History: Born on the Miraluka homeworld. At the age of 2 her parents and her headed offworld for vacation to someplace new and they hoped exciting. Only a few days out in space their ship was attacked by pirates. The ship got damaged trying to escape the pirates, too badly damaged to continue so the pilot made a crash landing on the nearest habitable planet...it turned out to be an Echani planet. The crash was hard on the crew and passengers most dying on impact, some had died hurting the attempt to escape, others died as they waited for the locals to dig through the rubble. The pirates, spotting the populace for what they were, turned their ship around midair and fled, not wanting to tangle with the organized men and women who came rushing out of their homes and away from practice and chores. Medics were called for as the men and women began to dig through the smoking remains of the ship. The dead they moved into a pile for burrial when all was done. The number of dead were disturbing, some muttered that the pilot lacked the skill to safely land a ship that didn't seem like it had taken too much damage from their assaulters.
In one back corner of the ship the Echani found the last of the passengers, a man and woman who looked as though they had been huddled together before the crash, and the twisted body of a child. She seemed as dead as the rest of the bodies they found, but when one of the men moved to pick her up she whimpered in pain. He yelled for the medics to come and they carefully moved her onto a stretcher carrying her little form to the medical facility where the doctors went to work to try and save her life.
She barely spoke a word of basic and no one there knew how to speak Miralukese. It was then decided that at least till she could give them answers about any family back home that they would see to her health, education and everything else she would need.
In the end Kirana stayed with her adopted family and was raised as any other Echani child was. She learned with them how to defend herself, the art of getting to know someone through fighting them rather than sitting down and chatting, and the many other things the culture had to offer her.
On her 18th birthday she packed up her belongings and said goodbye to her Echani family, heading offworld to make a life for herself but promised to keep in touch with her family and the friends she had made over the years. And so she ended up on Vallera. 1
