Full Name: Samuel Rushman
Codename: Marrow
Race: Mutant
Earth-616 Counterpart: Marrow/Sarah Rushman
Age: 43
Affiliation: Empire Loyalist
Base of Operations: Imperial Institute, Neo X
Powers: Hyper-Accelerated Metabolism resulting in Accelerated and Controlled Bone Growth and Regenerative Healing Factor, Enhanced Bone Structure Durability, Superhuman Physiology (Strength/Agility/Reflexes), and Dual Hearts. [Per canon]
Abilities: The product of an exceptionally brutal UK-based research program, Sam learned to defend himself from an early age. As a result, he is a prodigious combatant and one of the foremost experts on CQC in the Empire. A former Imperial Military officer, he is competent with the tools of conventional warfare and is a capable commander. Despite lacking a formal education, he is reasonably well-read and speaks a handful of languages (though he struggles to write in any save English). His level of control over his “humble” mutation is absolute, allowing him to utilize his abilities to the utmost degree. His unerring resolve (and the barriers built into his mind by Imperial telepaths) make him a difficult target to read or control telepathically.
History: Samuel was born visibly mutated with bony protrusions over much of his body and a full set of teeth. His birth was nearly the death of his mother, and his appearance and unique condition put his parents off any attempts to try and keep the baby. As a result, he was entrusted to state care, and became one of the first oddities discovered by the government of the United Kingdom. His early life was an unending series of traumatic events resulting both from the overtly painful nature of his mutation and from the experiments conducted on him to alleviate his condition. With time, these experiments shifted in intent from aiding the child to pushing his abilities beyond their natural limit. By the time he was liberated at the age of nine, he had known little other than pain, scarcely spoke, and was almost wholly uneducated and illiterate. Conversely, he was tough as nails and could fight like a demon.

Being absorbed into the nascent Empire changed all of that, but it was his encounters with mutant leader Charles Xavier that helped him move beyond his pain and gain some level of control over his mutation. In the final years of the war he acted in a limited capacity as an agent of the Empire, despite his young age. After the bombs fell, he participated in rounding up what remained of the human resistance, and was awarded the rank of Captain when the Imperial Military was formalized. He remained in service for several more years before retiring as a Major. For a time he wandered, a kite lost on the wind, from day-to-day, dive bar to dive bar. It was only a chance encounter with an old friend that saved him from his wayward existence, calling him back into the service of the Empire as lead (or co-lead, if someone else has taken on this role) instructor of the “Combat, Tactics, and Practical Applications” and founder of the so-called “Special Class.”
Personality: Despite his military background, Sam is a decidedly informal individual in most circumstances, prone to smoking, womanizing, and drinking (in that order). However, he is deeply loyal to his students and to the Empire, and has a take-no-prisoners attitude when it comes to defending either.
