[Personality]
Nolan is your typical light-hearted, mischievous, good-natured Irishman. More often then not, he plays the funny man and the trickster, rarely taking anything seriously and growing rather tense when the situation tends to get that way. He is extremely expressive both vocally and facially, can be rather on the dramatic side of things, and has an inexplicably charming, yet bawdy sense of humor. Probably his biggest character flaw, besides a rather vicious temper when crossed, is his crippling weakness for pretty girls, for he can quite easily fall head over ass for any that strays across his path. But despite his very crass sense of humor and generally erratic, childish behavior, he truly is a gregarious person with a sunny disposition and no fear of making friends with complete strangers. His loyalty knows no ends when he sees one is apparently worthy of it, and he has the capability to be remarkably intelligent and dangerously calculating. But the fact is, he’d rather just fuck shit and get drunk.

[Appearance]
A tall man with dark, brooding features, Nolan is handsome in the classical sense. Finding this rather inconvenient, he has let his hair grow to be shaggy, unkempt, and hanging in his face as a sort of protective curtain. His stubble is dark as well, making his ghostly white face all the more pale and ethereal. He has a very lean, wiry figure, broad shoulders, and long limbs, his hands being particularly elegant. Many tattoos are scattered throughout random places on his body, the most prominent being an extremely elaborate cross that takes up his entire back, a very small one of the Virgin Mary on the left side of neck just behind his ear, and another cross wrapped in thorny roses all down his right forearm. The roses are the only tattoos that have color to them.

[Random Bullshit]
- Like a true Irishman, he can drink anyone, no matter how big or magnificent the genetics are, under the table. His liver has more holes than he cares to count, but he’s a damn good drinker all the same.
- Is fluent in Gaelic, English, French, Italian, Russian, German, and Spanish.
- Despite what he says, he’s a very good dancer, as well as a decent singer.
- Having spent a very brief stint as a traveling musician when rock bottom had been hit, Nolan has come to be rather good at playing a variety of instruments. By far his most prevalent would have to be the fiddle. Never call it a violin to his face, though, otherwise he holes himself in a dark corner muttering about how much of a girl he is, and how it wasn’t his fault his Mam made him take lessons.

[History]
Born into an endless chain of simple potato farmers, Nolan never had high expectations for his life when he lived. Expecting to take up his father’s trade (being the only son among five daughters, plus a twin brother he was told had died before he even managed his second breath), he learned the craft as well as he could and never stopped to consider if this was what was going to make him happy or not. Truth of the matter was, he never could be happy, even if he tried.

When the Great Potato Famine struck Ireland in 1740, however, all of that changed within the moment of a blink. Though his wife of four years lived to see the Statue of Liberty, Nolan sadly passed in 1741 after a year of fighting starvation, deeper poverty, and a variety of illnesses. Or at least, everyone thought he did. Lying alone in his death bed, seemingly gone and passed, he was discovered by a young orphan vampire named Sebastian, who had found Nolan’s apparently abandoned home during the middle of a fierce thunderstorm. Seeing that he was still slightly alive, if only for a few hours more, Sebastian struck a deal with Nolan that he only too willingly consented; he would grant him immortality if he promised to take him in as his son.

The two left Ireland shortly afterwards, traveling to America to built a new and better life for themselves. It was after twenty years of constant roaming that Sebastian was discovered to be a vampire, inciting a year-long man-hunt that eventually ended with his execution through hanging. While this of course wouldn’t have killed him, it took place just as the sun was rising, thus ending him. Though Nolan’s grief was immeasurable, he journeyed onward, desperate to make something of a life for himself and for the boy he couldn’t protect.

According to him, the next hundred or so years was merely a blur. Finally giving up in America, Nolan returned to Ireland to make what he could there. But his immortality and loneliness made him restless, and so he started yet another journey, one that carried on for so long, even he is not really sure just how many decades it took. Through his charm and handsome face he climbed social ladders, leading him to the most prosperous marriage he’d ever found. Her name was Molly Willow, and it was made clear almost instantly that she herself was a vampire under heavy disguise.

Having finally recovered from Sebastian’s death, he returned to America with his new wife, living out the times in New York. At the turn of the twentieth century, however, Nolan couldn’t take too much more of Molly’s erratic behavior and lack of kindness towards a human life. After divorcing her, once more he found his way back to Ireland, only to find that Molly had followed him and refused to leave him be. With grudging acceptance, the two stayed there together until the existence of vampires was made known to the world.

After Molly’s rather…enthusiastic encouragement, Nolan, at last, made his peace with America, returned, and eventually found the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps. There, he was reunited with the brother he never knew existed, who had apparently been tracking him for quite some time. After much catching up, the two took residence in a small apartment where they still live to this day.
