Ivy was born in the port town of Wick, Scotland to Edina and Henry MacEidheann, her family was actually on holiday there and actually made their home in Glasgow, Scotland where they both worked as curator and assistant curator at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Ivy was steeped in history, art and understanding how important it is to those that look to their past for their future. You could say Ivy knew nothing else so it wasn't much of a surprise when she decided on becoming a restorator and went to The Courtauld Institute in London to acquire formal training, specializing in Old paintings, tapestries and ancient relics. six years later, MA degree in hand she returned to her parents to work with them at KAGaM. All the while she had a deep want to work at the Smithsonian. She put in an application, eventually she got a formal reply suggesting more experience and they would review her application in a couple of years. During that time she decided she needed more than just working with her parents. To be able to possibly work at the Smithsonian in her lifetime she must broaden her resume. Work somewhere else. So she applied to the Museum of the City of New York, that being her opening to the US, she acquired a temp position on a large project in restoration of 17th century decorative arts. After a sixth month project it was over, they no longer required her skills but recommended her to the MU. For her to specialize in the Pabodie Vault artifacts and statues (along with various unclassified misc items yet to be viewed). Ivy hope this will expand her resume and upon working at MU for a while recommendations can be made to Smithsonian so she can full fill her dream......
