Captain Jack Harkness was the name adopted by this con man. His original identity remains a mystery, whenever asked he refuses to answer. Jack was brought up on the Boeshane Peninsula, in a sandy beach-like area on the planet Tarion. He lived with his parents and his brother West and had a very normal childhood up until he turned 30. It was then that the first attack from the Warith happened on his world. The creatures who were ruthless and deadly invaded their planet with the intention of taking over the Peninsula to use for their ground base. Jack’s father told him to take his younger brother and run for the caves. Jack, with West in hand, made a run for it however as they were running Jack accidently let go of his brother’s hand and West was lost in the panic. After the screams and cries finally stopped hours later Jack finally emerged from his hiding spot. He instantly ran to try to find his brother but West was nowhere to be found. What he did find was his father’s body dead on the sand and his mother fatally wounded beside him. When she asked where West was Jack admitted what had happened. The look if disgust and horror from his mother was something that Jack would never forget. She screamed at him for letting it happen, for not having protected West. Those were the last words Jack ever heard from his mother as she died only moments later.

After this attack on his home world, the survivors moved inland to the capital city of Aushora where the grand palace of the Royal Family was located. Though Tarion was a peaceful planet it did had a military which had been moved into position to protect the capital. The Warith eventually moved back into space and it would be years before they made their next strike on the planet. Over the years Jack had grew up in Aushora, having been taken in by his best friend Ianto’s family. Ianto and Jack eventually became more than just best friends, they became lovers. When they were around 90 Jack convinced Ianto to join the Tarion Guard with him. Both enlisted in the military and worked side by side for the next few years. One day while they were both out on patrol they were hit by a Warith raid team. Their whole squad was captured and taken up to one of the smaller detention ships. When the Warith were unable to get the information they wanted out of Jack they decided to use Ianto as he seemed to be the weakest of the team. Jack was forced to watch in horror as his lover was tortured and killed. The Warith had every intention of killing the rest of the squad, however with luck on their side their commander managed to escape and freed the rest of the team. Working together Jack and his squadron managed to take down the Warith detention ship and escape back to Aushora.

After the loss of Ianto Jack made the decision to leave Tarion and head out into space. Getting a ride on one of the freighters Jack made his way to the nearest space station. From there he was able to con his way onto a luxury cruise ship by convincing them that he was the ‘entertainment.’ For the next few months Jack spent his nights entertaining all of the passengers with one of the many skills he possessed. For Jack these next few months were a way for him to deal with the loss of Ianto, though in truth he would never truly get over it. Of course it was eventually discovered that Jack had not actually been hired by the entertainment company, but by that point he had been making so much money and drawing in so many listeners that the Entertainment Director decided to keep Jack around. Though, some could say that she just happened to fancy the man as he would be seen leaving her cabin rather early in the morning.

For the next 50 years or so Jack found himself working his way around the galaxy running scams and cons. Eventually he found himself on Coruscant where he knew of a woman who was going to be passing away within the week. Jack had every intention of conning her so she would place him in her will; however it was here at her side that he finally met his match. The man’s name was John Hart and he too had heard of the woman. Jack had been beaten but had not lost it all as later that night he found himself having drinks with the fellow conman. It seemed as though both Jack and John had a lot in common. Nearly 10 shots later they found themselves in each other’s arms as they plotted their next con. They decided on a long con which would end with them taking up a few million. They left Coruscant and went to Oseidon which was a planet located on the outer rim. Its inhabitants were agritultural in nature so Jack and John were able to run their scam with ease. First they poured a vial of special toxins into the town’s water supply then waited for the people to begin to get sick. Once it happened they showed up with the cure. The town’s people paid hundreds for the cure and Jack and John soon found themselves very very rich. One night however, while they were in the town bar, Jack overheard John on his comm. telling someone how he was getting ready to end his own long con and ditch Jack on the planet. Shocked and angered by this Jack confronted John and the two of them got into a heated fight. It eventually ended with John on the floor and Jack stealing his ship.

When John finally came around and realized that Jack had taken his ship he used his comm to activate the insurance policy he had installed. A small explosion in the engine room forced Jack to crash land on the planet Centauri Seven. Jack made his way into the city and soon found a mechanic’s shop that could tow is ship in and also fix the damage. It was in this shop that Jack met a young slave by the name of Owen Harper. Owen and his fiancée, Sara, were the property of the man who owned the shop. They had been in his care since they were teenagers. While fixing the Captain’s ship Owen explained that he and Sara wanted to get married but they weren’t allowed because they were slaves and if they tried to escape then they would just be neutralized. Both Owen and Sara had charges inside them that would go off if their Master pushed the trigger. Jack didn’t have to think twice about it and he made the decision to help these two. They devised a plan and once the ship was finished Jack stole both Owen and Sara in the middle of the night. As the ship was rocketing away from Centauri Seven Jack was busy scanning Owen for the charge inside him. It was easy enough to find and within moments Jack had deactivated it. He then set to work on finding Sara’s charge as well, however none of them had expected that their Master would have woken up to find them missing. Before Jack got the change to deactivate Sara’s charge it was set off. Sara died in Owen’s arms. While Owen never blamed Jack and decided to remain with the man, Jack always knew that Sara’s death was his fault. Though unlike most men who would turn into the lonely brooding sort, Owen did the complete oposite. He became...well you can see for yourself.

During the next year Jack and Owen spent their time finding jobs that paid high enough for them to refit their ship, which Jack had renamed the Tardis, with new weapons and hidden compartments. They had recently gotten a job transporting a new proto type weapon for a group called Ranx Corp. Their job was simple enough; take the weapon from the planet Pyrovilia to Sontara where it would be picked up and they would be paid. Midway through the trip Jack had stopped to refuel on the planet Skonnos and Owen had gone off to find them some food to restock the ship’s supplies. Jack had started to go with him but then realized he had left his comm onboard the ship. When he got back he found the ramp was down and inside was a young woman who was feverishly trying to find where the weapon had been hidden. Impressed that someone had actually managed to break into his ship Jack decided against calling for security. He closed the ramp and trapped the woman onboard. After he managed to convince her that he wasn’t going to harm her she confessed that her name was Chezza Stone and she was in trouble. Chezza was being blackmailed and had been forced to steal the weapon from Jack. As more of the story unfolded Jack learned that a criminal group had learned of the weapon and was keeping Chezza’s mother as a hostage to force the slicing genius to help them. Jack decided that he would help her so long as she promised to trust him and do what he said. Chezza, who had no other options, agreed to follow Jack’s instructions. As it turned out Jack knew the captain on the security squad in the main city on Sontara so he was able to get in contact with his friend and set up a plan. Jack gave the weapon, minus the most important piece, to Chezza to take back to the criminal group. With her help the security force was easily able to move in once the members of the group showed up. Everyone was arrested, including Chezza, however Jack gave her an option to either come with him or to stay on the planet. He promised that her mother was going to be safe as the security force would be placing her in their witness protection program. Chezza, knowing she was in debt to Jack and wanting her mother to stay safe agreed to go with the Captain. Of course Jack has noticed that she has eyes for Owen, even if Owen seems completely oblivious to that fact.

A few months later Jack, Owen, and Toshiko made their way back to Coruscant. Jack had some business to take care of and he let Owen and Tosh have some time off. He was in the Langleer Club that night in the shadier and lower levels of the city working his scam when things took a turn for the worst. Someone recognized him and instantly started screaming that he was a conman. Jack took off out the door with the others chasing after him with every intention to murder him. As he rounded the corner a speeder slammed on the breaks in front of him and a young woman was yelling at him to get in. Jack, not wishing to get killed by the other men, jumped in and held on for dear life as the woman began to pilot them through the city. The men from the bar were in hot pursuit however the woman in the speeder was on hell of a driver and soon enough that had lost their followers. When Jack asked her name she said it was Gwen Cooper. It turned out that the men who had been chasing after Jack had already murdered someone that night…Gwen’s husband. They had been together for years but had only been married a few short hours ago. Gwen and her husband Reece had been making money by holding speeder races. Unfortunately they had managed to fix the last few races and the men had found out. Gwen had been on her way to take them all on before she had seen Jack running. Fearing for her life, Jack eventually convinced Gwen that if she tried to go after them they would probably kill her. He offered her the chance to go with him and work as his co-pilot. After a few rounds of shots in the nearest bar, Gwen finally agreed and Jack to her back to meet the others.

Over the years Jack and his crew ran many missions for a coorperation on Bespin. As such they found themselves sepdning a lot of time in the city. Jack had found a club called The Drifter and it was within these walls that he met Grayson for the first time. Grayson had been up on the stage with his troop and the moment Jack saw him his heart lept up into his throat. The boy, with his graceful movements, firey auburn hair, and piercing blue-gray eyes was the very embodyment of his beloved Ianto. It didn't take long for Jack to find out who the boy was and who he belonged to. Grayson was a slave owned by the notorious slaver named Jonas Veiter. That night Jack blew all of the credits he had recently earned just so he could bring Grayson back with him that night. That first night Jack just sat there staring at the boy trying to get him to talk. He had no intentions of using Grayson, though it was clear that the boy was confused when Jack refused to sleep with him. Instead they spend the night enjoying each other's company. Jack treated Gray to a wonderful dinner and when it finally grew late Jack brought the boy into his bed with the sole intent being to fall asleep with Gray in his arms.

Over the next few years Jack found his way back to Bespin whenever he could just so he could spend time with the boy. Every night he would treat Gray as though he was a Prince. He would insist the boy ate at the table with him and they spent hours just talking and watching holoflicks. One day Jack and his crew were given a job which took them far across the galaxy. It was years before Jack and Gray crossed paths again. When they finally did meet up it was once more on Bespin in a club called The Corner. As it turned out Grayson had not only been freed but it had been discovered he had a brother. Grayson was living with his brother and it seemed as if things were finally working out for him. In time Jack came to learn that Grayson was in fact from his home world of Tarion. They began to spend more time together and it wasn't long before Jack came to the realization that he had actually fallen in love with Grayson. Though he had gone in wishing that Gray was Ianto, he had come to love the boy for who he was. He tried to ignore his feelings but when Gray confessed to loving him too it made things much more difficult. Jack tried to tell Gray it was a bad idea, and even admited to why he ahd been attracted to Gray in the first place. At first Gray was upset, but it had changed nothing in the boy's eyes. When Jack tried to leave Grayson had stopped him. That was the first night that Jack allowed himself to give into his feelings and desires. Together they confessed their love and returned to Jack's ship and for the first time they truly formed a bong that cemented their realtionship. As time went on Jack found he was falling more and more in love with Grayson and when the boy had been kidnapped it nearly ripped him apart. It was not long after Grayson had returned that Jack finally proposed marriage. To his astonishment Grayson agreed. Never having been more happy in his life, Jack and Gray are now more than just boyfriends. They are truy united as lovers.
