Black operation after report #113
Disputed Republic/Ascension border, somewhere near Mimban. A lone Imperial II-class Star Destroyer is adrift in the Expansion Region of the galaxy, on course to cross into Ascension controlled territory unless drastic action is taken to prevent such an incident from occurring. Its massive primary ion engine thrusters appear as black as the surrounding backdrop of space, flickering occasionally as the Republic starship’s crew frantically work to bring the engines back online and correct its course before they are fired upon by Ascension forces patrolling the region. Following protocol, a distress signal had been transmitted to any Republic forces in the area, but it was intercepted by an Imperial probe and retransmitted via a spy satellite to an Elite Stormtrooper or Storm Commando team, deployable across the galaxy with such ease that it even the Imperial remnant is capable of achieving it.
With a tight window before either Republic or Ascension forces arrive, the four man Storm Commando team emerges from hyperspace a short distance out, travelling aboard a nondescript bulk freighter that makes an effort to establish communications with the Star Destroyer as a diversionary tactic. Led by Vartas, they board a SCDV or Storm Commando Delivery Vehicle in the main cargo hold of the freighter and are launched into space. Their unique stealth black First Order Stormtrooper armor, which utilizes a stygian-triprismatic polymer, will prevent them from being detected aboard the escape pod-sized vessel until it’s already too late. The SCDV itself emits minimal levels of radiation, being virtually undetectable by sensors or scanning technology. One would have to look out a viewport to see it approaching. Aboard the SCDV, Alpha team leader pilots the vessel to reach the Republic Star Destroyer’s starboard command tower from just above the starship’s engine banks, latching onto the hull via a magnetic lock. The Bravo team leader utilizes a plasma cut boarding device to cut through a section of the hull while the Republic crew are scattered to complete repairs to the Star Destroyer’s engine thrusters.
Vartas, otherwise known as Alpha team leader, boards the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer once the hull has been breached, knowing the layout of such a vessel like the back of his hand. Their objective is to secure the bridge and eliminate the command crew before the rest of the crew aboard becomes aware of the situation. Every second counts, and he has no intention of being captured by Republic troops during such a crucial mission. The fate of the Imperial remnant may very well be at stake. Both Alpha and Bravo teams rely on their personal cloaking devices to an extent as they proceed towards the bridge. Bravo team diverts to the reactor core, taking a turbolift in order to place charges strategically throughout the reactor room, which will create a chain reaction the destroy the gargantuan ship, causing it to break apart and scatter any evidence across a vast area of space.
Once Alpha team reaches the bridge, he retrieves military issued plasma-burn tape from Alpha Two’s backpack and places it around the door, watching as it quickly burns through the metal and catches a few of the Republic crew members off guard. Once the door is forced open, two fragmentation grenades sail into the command pit on either side of the catwalk, killing the crew there. The bridge erupts in a barrage of crimson blaster fire as he and Bravo Two begin targeting /anything/ that moves—Human, Bothan, Mon Calamari especially Gungan. While there is some return fire, chaos has ensued on the bridge, leaving the remaining Republic command crew dumbfounded at what has just occurred.
With the Republic crew either dead or dying, Alpha Two finishes the job by kneeling on the throat of a Gungan officer and placing just enough pressure to make his death agonizingly slow. Vartas fires a crimson hued bolt into the Captain’s head before retrieving shaped charges from his comrade’s backpack and placing them around the bridge, which are rigged via remote control. They rendezvous with Bravo team, silently eliminating any Republic personnel on route to the bridge. If they were discovered now, their mission would be a failure. Once they return to and board the SCDV, it releases the magnetic lock and returns to the smuggler freighter, leaving the crippled Star Destroyer to drift into Ascension space as the Storm Commandos continue monitoring all communications. The decision to blow the ship is made only as Ascension forces arrive to witness the Star Destroyer infringing on their territory. A chain reaction occurs in the reactor room, causing the vessel to break apart as planned. It is a total loss of crew, but the losses are just beginning if the conflict has been reignited between the Republic and the Ascension.
