-MELODY is usually the theme of a piece. It consists of successive single notes. Inpop music it's usually played by the voice, but on occasion can be played by for instance a lead guitar for a short section.
-Effect: The mood of the melody greatly effects the mood of a sonaphim
-HARMONY is essentially 'which notes happen together'. While melody is 'horizontal', harmony is 'vertical'. In pop music, the bass, guitar, piano, and other instruments provide harmony by playing multiple notes at the same time which together form chords. The bass guitar almost always plays the very lowest note in a chord at any given moment.
-Effect: Poor harmony in sounds can be mentally damaging for a sonaphim
-RHYTHM is the arrangement of notes over time. It is not about the pitches that are played, but rather their durations and the silent spaces between them. The drum kit is the predominant pop rhythm instruments, but the bass, guitar, etc provide supporting rhythms and are known together as the 'rhythm section'.
-Effect: Directly ties to the adrenaline of a sonaphim. A slow rhythm is calming and induces a slow regeneration for them, a fast one amplifies emotions and physical abilities. Maximum strength is fifteen tons, maximum speed is five times human speed
-TIMBRE is the particular 'tone' or 'colour' of sound. It is what distinguishes a piano from a trumpet when they play the same note. Timbres can be bright or dark, warm or cold, harsh or gentle, clean or gritty, or any number of descriptive terms. A good pop song mixes various timbres to get a full sound.

-DYNAMICS is the variation between loudness and softness. Some pop music, like club dance music, has virtually no dynamic range because it stays loud throughout. Other styles like rock could have a much louder and heavier chorus than verse, which creates excitement through the use of wide dynamic range.
-Effect: Loudness affects the internal temperature of a sonaphim, and directed loud music is one of the more common weapons on Lera (But see powers below)

Equipment:
-Sound Containment and Amplified Redirection suit: Vex’s own invention negates and filters all sound waves directed at her, allows her to amplify (up to ten times) and redirect sounds that come towards or originate from her (applications include sound blasts, razor winds, and so on), and has a built in sound system capable of up to 200 decibels inwardly directed towards her. Also serves as body armor and can be modified to be capable of in space life support, though that version is fairly bulky. Is built to allow any temperature affects thorugh, though it has a heating system in place to prevent her from freezing.
-Sonaphim inducement module: developed by the Ceran government after they discovered they were not alone in their galaxy so that their weapon technology could function, this injection device can temporarily overwrite a beings genetic code, giving them a similar biological reaction to music as a sonaphim. Is a projectile-esque device, but only effective within a few feet.
Powers: Vex’s dymanics system is heavily mutated compared to a normal sonaphim. It allows her to absorb heat and directly translate it into sound. The sound itself is completely under her control as to what it is, but the intensity is directly tied to the amount of heat absorbed. Note that this heat can come from her own dynamics gene, and that this also renders her immune to heat-based attacks and weaponry
Character Background: The planet Lera had been a peaceful one ever since the world was united under one banner. The Ceran Empire is a kind but stern government, and it does not hesitate to use the sonaphim’s unique biology to keep them happy and complacent. Vex hated it. Hated how she couldn’t control when she was happy, when she was sad. She spent her nights in self induced anger, deep, thudding club music pounding in her soundproof room. But that would have been the extent of it, were it not for a freak accident causing the gas main in her home to explode. When it didn’t kill her, and her ensuing power induced yelp of surprise caused the few survivors to burst into flames… she found herself happy for the first time in a long time. Her own happiness. Fast forward a few years, and Vex is the leader of a brutal rebellion, one that she revels in the violence that comes from being free
