Kathrine, or Kitty Pryde, is a vigorous young sprite of a girl, often calling herself "the ghost with the most." (Privately to herself, of course!) Studious, attentive, and brilliant, she devotes most of her time to her studies and the development of her mind and body to best serve her own mutation and the Order of the Empire as a result. Kitty is a devout Imperialist whose parents and brothers are also loyal to the Impiral way. Inherently, Kitty believes that what she is doing and the direction she is taking is the right one, and has the utmost kindness, sympathy, and understanding for other mutants. For and of humans, she thinks little.

HISTORY

Katherine Anne Pryde was born to Jack and Kate Pryde, the third child and only daughter of a wealthy self-made family in small-town Indiana. Jack Pryde is a respected engineer who created and patented a type of nanobot that aerates soil and electronically monitors seed growth for farmers, automatically adjusting the amount plants are watered and effectively terminating pests and plant-borne diseases for maximum productivity. He has produced versions of this technology for hydroponic growth and for other non-agricultural industries to be put to various uses including a production contract with the Imperial military. Not to be outdone, Kate Pryde is a successful neurologist and brain-mapping scientist who had a heavy hand behind the “brain-wiping” technology used by Imperial telepaths to produce artificial amnesia. Kitty’s two brothers, Jack Jr., and Justin, are both hedge fund managers for the wealthy in Neo X with subtler mutant abilities than her own.

As Kitty was an unexpected pregnancy and born 15 years after her younger brother Justin and seventeen years after her older brother Jack Jr., her parents devoted all of their free time and resources to her cultivation. Her mutation made itself known at the young age of six, but even before this Kitty was a prized child. The moment she started walking, she was placed in dance and martial arts classes. By the time she was two and a half she was reading and writing both English and Spanish, and by four she was fluent in French and Hebrew, and has since added Russian, Gaelic, Japanese, German, All Romantic Languages, Chinese (All Dialects), and the royal and standard languages of alien Shi‘ar to her repertoire. Not only did she excel at languages but also at mathematics and applied sciences and technologies and at seven she was tested at genius levels for all subjects and sent to attend the Imperial Institute. Kitty has been there ever since.
