already have an off worlder or more, your applications for such might be kept on hold for a little while to allow others who do not have such, a chance to get one of these slots, especially when we get to the last handful of such. I will keep a running tally as to how many slots remain so that everyone knows as well. Thank you for your patience on this last lock.

6 / 15 Slots Filled

 Cannon Character List

This is not only to keep track of how many there are as per the rule, but also to make it easier for people with characters from the same canon to coordinate with each other.

For example, if Becka plays Inara from Firefly and Mat decides to play Mal, he can message her and ask how Becka brought Inara to this world so he can have Mal\'s background be the same, etc.

It also makes it easier when deciding which canon to choose based on what is already being played.

Please keep in mind when registering canon characters that there is a limit of two per person and that some canons are banned entirely from this room. (See: Banned Canons)

Alex - (At Max)
Issac Clarke - Dead Space
Solid Snake - Metal Gear Solid

Marcus - (At Max)
Lawrence Mundy - TF2
Raymond Sandoval - Special Circumstances

Sean -
Link - Legend of Zelda

Ed -
Itachi Uchiha - Naruto

James -
Jacques Dumond - TF2 - On the last registration
Squall Leonhart - FF8 - Currently not reregistered

Mat -
The Doctor - Doctor Who - On the last registration

Boop -
Benjamin Tennyson - Ben 10

Meg -
Sakura Matou - Fate/Stay

10/20 slots filled for canon characters

Color Codes

BabyNames is a great site for finding new character names. It has an advanced search function to search by gender, nationality, and meaning.

Body Weight Calculator is good for if you have trouble determining how much your character weighs for the application. Put in height and select body type and gender and it'll give you an ideal weight range to base your estimate off of.

This D&D page is great for getting ideas for races and skills and magic types, even though this isn't a strictly D&D chat.

If you're having troubles finding a picture for your character, these dollmaker sites are good for creating custom images and allow use of the images created so long as it's not for profit:
Rinmaru Games, but especially the anime avatar creator, which has features for both male and female, as well as having both tech and fantasy features.
Azalea's Dolls has a lot of beautiful creators as well.
